She is a sweet girl, loved everything about getting my hair cut there at Hello Salon. So I wasn't sure if I wanted to write this review, but after two bad experiences I decided to…read morechange my mind 1. The Salon is clean and nicely decorated 2. Where they went wrong is that I specifically ask for highlights and lowlights. I am a natural blonde and I get my hair done every 6-8 weeks. It's super low maintenance and is very easy to do. Instead the girl insisted on highlights with two different toners.... For someone who washes their hair everyday due to allergies, toner does simply not work unless you just want to use one at the end, but it does not work as a primary color. With in 3 weeks it will all be completely washed out... I know this because I used to work at a Salon in Boston. So what ever, I let her do what she wanted.. which ended up costing me way over $300. What I should have had was a simple full highlight and lowlight with a hair cut. What I left with was almost more like a balayage, with two different toners and a cut, which I ended up having to come back the next day because the toner was very very warm. They charged me for "specialized blonding" and the two toners. What funny is that they said the next time I came in it would be less and they would just charge me for highlights... ummmmm 3. I lived in Boston for three years and the most I spent there was $340 for a mid level stylist who had been doing hair for about 8 years..... I was charged over that for my "special blonding"... that I didn't want, and the toners, and hair cut. Now the girl who did my hair has only done hair for FOUR years. I found this price INSANELY HIGH for someone who hasn't done hair for very long, and for living in OK. The next month I went back to my old hair stylist who I used to see, got my hair cut and highlighted with an olaplex treatment for $115. This is someone who has done hair for 20 years vs 4. Now moving onto my husband. 1. So we are expecting a baby, and I suggested him finding a barber closer to our house. I thought well, maybe there barber would be good. His haircut was so bad. Honestly I had to end up fixing it because it was not blended in the back. The barber was relatively new and charged the same price as my husbands very experienced barber charges. All in all, they overcharge for the knowledge that some of stylists have. I would suggest going elsewhere honestly. The photo that has the straggle hairs is from the barber.. the one that is nice and blended is after I fixed it. Yikes

Hair cutting is much more precise than color, to me. She's experienced, but an eager learner who is always furthering her education. And I love Aveda! Very unfortunate experience that was handled poorly. I can give some grace to the stylist because…read moreit is obvious she has lack of training and communication skills. Although the owner, Jan was very unprofessional w dealing with this. If all my money was refunded I would not be posting this... My first time here and I booked for a partial hili that is quoted starting at $95. I had existing level 9/10 blonde that I had asked for baby lights only on the top to connect midlength-ends. The stylist said no prob. ( I have had this done before so I know it is doable). I also stated I don't care about the sides or underneath, just the top. Stylist mixes bleach then takes almost an hour to foil a partial. She did side panels, and the top... because it took so long I was aware that she never refreshed her bleach which deactivates after about 30min. I also was aware that the last foil placement was the top and fringe area:/ this means my hair did not lift at the areas I specifically asked for. I waited awhile for bleach to process....then she stated that she will add a beige/ash gloss to tie the color all together. After the gloss/toner my existing blonde seemed closer to my natural color but was pretty. I couldn't really see the hilights well in the salon until I got home. They are super brassy/orange level 7/8!!! Soooo bummed. The appointment was 3! hours long and I was charged $180! When I asked what the breakdown was, the front gal stated, partial hili, gloss and blowout. What! Being charged for a blowout after a color service was boggling to me. I thought they must have this posted on there website. Nope. So I was suppose to walk out of there w wet hair and not see what my color actually looked like to save $55 for a blowout. Crazy. The owner Jan stated she oversees all Aveda salons in this territory and that is what they all do. Really? Why is this not posted somewhere? Hmm. Very disappointed w the lack of communication from the stylist who was not able to achieve what she stated. And extremely disgusted w the owner who didn't take ownership of my experience. I now have brassy/orange hilights, the worst.

I came back a second time, this time to the new location in the Pearl District, which was beautiful. She listened to exactly what I wanted, and did just that.
