Also, the garage DOES go through to the back of the building where The Painting Place is - so the directions are correct. It was much easier to get there this time when I realized it was a pull-through garage under the building lol.... Another unique aspect that the painting place had was that their color tiles (examples for how the paint would look after firing) also included swatches before the kiln, and how it would look based on the amount of coats you made. They also had an assortment of examples for different applications on your pottery such as masking tape, masking tape stickers, freckled paints, and even glazes you would see on professional pottery. Examples of what you could make and the colors you could choose were all over the studio for easy reference. I had a lovely time and would certainly come back.

If that aspect of the business isn't specifically advertised, it can be a bit off putting for someone who doesn't know what they're walking into. Our biggest issue stems from that fact that this place took pictures of my children and put them on their social media. My wife reached out via chat on Instagram and was ignored. My wife called the business and talked directly to the owner and was met with indifference. She said that the Instagram account was ran.by someone else and she would reach out before pushing my wife off the phone. It was eventually removed and replaced, sarcastically, with a picture of my children with yellow smiley faces blocking them. The Instagram account also blocked my wife who only asked for the pictures to be removed. It wasn't until after this that we saw that she also posted pictures of our children to FACEBOOK and those weren't removed. We tried calling again, during business hours, and the phone was off. So I went there and spoke to her myself. I explained to her that putting images of children is against Rhode Island law. After making me wait, she got on her own phone and all of a sudden had access. She deleted the pictures and I went on my way. I don't recommend this place unless you're a religious zealot looking to spend the afternoon with an insufferable Karen who thinks breaking the law is ok because she's "always done it."

While picking what to paint, keep in mind you have around 1.5-2hrs. So plan accordingly! After our painting, they text you within 10 days and you can go pick up your masterpiece. You can paint a sculpture or a dish that you can actually use for food. You don't take your painting home with you so no paint all over your car. Another family left right before us because they had been waiting a long time to be helped. We waited 30min without the employee even saying hello. We ended up leaving because he was still helping the large party. I did not want to spend my money at a place that made us get a "reservation" and then proceeded to ignore us. For a place that charges so much for there pottery pieces I would think they could have more staff working on a Saturday. I was also shocked that their store was so dirty and cluttered. Seriously, it is so bad. The bathroom was also disgusting . I had high hopes for this place but was very disappointed.
