The entire staff is very sympathetic to issues with our loved ones and takes care of them as if they were their own. I read some of the one star reviews, and they are a joke. I have never in all my years seen them treat or speak to anybody poorly. You have to remember they are a business and as sympathetic as they may be to handing out free care that's not how a successful business works. If you want the absolute best care for your animals this is where you need to go. If you want to complain about not being able to pay or walking in on a Monday or a Friday, which are hands down their busiest days and expect to be treated within seconds you need to reevaluate your life decision decisions. read more

They would make an appointment for my dogs and the waiting room was always filled. We would wait over an hour every single time over a 2 year span. The tech muzzled my puppy when cutting his nails and completely traumatized him. He has gone to a new vet twice for blood work (in the neck) and shots and never even moved. read more

I just took my little girl Sydney in to see Dr. Kaitlyn again today. She is such a down to earth person and Sydney really likes her. Sydney needed a bath, and I told her that she was getting pretty for Dr. Kaitlyn, and I still have a hard time believing how mellow Sydney acted. She even let me comb her out, since I was telling her she was going to be beautiful for Her Dr. Sure enough Dr. Kaitlyn took great care of my girl, answered all my questions, and concerns. We had a great experience here. We just moved here a little over a month ago and needed a new place to take our three dogs. The facility was very clean. We got all of their vaccines updated. I don't feel like anyone tried to upsale me or anything. Julie Gray was very knowledgeable. Her assistant Thomas was very friendly and patient and answered all my questions. We're new in town, staying in a hotel until our house closes. Our 9-year-old cat, Bella, had been throwing up bile for about a day and a half. We thought she may have ingested yet another earplug and was trying to get it up like she has in the past. The smell of urine woke me up around 4 am to find a lethargic cat that only wanted to isolate. We hadn't anticipated looking for a new vet this soon, but circumstances required us to do just that. I chose Arroyo based upon online reviews and their proximity to our hotel. Bella and I arrived at their offices just a few minutes after they opened at 8 am. The receptionist patiently listened as I explained my circumstances, new in town, cat in distress, etc. She explained, again very patiently, that they did not accept walk-in clients. I pointed out that being new in town and especially with a cat in distress, I was looking for a new vet. I told her that our conversation was very much like a job interview and that from that perspective, they weren't doing very well. I asked how they got new clients if they didn't accept walk-ins. I was advised that people made appointments and if I wanted to do so, they could see Bella in about a month. Bella, if you'll recall, is the cat in question that, being in distress, was in no position to wait "about a month" for care. The very patient receptionist very kindly referred me to Calista Animal Hospital where Bella was diagnosed with pancreatitis and is, at this writing, under care. Based solely on all the stellar reviews Arroyo has received, I am confident the professionals there provide equally stellar care. However, you would be well advised to plan your urgent care needs with Arroyo at least 30 days in advance. read more

This used to be a great place but recently Dr Jones wanted to take out 3-4 teeth from my 10 month old kitten. He only weighed 3 pounds and 1 ounce. She didn't even want to give his tiny body a chance to heal. He also has an undescended testicle and she wanted to go digging in his abdomen for that at the same time. She didn't tell me that raking out his teeth wouldn't cure the disease he had. She just wanted the $800+ to $1,000+ dollars. He was so tiny and weak I don't think he would have made it. She didn't care. She was insistent. I found my regular vet, Dr. Amber Thompson, who had moved to Jensen Equine. She prescribed a different antibiotic and now his teeth are Just Fine. He still has stomatosis but we are dealing with it. They were very careless and uncaring with Tim. Don't go there; don't trust them to do what's best for your pet. read more

Due to our Boston Terrier's declining health and vision, we elected to have him cared for rather than with an at-home care giver. Our pup requires regular feeding supplemented with special nutrients. Don't go to this Veterinary clinic!!!! There are other clinics in Las Cruces that will serve you sick pet better. I took in my sick pet on Friday afternoon. The Dr looked at her, diagnosed her and gave her some meds. On Saturday my pet was not doing well with the prescribed treatment. There is NO way to contact them on the weekend! Monday morning, as soon as they opened, I call and ask for advice with the treatment prescribed. They kindly took my message/questions. Told me they would look at my pets' record and call me back. Around noon, I politely asked again to get answers to my questions. I was told someone would call me back. No one called me back! They are happy to take you money, but not professional to answer questions for the treatment already paid for. If you love your pet, stay away from this clinic. read more

While passing through town my dog came down with a bad case of "digestion issues" (to put it nicely). Now, my dog is timid with new people at the best of times and has always hated going to the vet. I literally have to drag him shaking into the front door every time we go. These guys were great! Not only did they get us in on a same-day appointment but the facilities and staff were first class. My dog, Rocky, was still terrified but they made it as painless as possible - letting me be the one to hold him and not crowding him or making him feel backed into a corner (which is my biggest issue with our vets back home). It really felt like they understand animals and that each one has a different personality with different needs. We left with meds and, what I consider, a very reasonable bill. I can't thank James and Matthew enough for their care and only wish you guys were closer to where I live. read more

I really liked the clinic at first. The assistants do most of the work. A doctor comes in if there is to be a shot given, etc. Otherwise the assistants answer you're questions give paperwork, etc. I've had to wait at least 10 minutes every time I've taken my dog or, now, puppy for an appointment. I brought paperwork in with me as I had just gotten my puppy. The vet said they didn't care if he already had 2 shots they would start over and give him 5 shots! I was not comfortable with that at all. The shot is a mixture of 4 different vaccines including parvo. Last time I was waiting for the receptionist when a man walked in with a 3 mo. puppy. He said the puppy had been in a fight with an older dog of theirs and needed attention right away. The receptionist calmly responded "we don't take walk-ins." I was shocked that a supposedly caring animal clinic could look at the puppy's bloody paws & say "sorry". That's when I decided I was done with them. I want my dog to be cared for not processed like an inanimate object. read more

Only reason I gave a one is because 0 is not available. Took my pup years ago with the now I guess retired Dr. Shumacker. I have a sick 4 month old Samoyed Puppy I unfortunately took there to get help. The staff were callous and seemed only to be concerned if this Hispanic veteran was going to be able to pay. Fortunately they made me and my sick furbaby wait in the truck in the 100 degree heat where I was able to contact the emergency clinic on main who welcomed me to come over immediately. Long story short they saved my dogs life. So avoid this clinic at all cost . I will never go there again and definitely not refer anyone. read more

Have been taking both my small dogs to this clinic for several months now. So far I have only seen Dr. Thompson but have been very impressed with her knowledge and understanding. I had a vet in El Paso that I liked very much and even kept going back to her for over a year after we moved to Las Cruces because I could not find a vet locally that I liked before going to Dr. Thompson at Arroyo. I have lived in a number of states and seen lots of different vets over 30+ years of rescue dog ownership. I have a lot of experience with chronic and terminal illnesses so I appreciate a vet who will listen to my concerns and doesn't immediately assume they are the only one with knowledge of pet care. Dr. Thompson does this. The vet techs are friendly and competent. The waiting area and exam rooms are pleasant. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful.
