These young people have experienced an inordinate amount of trauma and strife and are struggling to establish their identity and create a sense of home and security for what is often the first time in their lives. The murals Matthew painted have gone a long way toward making the house a real home. The artwork is colorful, fun, vibrant and powerful; everything the teenagers look for in a message. Matthew worked diligently, quickly, unobtrusively and stayed within the agreed upon budget. I couldn't be happier with his work and recommend him to the highest!

Unfortunately, the…read morepressure eventually became too much for her, and she decided to step away from gymnastics and give dance a try at Elite Studio of Dance. From the very first day, she has never looked back! Since starting dance, I have watched her confidence grow tremendously. She looks forward to every practice and comes home excited to tell me all about what she learned and who she spent time with. She was welcomed with open arms by the other dancers and has made so many wonderful friends. One of the things I really appreciate about Elite Studio of Dance is the sense of community they create. I love that they take the time to do roll call at the beginning of class, giving the children an opportunity to introduce themselves, learn each other's names, and connect with one another. It may seem like something small, but I believe those little things make a big difference in helping children feel comfortable and included. The instructors and staff have also been incredible. Every interaction I've had with them has been professional, kind, and informative. When my daughter recently joined the competition team, I had a few questions about my payment plan. The staff responded to my email quickly and took the time to answer all of my questions. That level of communication and support is something I truly appreciate as a parent. I also love how the competition program is structured. The competition dancers practice alongside children who participate simply because they love dance and want to take classes recreationally. I think that creates inclusion rather than division. It allows the kids to learn from one another, build friendships, and feel like everyone is part of the same community. There was even a time when I accidentally mixed up my days and dropped my daughter off too early for practice. One of the instructors kindly allowed her to stay and participate in a class until her scheduled class began, even though she wasn't enrolled in that particular class. That small act of kindness meant so much to me because, otherwise, I would have had to leave work to pick her up. As a parent, one of the most important things to me is knowing that when I drop my child off, she is safe, welcomed, and surrounded by people who genuinely care about her. Those are just two of the many experiences that have made Elite Studio of Dance feel like so much more than a dance studio. It truly feels like a community. I'm so grateful we found this place. Watching my daughter rediscover her confidence, make friends, and genuinely love going to practice has been such a beautiful experience. We've taken classes here with several instructors and subs who were so kind and lovely to the kids…read more I really want to like this school. The dancers are amazing and we are always awed by their competition team performances (my friend's kids compete here) but we were taken aback by a recent encounter that I'm still pondering about to feel. I want to be honest and candid in my feedback as I hope this can be used to improve the school. As parents, we always followed the rules and would drop off esp for ballet class since the owner was strict on this policy (after first class) to not be a distraction to the kids. We've taken intro to dance, ballet 1, and this year was hoping due to schedule reasons enroll in ballet 1/2. We have been doing 2 recitals (which are expensive by the way and cost $100 per dress plus tickets you have to buy PER attendee (yes even toddler). The ballet class name this year was literally ballet 1/2 on the calendar initially and not ballet 2. To accommodate both daughters, I asked if we can enroll given we took ballet 1 the year before. We were told by the owner through text when we asked to change classes that this was ok and she was happy to welcome our daughter. However, we later found out after the second class (it was the first class with the owner as the very first class was with one of her substitutes whom she later told me was not up to standard with that class), that she decided to make it only a ballet 2 class. Therefore after telling my daughter and her friend they can enroll and even encouraging us to, she texted us we couldn't bc the "maturity level and skill level gap was too big." In retrospect, I wish she could've had a discussion with us parents after class face to face instead of delivering by text. I even told her this in response to her texts but to be fully transparent, the teacher never usually in the past communicate to us parents in person and only over text or via mass announcement on Band. In retrospect, I wish she never would've let my daughter in the class bc she said my daughter needed to go back to ballet 1 (which felt like a demotion just after 1 class in ballet 1/2). Yes, this did affect her self-confidence and in her desire to learn bc now my daughter says she loves to dance but doesn't know if dance CLASS is right for her. This is ironic since I was told by the owner/teacher "for her confidence, I want her to be in ballet 1 for a while before she's ready." It was very disheartening how she told other parents the same and one of which also enrolled in the ballet 1/2. My daughter cannot be with her friend anymore in class and my younger daughter (we come there bc of the convenient time) also had to dis-enroll bc of this change and it just left us feeling unsupported, which is disappointing because I always recommended their dance school to other parents and parent groups on social media and to several of my friends who enrolled. One of my friends was excited her daughter would be in same class as mine but this was not to be. All around just unfortunate with the level of communication and giving my daughter hope but then taking that away. She did offer 1 additional class for ballet 1 at the end of the month but thinking we may need some time away to think on this because my daughter still loves ballet and this school is conveniently located but we need some time to reconcile how we feel still about this encounter. I'm conflicted as my daughter loves dance but this recent incidence caused us to question if and when we will return.

Each class is 2 hours. I didn't catch the name of our instructor but she was good. Aprons, acrylic paints, brushes, palette plate, water provided. She had a finished piece displayed as an example to follow and also did a painting live alongside step by step. If you wanted to order food or drinks from the restaurant there was a server/waitress available too, one section of the place was just for our event. In Sacramento I've previously been to Happy Hour Paints, Paint Nite/Yaymaker, and The Painted Cork so this wasn't a new thing for me, but it had been forever and awhile and I enjoy creating art, whichever the medium may be. I have held my CCW for 10 years and, during that time, have attended several courses taught by…read moremultiple instructors. Without question, this has been the most informative, well-structured, and comprehensive CCW class I have attended to date. Theo is an exceptionally knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated instructor. He takes the time to explain every aspect of the course in detail and, more importantly, incorporates real-world scenarios that encourage everyone in the class to participate and think critically. Rather than simply providing an answer, Theo allows the class to work through scenarios together before explaining the correct response and the reasoning behind it. That approach made the material much more engaging and meaningful. The range portion of the course was equally impressive. We were taught not only the standards required for a CCW qualification, but also given insight into what a real-world defensive situation might actually look like. Safety was clearly the highest priority throughout the entire range session. I felt completely confident having Theo actively present and attentive while shooters were live-firing. He was constantly observing, immediately identifying potential mistakes, and stepping in when necessary to prevent unsafe actions. What stood out to me most was his hands-on approach. At many other facilities, instructors tend to coach from a distance. Theo was right beside the shooter, providing immediate feedback--not only pointing out areas that needed improvement, but also recognizing and reinforcing what we were doing correctly. That level of personal instruction made a significant difference in the quality of the training and in my confidence as a student. After 10 years of CCW experience and training with multiple instructors, I can honestly say that I have found my new go-to instructor. I will absolutely be referring Theo and his courses to anyone who is serious about responsible firearms ownership, personal protection, and being prepared to defend themselves and their loved ones. Thank you, Theo, for your professionalism, patience, expertise, and genuine commitment to making sure every student was trained safely and went home safely. It's not social at all because you are discouraged from talking to other participants, not to mention you are facing a wall or window AND facing away from the teacher who is speaking behind you. I agree with another Yelper that we spent more time on introductions than we did on actual sewing. And, if you bring your own sewing machine and it is more advanced than their machines, you'll spend about 10 minutes staring out the window like I did. Also don't register and pay in advance because there are NO refunds and NO rescheduling for the same class, even though their health policy states that you should remain at home if ill. I was really excited to learn how to sew in person so I registered in advance for several classes, but I would rather lose the $120 than be forced through two more boring, dry, uncomfortable classes where I will likely learn next to nothing and have to listen to the owner's cloying tone and lame attempts at jokes. Save your money and look up a tutorial on YouTube.

I wasn't asking for a refund. I simply asked whether I could receive a credit to take the class at another time. I was told no because I had agreed to their cancellation policy. What was particularly frustrating is that I was trying to do the responsible thing by not knowingly bringing COVID into a group class. The woman we spoke with mentioned that someone close to her was vulnerable , which made the lack of flexibility even more baffling. Protecting vulnerable people is exactly why I called instead of simply showing up sick. The conversation then escalated to the point that she characterized our questioning of the policy as "threatening," which I found both unfair and completely inappropriate. What makes this especially disappointing is that this business previously had to reschedule a class because one of their instructors was sick. I completely understood. I didn't demand a substitute, insist the class go forward, or ask for my money back. People get sick, and I believe we should extend one another basic consideration when that happens. I understand having a cancellation policy. I do not understand a policy being applied in a way that effectively penalizes someone for choosing not to expose a classroom full of people to COVID. I would have happily taken the class on another date. Instead, the way this situation was handled, and particularly the way we were spoken to, left me feeling that basic courtesy and concern for the community were not reciprocated. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this business based on my experience. I attached an email from them forcing us to understand when their staff is sick just dont expect that understanding in return.
