Very rude staff. I took my daughter and her cousins to paint and the staff was so rude. They will try and charge you for unused paint when they don't explain what paint was to be used for the figures. When I brought it up I was told 'we assumed you knew what paint to use' and still insisted they have to charge up because of 'policy'. Also they will over charge you for sale items as well. Very deceiving! We will never be back not ever recommend them. Save yourself the money and go to Kiln It where they're friendly and professional. read more

I love this place. Always have. I really don't treat myself to making art projects often enough but Art Attack is a favorite place to go when I do. I am writing this review now because of the thoughtful ways the are taking care of their customers and employees during this pandemic. They are very serious about safety, so in my book, that makes this a perfect and fun place to spend some time. If you want to go into the studio, everyone must sanitize their hands (sanitizer is provided). Everyone must wear a mask. Tables are separated to abide by social distancing. High-touch areas are sanitized hourly. Brushes, paints, etc, are left on the tables as customers leave so they can be sanitized before they are touched by the next customers. And a bonus that really got my attention is that Art Attack has "to-go kits" so you can pick up everything you need to just paint your ceramic project at home. When you have finished, you bring it back your project and the things you borrowed, like the paint brushes, and they'll pick them up from your car. Items like bowls, dishes, and cups are glazed and fired by the employees so that they will be food-safe and can be washed in the top shelf of the dishwasher. Takes about three days before projects are ready for pick up. They don't recommend using them in the microwave. There is no extra charge for them packing up for project in a to-go kit, which is awesome! If you aren't planning on using your project for serving food, you can always use acrylic paint and it will avoid the need for firing so there is no need for another trip back to the studio. Your project is finished and ready to display as soon as it dries. I haven't tried the other projects offered at the studio, but they look fun. You can paint on canvas, using your own creativity, or examples/patterns that they supply. I'd also like to try my hand at making mosaics. They looked really cute. The studio has online classes, where you pick up the project in advance and then you join the online class (I believe through Zoom). I know there are classes and events specifically for kids, too. I haven't tried this but they also have a Facebook Live event on Wednesday nights to preview classes and show customers new items. Overall, I've enjoyed the projects I made there. Most recently, it was a bowl that I painted and personalized for a family member's milestone birthday. She loved it. It is an easy and fun way to make keepsakes for your loved ones and for yourself! This place is AMAZING. I had my daughter's 8th birthday party here (today for a bit of timeline so May 2021) and it was incredible. Amanda was our party host and she was incredibly helpful, the kids loved being around her and she was very accommodating to any needs we had. She had an immediate connection with the party goers and we couldn't ask for anyone better. In fact, as we waited for parents to pick up their children, she played games like musical chairs and Simon Says. The kids did so well that I think this is now our go to (and not just for birthday parties). I also want to say the cost is comparable to having a party elsewhere except you get the benefit of each attendee getting to do an amazing project that they get later in (after it dries). I have been patronizing the Art Attack since 2015 with my granddaughter. Our last visit on January 20, 2022, was horrendous! The lack of customer service was unacceptable. We were treated poorly and felt disregarded. First, we were sent home to paint the ceramics with insufficient paint. I drove all the way back from my home (25 miles one way) for more pain to have staff chase me outside to tell me they could not "fire them" (the ceramics) because we had used some paint that was not provided to us by them. This has NEVER been mentioned not to do previously. I had several calls from the "Manager" whom did not have basic customer skills to assist an unsatisfied customer. The final resolution from the Art Attack is as follows: 1. They would remove off all paints and allow us to repaint what we already painted or 2. They would give me an instore credit of $40.00. I responded that neither of the options would be sufficient. First this would be a huge inconvenience to us because we do not live in the Albuquerque area. This would equate to me driving back to Albuquerque (50 miles round trip) and would equate to a lot of time and money for two small ceramic pieces. The experience with my granddaughter is already tarnished and we do not want to go back to your venue because of how poor we have been treated. I would like for you to refund my money at this time. The two options are unfair and unreasonable. I am not one to complain and usually let things go (life is too short) but after how badly we have been treated by your company and employees I am ready to move forward if my concern is not resolved. What an absolute blast!!! This is such a great parent/child date location, or perhaps girls night out??? It's so cathartic to sit down, get your creative juices flowing, chit chat and paint away. There are several options to choose from, but essentially, you pick a piece of greenware (fired pottery ready for painting) in the price range of your choosing. Gather your colors (don't over do it, if you're wasteful, they'll charge you extra! You can always get more if you need it without extra charge, but if you get it and don't use it, you gonna get busted!) You can usually pick up your finished creation within 5 business days. What fun! Pick out some pottery, spend 2 hours painting the pottery with glaze. I went here with my husband for a day date. We picked out a couple of pieces of pottery and got to it. The folks at art attack gave us a rundown of the process and showed us all the materials (glazes, paint brushes, paper towels...). We had such a good time together and a few days later we were able to pick up our pieces after they had been fired in the kiln. The sitting fee is $5 per 2 hours each and the cost of the ceramic you pick out to paint. Mine was $30 and my husband's was $12. It seems expensive but a $52 date is not bad at all. Dinner and a movie is more expensive than that. Overall... thumbs up! We will return. read more

That's honestly how Art Attack works. It helps, of course, to craft those memories with other people, preferably kids. Well, I suppose this place totally works for girlfriends, too, the Girls Night Out thing. Now, my bros, on the other hand... probably not so much. "Yo, fellas, what do you say we like, grab some brushes and pastels, sit down for an hour and paint some ah... decorative signage for the sitting room? Maybe a floral-themed fruit bowl? Can a brother get a fist bump for a personalized olive oil dispenser?" Nah, Art Attack really doesn't qualify as Man Cave worthy. I did paint an olive oil dispenser, actually. I think it was $20. My kid worked on the kitty/pumpkin model, a heart-shaped plate, and something else, I'm forgetting. We were there for about an hour, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The sole staff member, a college kid, was really personable, she led us through the basics, and told us a little about her new car. We were the only people there mid-afternoon during a weekday, it was cool to have the place to ourselves. And all of that art? I should have limited my kid to just one piece, because the experience was costly. But what's the price tag on a creative slice of parental joy like that? Definitely priceless. The only negative I can think of, is that it was expensive. Three of us doing small projects, we rang in at over $70. Not that I wouldn't do that to help a sad little girl smile, but I can't do that every day, or even regularly once a month. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. My kids have a love/love relationship and will jump at any chance to go here. We have been here for a few birthday parties and a few open times. They have a wide range of things to pick from to paint and the staff is very helpful and friendly. My issue is that it is expensive - one tiny figurine is like $10 and those are never the ones my kids want to paint. Inevitably an argument ensues and I end up caving and leaving with an unusually high bill for a fun day out. Also, you have to paint it and then leave it so they can set the paint (?!?) and then I have to hear my kids ask every day all day for several days when they can pick it up. It is a fun place to stop in - the staff is always friendly and very helpful. It is just one of those places that you have to go to every now and then to let your children utilize their artistic talents, but it is a bit cost prohibitive. Will be return? Walking in, greeted by the friendly and very helpful staff who explained how the studio charges-upfront about fees and costs-then showed me the vast array of items I can use to make a great piece. I went overboard for me and did two paintings and and a cup. But it was fun, I didn't feel rushed. A very calm and comfortable atmosphere. This is place that offers all kinds of different pottery, then you take it to the table, using their paints, and get to paint it yourself. All the prices are marked on the pottery (as different items cost more). The Paint Selection: There is an extraordinary amount of paint colors to chose from. And if you don't have the color of paint you want? Ask the staff and as long as they aren't too swamped, they may be able to mix it for you. The Tools: They offer a variety of paintbrushes, big and small for any painting need. They also have a palette where you will pour your paint unto. At the tables, they will go around changing the water (where you dip your brush when its time to change colors). The Pottery Selection: They have an extremely vast assortment of various pottery to paint. Ornaments, decorations, knick-knacks, dishes, containers (pottery that comes with a lid to paint), vases, cool animals to paint, cookie jars, salt and pepper shakers, you name it - they've got it! I was in total awe of all the choices they had to offer. How it all comes together: Upon coming through the door, there is a white dry erase board letting you know when your pottery would be ready. There staff rotates through the tables ensuring you've got everything you need. They have instructions when you get in, giving you tips and important information about the pottery. At the end, you pay for the pottery you painted, and pay the "painter" fee which ranges on how long you were there painting. Then you come back on the designated time and date to pick up your pottery, which you just find on the shelf (its easier to find if you have a bunch of people with you because you can recognize their pottery too). So, I had a good time painting BUT this place is run pretty annoying. Every other word out of their mouth was "we charge extra if...." so I was kind of paranoid that I would be charged extra for every little thing. For example if there is ANY paint left in your little tray they charge you. I've been to other places like this in other states and they were nowhere near as nit-picky. I get that you don't want people wasting paint, just comes across pretty bad as a customer. They have a pretty good selection of pieces to chose from. But of course the prices add up. You pay $5 per person to paint for 2 hours. And then you pay for your pieces on top of that (wednesdays are two painters for $5 though so luckily we went on a wednesday). I took my 3 year old today and she painted a little brontosaurs ($8) and I got her a tile too since they were cheap ($4). I painted a mini owl mug ($10). So your outing isn't cheap, but it is fun. Just be prepared for them to list a million rules to you before you paint lol. read more

My boyfriend and I came here to paint one day and we had a great time! I thought he'd roll his eyes at the idea but he actually got really excited to go. We picked out our pieces and it wasn't until we got our paint and sat down that they started timing us, which was great because they have so many pieces to choose from, it took us a while to pick! I knocked off a star because it ended up being pretty pricey and also they don't offer many brush types or tips on perfecting your technique. I cannot believe how much I have fallen in love with this spot! Inexpensive studio fees ($5 or $3 on Wednesday) partnered with very beginner friendly instructions and kind staff make this place my therapeutic getaway for a couple of hours with my pals. I've been here 3 times and have walked away with pieces I'm proud of. It can get busy, but I seem to get so caught up in what I'm doing that I hardly notice anyone being noisy or obnoxious. They do a punch card that is good for $20 off once filled, and many of their pieces to paint range from about $10 to $30. If you have a child between the ages of four and 44, please go to Art Attack. I used to take my son when he was a little guy to the location in Nob Hill, and now he's all grown up---but I still have a toothbrush holder he painted way back when and it is PRECIOUS to me. He painted "brush" on the side, and the 's' is backwards. It kills me. It is a travesty that the Nob Hill location was closed so many years ago. You would think all those art-loving hippie liberal types could keep such a wonderful, creative place in business! Thank Jeebus the location on San Mateo and Candelaria is still with us. I take my niece there, and I'm happy to say my son still loves it. You pay for the piece of raw pottery and a minimal painting fee (5 dollars for two hours, I believe), and then you get to use all their beautiful paints and (not so beautiful-we bring our own) brushes. You can pick the piece up in a couple days after it has been fired and glazed. The place itself is laid-back and friendly. I highly recommend this as a fun family activity. It's very relaxing to sit together and paint, and the keepsakes and memories you create will be with you for a long time. read more
