Unfortunately, the electrical upgrade to the campground was delayed until March/April of this year instead of being done in the fall of last year. Now the camping sites are in the process of trying to grow new grass as the sites are being used. While the electrical upgrades were needed and appreciated, the need for a previously discussed lighting upgrade within the campground has not been completed and poses an additional Safety Hazard to occupants of each upgraded site beyond that which already existed. Finally, Daily rates were increased from $17.00/site last year to $25.00 (30 amp) or $30.00 (50 amp) for the 2022 camping season. Longtime and dedicated Friends Creek campers feel that such a drastic cost increase is not justified and in fact, will have A negative impact to the 2022 season. Many of the dedicated campers have already started using other local campgrounds that provide better lighting, larger wash facilities, numerous playgrounds and local restaurants, and for a substantial decrease in daily rates.

The park itself is very pretty, lots of green space, very mature trees that provide a ton of shade, picnic tables, and fire rings and it is very clean. The downside is you are sandwiched between Highway 74 and a train track and it is very loud. I can honestly say and all of our travels this is the loudest we have ever had From a nearby highway. We had our overhead fan running on high all night and you could still hear the semi's rumbling by so we did not get a good night sleep. There is a nice pool here and they had music playing so the kids would probably really enjoy this place. Lots of room to roam! We were assigned slot 19, which is a nice pull through site. We did have a bit of trouble with low water pressure at this site. We also could not get the Wi-Fi to work. We could connect, but the speakers were so low. We couldn't do anything with it. We have Verizon and cell service was great so that worked out for us. At $36 per night for a 30 amp site with a good Sam discount it's a pretty good deal. Staff were super friendly as well.

Very clean and perfectly maintained shower house and laundry facilities. 1st class host(s) that escort you to your site and welcome you with a warm smile. The best part is that it's so peaceful and the small lake is very nice. I highly recommend it.

Explained the rules. After that another camp worker, sweet friendly woman escorted us to our spot. I had ordered fire wood online but, when she was bringing us to our site, there was "extra" from the previous campers. Long day of driving ended with a nice relaxing late afternoon/evening. If you don't have a boat, besides swimming and hiking, there aren't many activities especially for the kiddos. The bathroom situation here is not ideal AT ALL. You have to be a real trooper to use the "bathrooms" in the camping area. They're really just glorified outhouses or port-a-potties. And they STINK. I'd rather go in the woods or walk all the way up to the shower house, which is also equally if not more creepy. The showers feel very prisony. Camping spaces for rvs is really nice. There's a good amount of space to spread out, grill, or play whatever lawn games you surely brought along. all in all, this is great for the adventurer and seasoned camper. Just don't focus on hygiene

It's a huge park offering 550 acres with varied trails, river fir swimming, camping, fishing, picnic areas, two amphitheaters and a nice veteran tribute area. For a late May weekend, there was hardly anyone there. We felt we had the whole place to ourselves. The trail was clean and moderately easy. There was a meadow of wildflowers and they even have a "box" trail where they have many hummingbird nests. Birds can be spotted all over but hard to catch in snapshots! Veterans Point is very nicely done alongside the water with much patriotism which is always good to see. The walk along the water was very nice and we also discovered a dam, people hosting and kayaking. This makes for a nice day out here!

We booked the Lakeview shelter for a get together on a Saturday. There were 3 covered picnic…read moretables, enough room for 14 of us and food since we had a few lawn chairs. There was a firepit by the shelter. The restrooms were about 50 yards away. They were clean but the mens room had a bunch of mosquitoes. Surprisingly, the shelter itself was mostly bug free. Beyond the restrooms, a short stroll away, there was an overlook and another short walk led us to a boat ramp. All in all, it was a nice park.

The boardwalk is a lot older and more worn now, but it's still nice to stop, and there's a vantage point to look out on the river. I used to see beaver activity around the boardwalk, but not recently. The marina also of course offers a place to launch your boat for a fee, boat storage, RV storage and they do offer camping. I believe the three shed/cabins added several years ago are available for rent as well. When we drove through on our most recent visit, they'd added some beach camp sites with power. There's a playground, fire pits for the campsites and picnic tables.

It was 15$ a night, there's a fire ring, tables, and very clean bathrooms/showers. If you have a primitive spot and you can't find a spot #, you can just set up in an open spot on the beach.
