You know, it's hard to get too excited about launderers until some place messes it up. Art Cleaners is not the cheapest place to get your shirts washed and pressed, but they really do a great, reliable job. A few years ago, I used some random cleaner in Boulder. After a while, they began to have a problem whereby my clothes would come back with a funky odor. They couldn't prevent (or explain) the smell, and I finally switched to the Art Cleaners location near my office. I used them for a year or two and they were great. Then I thought I could save a bit of money by switching to a cleaner near my house. Guess what? My clothes started picking-up that same, nasty funk that they got from the other joint. Again, they couldn't explain it, couldn't prevent it and didn't seem able to really even take it seriously. Bye bye. So I'm back to Art Cleaners, at this, their new Longmont location. By the way, I love that they don't use perc (perchloroethylene, a carcinogenic solvent that is the standard for dry cleaning). They use the 'GreenEarth' brand process, using a form of liquid silicone that is, apparently, nontoxic and better for fabric. read more

We have been using Art cleaners for more than fifteen years. In my opinion, Art Cleaners used to be the best in Longmont. However, the quality and consistency seem to have eroded quite badly as of late. Regrettably, we will not be using Art Cleaners anymore. If it wasn't for Chantelle and her great customer service, I would've rated this place with ZERO stars. Despite the exceptional customer service provided by Chantelle, the overall experience was unsatisfactory. I had taken a tuxedo and a tuxedo shirt to have them professionally pressed. I specificaly requested my pants have a sharp crease. Unfortunately, the lady at the counter lacked knowledge about suits and mistakenly ordered the pants to be starched. Wool dress slacks, in contrast, do not require starching. We promptly contacted the company to request a change to "no starch." My tuxedo was scheduled to be ready the following day. Then my anxiety inducing nightmare started and went on for a good week! Upon my first visit, I noticed that the pants were crease-free and pressed flat, resembling women's dress slacks. The jacket remained wrinkled, and my shirt was poorly pressed. The entire outfit was in such horrible shape as if a fifth-grader had pressed my outfit! A manager named Tori was contacted and agreed to rectify the situation and have the tuxedo ready that evening. Unfortunately, Tori neglected to communicate the order to the plant. After three additional visits and enduring a week of frustration and anxiety, I requested that the tuxedo be delivered to me without them doing anything further. By this time, the manager's incompetence and lack of internal communication were clearly evident. Finally, after a week of this ordeal, I picked up my Tux and the shirt, only to have it redone by different cleaner in town. While I refrain from naming employees when service is subpar, management is a different matter. Managers are compensated to receive public criticisms when they are incompetent. Therefore, manager Tori must improve in numerous ways or this business will be in trouble. As for Chantelle, they are lucky to have an employee of that caliber! read more

I took my down comforter here for professional cleaning. It was about two years old and in good condition when I dropped it off. When I got it back, the down was badly clumped in the chambers of the quilt which had not been the case before cleaning. The comforter is now uneven and not usable the way it was before. To replace the same comforter now costs about $294. The shop offered $105 based on depreciation guidelines and refunded the cleaning fee, but would not offer fair compensation for the damage. I also had to specifically request the comforter back. Overall, a very frustrating and disappointing experience. I would not recommend this business for cleaning and never plan to use their services. I was told my two blankets would be ready on Thursday, I show up Friday afternoon-they are not ready. you will have to come back Sat the clerk said. I asked if they are open, yes we are open all day I'm told. I show up at 2:30, they are closed!!!! The clerk is right inside and won't help me. VERY POOR SERVICE! DONOT USE ART CLEANERS! We took in a new king sized comforter and 2 pillow shams last Sept. to be cleaned before we stored them for the season. Imagine our surprise when opening the bag several days ago: there were rips in the shams and a large rip with stuffing coming out one end of the comforter. The comforter also shrang down to a queen size with lumps all over it. I called Art Cleaners, took the comforter back in to the store so the manager, Kim, could look at it and let another Kim, the owner, know so something could be done. The manager called and informed me that the owner will take NO responsibility - no reimbursement of cleaning charges, no repairs, no credit, NADA. They are the most unprofessional and unreliable cleaners I have ever experienced. No wonder their reviews are consistently 1 star. read more

Dropped off my husband's work clothes with a bag we purchased from our usual cleaners. Picked up the clothes and they couldn't find the bag. The guy gave me one of theirs that's significantly smaller and has their name on it, while the bag we had was plain white no logo. On top of that it seemed too expensive and the clothes weren't starched like I'd asked them to be. I used Art Cleaners in Lafayette for years to dry clean my professional clothes and suits...probably to the tune of $10,000 or more in business. I had a white dress blouse (that is only worn on formal occasions) cleaned and when I went to wear it again for an event a few months later, there was a stain that had not been cleaned. I took the blouse back in the original bag with the receipt still on it and because it was past the 30 days, they were going to recharge me to clean it again. I spoke to the manager (Margaret I believe) a couple of times after playing phone tag and she refused to clean the blouse on their dime. In fact, she was rude about it...insinuating that some customers do this in order to get free dry cleaning. I have no doubt that is the case. However, after years of my patronage (which they could look up), and only one other complaint from me (a lost pair of slacks), you'd think that they'd honor this request. They did not. Nothing like loosing hundreds of dollars worth of business over a $20.00 re-cleaning. I now use John's Cleaners in Lafayette and they are outstanding! "Pride cometh before the fall." read more

I dropped off two pairs of pants to get alterations.i never hear from them so about 14 days later I call to ask about my pants and I'm told they were ready. Unsure why I was never called. Then I show up to get my pants, bring them home to find NOTHING had been done. the holes in the pants that I paid $26 to have patched up were still there along with the pants that I wanted hemmed.No alterations were done what so ever. The young man at the desk Tyler confirmed the holes in the pants. He was there when I dropped them off two weeks ago and he was there when I picked them up and he was the one who told me to bring them back .He confirmed that the alteration tags were exactly where he left them.He was completely shocked and very apologetic. However, his managers would not let him redund me. I specifically asked for a refund and I was told that the manager said NO but I can drop them off so they can fix them...which means I have to wait even longer.They did not even offer me any sort of store credit, not that I would want to come back here. Horrible customer service on the managers part! What do i get out of this? nothing!I didn't even get what i paid for! unbelievable!i will NEVER be coming back here for anything and I will specifically make sure to spread the word about thid place and the poor management/ customer service and what a horrible way to treat an employee.i was understanding that it was not Tyler's fault, as alterations get sent out. I've been working with Art Cleaners for the past year and a half, and I've been very satisfied with the service. I use their pickup/dropoff service, so I just have to leave a bag outside, and my pressed clothes come back a couple days later. They've never missed a pickup or a delivery. When it comes to basic apparel, dry cleaning is dry cleaning. The prices here are just crazy. What I paid for two shirts is insane. Rip off.

I called their Longmont location this morning, because I needed some clothes cleaned quickly before a business trip and was hoping I could have them ready to pick up the next day. Since they don't do weekend cleaning at that location, Angie told me to get in touch with their delivery driver, Clark, so that he could pick up my clothes on the way to their Boulder store. The clothes were picked up within 10 minutes, and I was surprised to find them waiting for me on my front porch when I arrived home from work this afternoon, instead of being ready for me to pick up tomorrow. Not only that, but the bill was about 1/3 of what I was expecting for rush service. I've only had one lost article of clothing, a couple years ago. It was dropped off with a lot of other stuff and I might not have even noticed it was missing, except that the front desk clerk told me they had misplaced it when I went to pick everything up. I received a call from a manager within a couple days of filing the claim. Even though the shirt was a few years old and I didn't have a receipt, they sent a check for the full amount I thought I paid for it - plus a couple of gift certificates. read more

These guys are RIDICULOUSLY expensive and dishonest. $10 per pair of pants and $3 per shirt. 17 items cost $83. In addition, they quoted a much lower price and drop off and then refused to honor it at pick up. They tried to justify it with their "GreenClean". Don't care. For starters, as an environmental professional, this is pure marketing bunk. The GreenClean techniques are just as harmful to the environment unless they use liquid CO2 (which is energy intensive and greenhouse gas intensive). The Siloxane solvent creates dioxins in the manufacture process, and the DF-2000 is still an organic solvent that results in increased greenhouse gas emissions. read more
