The owner trashed us to my son in law when he went back to pick up our pottery. My family was there to paint with my new granddaughter and she was rude the entire time we were there. We had made an appointment for 5 to paint and you would think she would appreciate the business but she wanted to make sure you knew you had to leave in two hours if you were done or not. She continued to interrupt our painting with answers to questions about her business no one had asked, which set a very awkward tone. I would have paid an additional $25 for her to stay away from the table so we could have enjoyed our outing with our family and she not be so rude to us! Steer clear from this place and go somewhere else. read more

There is a tradition with my son to go every year for his birthday and do a pottery piece. Love the prices here, they don't charge studio fees (like other studios). Which it can get pricey, quickly. Julie( I believe was her name) was AMAZING!! Very friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. When she walked around to see if we need any assistance, she had great tips. You could feel the love she has for job. The next person Terrie that came in a later shift, wasn't as attentive and a bit unpleasant. The whole mood shifted in the space. Super disappointed in the experience. My mother used to own her own pottery studio, so we went in with her, my husband, sister, and my new baby girl to do hand/footprint memorabilia. My mom has a lot of experience in this, so we were perfectly comfortable letting her handle this. To be clear, the worker there was great, offered her help and suggestions, and was generally pleasant. Then the owner arrived. Told us that hand prints don't do well and she doesn't recommend them, insisted mom was using the incorrect paint brush and was clearly miffed when we didn't take the offered brushes or let the worker do it. Firstly, we were there for the experience and the memory, we never expected to get perfect prints, never mind my 5-month old was asleep and we didn't want to complicate the process. But then out of the blue, the owner then begins telling us that we were strictly limited to her time frame, that this was how she found she needed to run her business, and basically told us to hurry up and go. When baby woke up, we gladly accepted the worker's help with the final prints while mom worked on her other piece. Then, at pick-up, the owner proceeded to trash my mom's work to my husband, and then went into the same speech about how she runs her business, strict table time, blah blah blah, clearly making the other guests present uncomfortable. I'm happy with how our pieces turned out, no thanks to the owner, but unfortunately we will not be returning to this location. read more

Terrible customer service. When I inquired about bringing wine and cake for a party of 4 celebrating a birthday, I received a response of "NO; Fort Mill Tavern is next door." We decided to cancel out reservation. No where did it say there would be a processing fee of any kind to cancel our reservation. I had to email several times to receive a refund of the $25 booking fee. Of course they could not process the refund (for some reason) but mailed a check. That took almost a week to receive the check for less than the $25 booking. Terrible experience; will not be supporting this small business. read more

Long story short. I bought my wife a gift certificate from them for her birthday in 2021, and in the fall of 2021 my wife went to redeem the certificate only to find out they were closed (with being in the middle of a pandemic didn't think much more about it as lots of businesses were closing). Last week my wife and I went to Town Tavern in Fort Mill only to find out that Art Space Studio had moved. So yesterday my wife and I took our daughters there to do a craft. When we gave the associate the gift certificate she stated that the gift certificate was expired and the owner doesn't except expired gift certificates. The FDIC states that store gift certificates cannot expire before 5 years. The associate called the owner, and let's just say the owner was very unprofessional and refused to honor the gift certificate. The owner obviously doesn't value her customers, and conducts business in an unprofessional manner. She took my money but refuses to honor the gift certificate. read more

Very disappointed, I drove an hour to enjoy an afternoon with a friend at Art Space. I had a gift certificate that my college daughter bought me (money is tight for college kids! But she knew I loved going here) my certificate expired DURING Covid but I thought for sure since it was a pandemic It would still be honored.... But to my surprise NO was the answer when I got there an asked. Two sales were lost due to this yesterday, I would have spent more than my certificate was & my friend had planned to paint. I went Monday the 12 paint my art work and was told to come back the 19 at 2 o'clock and when I arrived to pick up my art work was not baked and I did not receive any calls informing me that my art work was not complete and when I returned 20 later the art work was done but the costumer service was not up to par the owner was not sympathetic and in spite of me driving an hour and waiting another 20 minutes she was not apologetic and wasn't considerate and confrontational and insisted that I was trying to start an arrangement. I've been here twice and have had nothing but fun, fun, and more fun creating my art both times. I've only done the glass fusing but they also offer pottery painting. The space in the shop is great - walls lined with pottery pieces galore to paint as well as glass fusing pieces made by the staff to inspire artistically-challenged customers like myself. There is a cozy room for private parties or events. The staff members are all smiley, knowledgeable of the crafts, awesome at helping out and providing ideas if needed. *Look for Shannon w the purple hair. She is fantastic w the glass fusing! The price points for the products are not bad - 4 glass pendants (necklace, w/o chain though) for $25, 6 glass pendants (bracelet) for $29. If you sign up for the email list you get coupons that sweeten the deal even more ($5 off, $10 off during your birthday month, etc). Even though this studio is a trek for me (20 miles), I don't mind burning up the gas in my car every now and then for this place - especially for their Ladies Night Out events at which they provide apps and wine and all you pay for is what you make. We recently had my son's birthday party there and the kids had a blast. I am usually very pleased however I messaged the concerns I had after my son's birthday party and never received a response and after paying close to $300 plus a tip I thought a response would have been nice. I was a little disappointed with how some things were handled and generally we have always had a great experience there. With the age group that we had and the party being for 7-year old's, the parents were a little confused as to where they should be. There was not enough room for every kid and their parent/parents to be in the room. Many families were actually siblings as well. When they were standing and/or sitting they were told they were in the way, I am not sure what had happened but one parent asked where they should be when they were sitting at a table and asked to get up since they were not a paying customer and it was said to them that usually parents just drop the kids off and that parent felt very unwelcomed as did some of the ones that overheard that. Having an armed robbery situation a few weeks back at the Target, I don't think all parents are comfortable dropping their kids off at parties in that area. If it is for older kids, that is definitely a possibility but I know I would not leave my son at a party these days, unfortunately. Had we been 15 separate families walking in we would have taken up more room outside of the private room that we paid an extra $50 for. I am not sure if the minimum number should be adjusted since 15 kids and their families do not fit in that room but I would have hoped that accommodations would be made for each guest and their family member, whether it was them just sitting at the other table outside of the room. If you plan on 15 kids and at least one parent that is 30 people. That room did not comfortably fit 15 kids, the host and a few parents and I know for younger kids I do not feel comfortable putting on an invitation that the business does not want you to stay at the party. I completely understand that the holiday time is a busy time as well so maybe the parties before the store opens or when it closes or have a reserved time when you have parties that only a certain amount can come in. It was also close to 11:10 and we started to feel as though we were being rushed out. We had the room until 11:30 and had the clean-up on our end and were out way before 11:30 but the second woman that had come in made it very clear that there was another party and we had to get out and multiple times interrupted me saying goodbye to guests. We knew what time the party ended and planned on being out by 11:30. I was not able to appropriately say good bye to the guests etc. I love supporting small businesses and maybe this just happened to be coincidence but I was hoping this would bring more business to the company and I was excited to share what with other families what my family enjoys doing but I was a little embarrassed after this. Also on the sheet I had chosen a pencil holder that we chose as his gift and never received that. I just know how I felt leaving there after the party and I felt as though we were more of an inconvenience than us trying to help to a small business and I guess, had it been noted that parents would not have a place to stay with their kids I might have found a different place that could have fit everyone appropriately. read more

I've been here a few times and it's hit and miss. Some associates are super nice and attentive. Others...not so much and you are left on your own or asking tons of questions. The store is cute, lots of ideas and finished items to inspire. The prices are a tad higher than other places I've been. And again, sometimes I'd get frustrated with the lack of assistance offered. They have a full selection of lots of creative pieces you won't find anywhere else. They also have a private room for ladies nights out or kids birthday parties. I would not recommend for children under 6. We decided to paint a small flower pot, and the sign was on another part of the shelf. The sign that I saw read $45 which looked like $15. I would have never paid $25 for that tiny flower pot. Additionally, my child lost interest, and we ended up leaving before I finished it. It is a cute shop, but I wouldn't go there unless you have some experience in painting or you get a good rate for ladies night, etc. read more
