The store is very welcoming... when we walked in we were greeted by a nice man (who I assumed was Mr Robyn) who just let us roam around and made himself available for questions in case we had any. I also noticed that they keep up with the seasons, they must have a big inventory and are always changing out certain sections of the floor for certain items (or their items sell so fast.) We found a great art wall piece that is a custom painting at an extremely fair price. Also, the couches and chairs are very nice with surprisingly great prices. While I understand that retail work can be taxing, the store wasn't particularly busy and I only had a few items. Very Disappointing Customer Service Experience…read more I had a very disappointing experience at World Market today 10/24. I placed an order for curbside pickup, and when I arrived, it was raining heavily. Rather than have an employee come outside in the pouring rain, I decided to be considerate and walk into the store to pick up my order myself. Unfortunately, I had left my phone and wallet behind. When I approached the employees, I was told I needed my ID or phone to retrieve my order. While I understand that stores have policies in place to verify purchases, what bothered me most was the way the situation was handled. When I spoke with the manager and explained what happened, her response was, "Next time, use curbside pickup." The irony is that I HAD selected curbside pickup! I simply chose to come inside because I didn't want an employee having to walk outside in the heavy rain. Instead of showing any understanding or appreciation for the consideration I was trying to show her staff, the manager responded in a way that felt dismissive and completely unhelpful. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I was simply hoping for a little understanding and some assistance in figuring out how to retrieve an order I had already paid for. It's unfortunate that trying to do something considerate for employees turned into such a frustrating customer service experience. Management should be able to communicate store policies while still treating customers with courtesy and respect. This experience definitely left a bad impression, and I expected better from World Market.
