TEN STARS! I recently visited Imperial Dermatology and am so thankful I found Dr. Hou! I waited too…read morelong to address a skin concern on top of my ear, and to my surprise, I was diagnosed with Basal cell carcinoma... WTF!!!! The front office staff, Marci and Tiffany, were welcoming and transparent about pricing through my insurance. Emily, Lena, and Davina (Medical Staff) provided exceptional support, explaining everything in detail and easing my worries. I'm only 37 and I never thought I would have skin cancer, but they calmed me down. Dr. Hou and her team performed MOHS surgery right in the office just 10 days after my first visit, taking the minimum amount of skin as possible to successfully remove the cancer. They also took care of all the necessary forms and even provided letters to my employer, making the process seamless. When it comes to scary skin stuff, this is the only place I trust! I just can't see how someone can leave a bad review! I received a ton of skin care and sun care swag, and by my second appointment the whole team knew me by name and came in to check on me. BTW they call and confirm your appointment date and time at least twice leading up to any appointment so I don't see how anyone could miss/forget their appointment. Quite honestly, Ive had some not so good experiences at other places around my area in SGV because I felt like I was treated like a money customer rather than a patient. Im so glad I found her. It's worth driving so far for! Dr. Kang and her team are very organized and thorough. They listened to every concern and I had and didnt upsell me anything. No pressures at all. I felt very comfortable. I was so impressed they presented with me a quotation for the recommended procedures and information for aftercare right away before I made my decision so I know what to expect. SO PROFESSIONAL! I would recommend tho that they add something like "Downtime" and "Recovery Time" on the literature I received so I know how to plan out the procedures in the future (In case skin sheds or what not after procedure so I can plan off time from work). That being said, I got one of the recommended procedures done on the same day because I know there was little downtime. Bonus! I underwent QS Alexandrite laser treatment and 3DMIRACL UltraClear for facial sunspots and resurfacing, and I'm so happy with the glowing results. There was little to no discomfort and minimal downtime. Throughout the process, Dr. Kang was honest and never recommended anything invasive. She is incredibly patient, answered all of my questions, and took the time to clearly explain each step. I especially appreciated that she never tries to upsell treatments and always provides her honest professional opinion. Dr. Kang's staff, Sabrina and Jada, are both warm and welcoming. They did what they could but told me to contact a dermatologist for further treatment and diagnosis. After multiple offices told me I'd have to wait weeks to months, Renu Dermatology was able to get me in the same week. Dr. Nguyen performed a punch biopsy on my skin, thoroughly explained the lab results to me, and provided the proper treatment. I also got treated here for my eczema. He prescribed medication that gave me the clearest skin I've seen in YEARS. I was finally able to wear clothes I couldn't wear before due to insecurity about my skin's appearance. I eventually ran out of the medication, so my eczema has been gradually returning. I plan on scheduling another appointment. I previously went to my primary care doctor for help with my eczema, but I always felt rushed, had to wait a long time despite having an appointment, the staff weren't very knowledgeable, were rude, the treatment was ineffective, and I was referred to a dermatologist with poor reviews. It ruined my view of seeking dermatologic care until I found Renu Dermatology. Dr. Nguyen and Nurse Vanessa are amazing. Nurse Vanessa was always in the room during my appointments, which made me feel more comfortable. They take their time with appointments, are gentle, listen carefully, and explain things thoroughly. They're punctual as well--I never experienced long wait times here. The office is located in the Martin Luther Medical Plaza with plenty of parking. Many of the offices look similar, so make sure to read the signs carefully.

He spends majority of the time with you on his phone (most likely charting) but still, I would like my acne to be looked at before given prescriptions. What he had been prescribing had not been working, and at my last appointment, I came in requesting to be put on a popular acne medication for women. He began a rant how he doesn't prescribe that and how I will struggle with infertility due to my age and that the medication would make it worse. While this may be true, the bedside manner in which this was told to me was harsh and too blunt. He prescribed me instead a medication that was $200, which is too much for me to pay for a medication that may or may not work. He had also told me at one of my recent appointments that I had perioral dermatitis. After now seeing a new dermatologist, everything he had told me was not true (false information about the medication, my diagnosis). If possible; avoid coming here. My concerns were not heard and my skin was barely even glanced at.

She was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. She didn't rush me at all and answered all my questions and was very thorough in her examination. Also a huge plus (because I've heard it's an issue with other offices) she wasn't pushy at all about extra treatments or products. She suggested things that could help but it definitely felt informational and not salesy. She even gave me a sample of skincare to try.
