He had no bedside manners and it seemed he had more important things to handle vs my appointment. I had questions and all his answers were very vague. I asked if my problem could be a spinal or scoliosis issue, but all he said was no, without any explanation of why. He mentioned that my symptoms were definitely odd and he recommended me to do an MRI, then a follow up appointment. I did the MRI end of July and I still have not heard back from him nor his office. I did receive a message regarding a note he wrote himself possibly about PT, but that was it. I called the office and asked if I needed to come in for a follow up or if they were going to refer me to a PT place, but nothing! I am still suffering from my issues and I feel like I'm back at square one. I went to him knowing he was a spine specialist, thinking he was able to help me or provide some sort of relief, but it was just a waste of time and money. Overall, I wish I had a better experience with Dr. Tran. I only went to him because of all the positive reviews and high praises. Unfortunately, my appointment with him did not reflect that. I'm glad I got the MRI done as I would have to get it done eventually, so thank you Dr. Tran. As for the follow up, I am better off looking for another spine specialist who handles patient communication better.

Over the course of the last 3 years I can confidently tell you what an amazing man and hidden gem he is. A crisis in our country is the state of the healthcare industry and the toll it takes on providers. Providers can become so overworked or burnt out that they forget to see their patient as a person or have so little time that spending any extra time advocating can seem daunting. Dr. Gburek found me at the lowest point in my life. By simply listening to me, treating me like a human being, and advocating for me; he made all the difference in the world. He carefully made care plans based on my life goals like having children and factors such as my age to refer me to specialists. I had a unique case where I became medically handicapped in terms of medication. Steroids and NSAIDs cause me to develop stomach issues I had never even heard of. Stomach issues that caused me to be unable to eat regularly for nearly an entire year. I was wasting away to nothing while I waited for Cigna or any doctor to help me. I had lost 20 pounds unintentionally in 365 days. He tried to send me to specialists that could find an answer for my symptoms, but to my dismay, those specialists had no answer for me or even any ideas of how to help me. If you've ever been in that position you know how lonely and desolate it can be. It was traumatic To even be brought to that point I spent years of my life arguing with Cigna that my life mattered but, naturally, they only want to hear what the doctor thinks. Even if that doctor has not throughly completed an assessment, offered any treatments aside from medication, or been inappropriate with your care. Dr. Gburek is not one of those providers. He takes your health and goals seriously and will advocate to give you your life back. He is the only provider who advocated for me with Cigna over the last 3 years. My health struggles robbed me of my identity and I believed there was no hope. Dr. Gburek did not leave me with no hope and he did not leave me without solution. Instead, he fought for me and saved my life. By giving me a life with manageable pain, I am able to pick back up the pieces of who I used to be and who I want to become while continuing to help others as he helped me. I want providers like Dr. Gburek to know how important their care is so they don't lose sight of why they do this and continue to help people. I want patients to see this and know that there is hope for your case. He deserves all the praise and I am incredibly thankful for my healthcare hero. Experiencing a chronic health struggle can be dark but hopefully you can find someone like Dr. Gburek to turn on the light.

The injections were quick and smooth (not going to say painless because that would be lying) but if you can't have it a little pain, they have the option for a local and aesthetic. If you are dealing with back or hip pain or pain in general your body, I would highly recommend scheduling a visit through your doctor.

Today as I walked in again to check in, I was approached with the same paperwork to fill out again that was unused the last time. I tried making an office clerk aware that I had already filled that out the paperwork the first time I had been there less than a month ago. She wanted me to redo the paperwork. I told her I wasn't having it and that my paperwork should be somewhere in my file. After several attempts of trying to get a few words in to this lady, I finally just buttoned up Fired Dr Cook then gave the lady a little piece of my mind. Surprisingly, there were approximately four or five other ladies at this massive counter and not one tried to take over, or try to interrupt the lady to explain to her that she was being rude and unprofessional by assuming and interrupting. It's beyond my understanding how anyone that works in a medical staff will assume anything. As I was leaving, I asked Dianne if you could have Dr Cook call me so that I could explain why he was no longer going to be my neurosurgeon, they told me that he was running about 45 minutes to an hour late again today. No one called me however in a Baroness Dianne did tell me I should call and see if he's behind schedule today. At that point, I knew that this relationship wasn't gonna last and he wasn't gonna have a job with me. I'm trying to understand, and I know that I am a bit frustrated right now, but would it be so wrong for me to think that it's the doctors staffs responsibility to place a call and say hey we're running late today. We know that you are busy as well, so we wanted to see if you could come by a little later, as opposed to being here in an office, sitting down, staring at other people that are doing the same thing. From what I understand my procedure has been estimated in about half $1 million. This is the worst medical staff in Austin, Texas and by the looks of things Dr Cook doesn't seem to give a rats ass about any of his patients, New, and I would imagine existing as well. I was in a horrendous, roll-over, car accident that left me badly injured. Some of my injuries included a broken back and neck, which caused paralysis in my right arm. I was taken to Brackenridge Hospital and thankfully, Dr. Patel was on emergency call that night. He, along with other hospital staff, did what was necessary to keep me alive! Due to many of my other injuries, Dr. Patel was unable to perform surgery on me for several days. Once I was stable enough for him to perform my first surgery, I slowly regained use of my right arm. Each additional surgery he performed helped me tremendously not only with my pain, but my quality of life... a life I would not have today without him!
