Doesn't come up with a real strategy of how to handle your case, just tells you what the law says, but not how she's going to deal with it to help your case beyond standard filings (she's probably very jaded at this, which is understandable). When asked about her strategy, she said she yells. Not a strategy (a tactic) and not an impressive one although I will admit the magistrates in Family Court aren't very bright, so maybe that's what she has to do. Overall nice enough at first, but too pricey for the advice and results you get from her.

I suggest NO ONE should retain her...... do not waste your money and time. otherwise, she will continue mistreat her client.

I was also very impressed that Galit continued to carve out time with me to discuss any issues I might have experienced, and to ensure I was satisfied with the service.

The attorney Steven Cohen disappeared from my case halfway through the process, and both Steven Cohen and attorney Allison Ramelson-Kert gave poor advice that nearly prevented me from achieving my goal in court. It was very disappointing to have Cohen and Ramelson-Kert offer no support to perform the final important services to help achieve my goal. Additionally, their billing department, specifically Keysy Gordon, is excruciatingly slow to respond and sends incomplete invoices. The experience with this law firm during an incredibly painful and traumatic time period only added to the pain. The value in this law firm is simply awful. Please stay away from this law firm. Save yourself further pain and wasted money during what is likely a trying time in your life.

I retained Rebecca Dahlen to represent me in a matrimonial matter and unfortunately had a very…read moredisappointing experience. My primary concerns were responsiveness, timeliness, and preparedness. On multiple occasions, I had to follow up for work or information that I expected to receive without repeated prompting. At one point, I specifically confirmed in advance that materials I had provided would be reviewed before a scheduled meeting, but I came away from the meeting concerned that the necessary preparation had not occurred. The representation ultimately ended when Rebecca decided to terminate the attorney-client relationship. Even after that decision, I experienced delays with the transition to replacement counsel and had to repeatedly follow up regarding my file and work product. Most frustratingly, after Rebecca and I had spent considerable time reviewing a settlement agreement provision by provision and discussing proposed changes, the marked-up document reflecting that work was not included in the file initially transferred to my new attorney, requiring yet another follow-up. Divorce matters are already stressful, and I believe clients should be able to expect timely communication, careful preparation, and an orderly transition if representation ends. Unfortunately, my experience fell well short of those expectations.

Like every lawyer I speak with, I asked her about her caseload to determine if she could commit the amount of time I needed for my case. Her reply, "Why would I tell you that, I don't even know you." She can't even have a civil conversation with a prospective client, so that closed the door for me. I thanked her for her time and said I'll contact her if I want to schedule a time. As I also found out, she does not take feedback well. She tried to have my review on Avvo removed. So I'm putting it here. And the review continues to live on that website. I give the highest recommendation possible for the work she has done for me as well as her demeanor and professionalism. Helene has the unique ability to be paradoxically empathetic and understanding and yet commanding and resolute when needed; I believe these are the personality traits that make for the best of attorneys. What initially drew me to Ms. Bernstein's practice and proved to be true over the years was that she also works as a mediator and looks to resolve contention rather than to win conflicts. In the long run, this proved extremely worthy as well as valiant and likely contributed to her winning my case for me. Our conversations were always about what is just and fair and most importantly, what was in the best interest of my children. Helene is well organized, communicative, thoughtful, open-minded, reliable and is an extremely hard worker. She took great care in my case, with meticulous notes that she always shared with me. Ms. Bernstein prepared myself and the other witnesses properly when we had to testify and always patiently clarified legal procedures for me and advised me well, even when it was not in her own financial best interest. She was also completely upfront and open about both her fees as well as other legal costs that would impact my case. I am so glad that Ms. Bernstein has been my attorney and sincerely give her the highest rating of endorsement possible.
