Worst dental experience I've ever had. I had two fillings done here that still hurt months later, which is completely unacceptable. I also had bonding done that chipped within a month--something that should not happen if done correctly. When I went back to have it fixed, the redo was even worse. I was left with a visibly crooked tooth, swollen gums, and no real effort or accountability to correct the situation. What's most concerning is the lack of care or urgency to fix obvious mistakes. Instead of making it right, it felt dismissed and brushed off. On top of that, the hygienist experience was just as disappointing--disorganized, unprofessional, and lacking the attention to detail you expect in a medical setting. I would not trust this office with any dental work moving forward. read more

Dr. Aro is not in the office on certain days and often when the hygienist does my cleaning, he's not there to check for cavities and such after the cleaning. This puts the entire evaluation solely in the hands of the dental hygienist. It is hard and pretty much impossible to speak to the Dr. Aro about any concerns because he is not around or unable to get a hold of. There was a dental emergency after hours and he did not answer his phone. There has been some change in office staff and it makes matters even more difficult. The new office manager has been difficult to deal with and the other scheduling gal seems to still be learning still after several months. read more

I never got in to see him. I had an appointment to see him once my insurance kicked in at the first of the year. I filled out and submitted all their forms (confidential medical info) and they let me know in Dec 31st they no longer were taking my insurance. Unacceptable! read more

I have been a patient of Dr Aro for many years. I've always had a good relationship with him and a positive outcome with my dental work until recently when I questioned a charge for an upgraded service on a new crown that was not covered by my insurance. I have NEVER been billed this additional charge. My dental work always goes through an EOB so I know what I'm paying. Now with a new,VERY unkind, and absurdly rude office manager, I brought this to her attention, as did my husband, who is also a patient there on different occasions and she was completely demeaning. I also called my PPO insurance who called the office directly while I was on hold to dispute it. Shortly after, in the mail I received reimbursement with an unsigned letter saying Dr Aros office will no longer be able to provide me dental care "due to a breakdown in the doctor- patient -staff relationship." I tried calling Dr Aro to speak directly to him and left messages but he has not returned my calls. This is very disappointing due to my longstanding relationship with Dr Aro and the very poor treatment and complete disrespect from the office manager. read more

I had a great experience at first visit and so on until they changed the hygienist. I just did my cleaning this month. It was an unpleasant experience and i wanted to talk to the doctor. Sent message via FB page, no response then I decided to write. After sending the first email i got a reply from the office manager then I requested to write to the doctor directly but then no feedback. As a patient I am unable to reach out to the doctor to voice out my concern. In fact, i can just stop going (i never file a complaint in my life) but i am more worried about the future patients. i was hoping i would let him know what is going on. I have been a patient here for many years and have been fairly unsatisfied with my experience, but my insurance options are limited so I stuck it out. The front desk staff and hygienists are nice and friendly. Dr. Aro, however, has spent very little time with me, didn't walk me through a numbing process last year, I've had to wait at least twice for him to arrive to the office for a morning appointment. He has been unprofessional and lacking care. At my most recent appointment -which was the last straw for me- he suggested Botox as a solution to jaw and neck pain. I didn't know how to respond, I was in shock that he could even recommend that. I find this highly unprofessional and showing a lack of care in helping me figure out the root cause of issues and pain I am experiencing with my jaw, which I had brought up to him a couple years ago. Additionally, the most recent x-rays were sent from this office to my new dentist and they found 4 cavities which Dr. Aro and his staff did not notice (or did notice but didn't tell me). This is the best dental office I have ever been to and I'm 65 and have been to several in my lifetime! COVID ALERT - Aro Dental's hygeniest is unvaxed. I had my 6-month dental cleaning Dec 22, 2021 and mid-way in the cleaning between rinses, I was chatting w/ the hygeniest and the conversation turned to Covid. She seemed rather proud to announce that she'd signed a waiver so her 7 & 9 year old kids don't have to wear a mask at their school. Then she dropped the bomb that she had Covid for two weeks, and stayed home an additional week. She had no idea where she caught the 'germs' but wow - until she came down with the symptoms, she was coming to work. She was wearing a flimsy paper mask, not a quality mask or a face shield, that my other hygeniests and dentists would wear years ago. I would have jumped right out of the chair, but was in the midst of the cleaning. After the cleaning the hygeniest explained that she gets a Covid test every Friday. Ok - so this is my comfort that she is Covid-free? My appt was on Tuesday; so between Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon and Tues morning, how many people did she come in contact with? I had no thought of checking with the Dental office prior to the appointment if they had a Covid protocol, just assuming that all health offices are protecting themselves as well as their patients. My hygeniest was 12 inches from my face and in my mouth. The next two days, I called twice to speak to Dr. Aro, and texted as well. No return phone calls; the receptionist finally texted back, I've given your message to Dr. Aro, but he is busy between two offices; I will remind him again today." No return phone calls. My wife and I had a good experience with Dr. Aro. He seems like a straight shooter and gives his honest opinion even if it's not the most lucrative option. Great office, staff is kind and courteous, they deal with my medicare supplement insurance without issues. I get good cleanings by the hygienists, not too easy or too ruff. Dr Aro is great, I have had a couple old crowns replaced a couple of new ones. He is meticulous, very detailed and very contentious of your well being. Knows when to give you a break and a breather moment. Equipment is modern and up to date. I'm 68 years old and have been to and number of dentists and I consider Dr Aro to be one of the top 2 dentists I have ever had. Highly satisfied and happy to find his office. read more

And no bike rack!!! I can't actually review Dr Aro because I just walked out of his reception before making it to my appointment. Not something I've ever felt compelled to do anywhere before. I know it's a long review but I couldn't seem to cut it down. I booked an appointment on a Monday after phoning Aro dental to ask a few questions and compare with Dr Ng (I'd narrowed it down to the two best Yelp choices available on my insurance.) The women I spoke to on the phone seemed really irritated by the three questions I had written down to ask with regards to pricing at Aro Dental and told me in an agitated tone that it was irrelevant because of my insurance (I'm new to the US and private insurance, I'm sorry.) She was really short with me though. I went ahead and booked the appointment regardless of what a bad taste the interaction left as Dr Aro has all great reviews and they are a couple of blocks from my house. Sometimes you catch someone on a bad day too. Whatever. Fast forward to Wednesday morning and I show up to my appointment at 10:50am for the 11am appointment and the two women at the desk were both incredibly rude. She informed me in a really accusatory voice that they had tried to phone me but my phone was disconnected. I replied by saying that sometimes things get lost in translation over the phone because of my accent. No acknowledgement that that could have been the case. I sat down to fill out the forms wondering why I was now feeling reprimanded??? It was a rude enough interaction that I sat there looking at my forms unable to concentrate and feeling confused about what had just happened. I approached the desk again and asked if they'd actually phoned to change the appointment time? (Maybe that's why they were so irritated!?) She replied sharply that they had been phoning to confirm. I asked if they could check what number they had for me on file? Sure enough what they had written as a 6 in my number was meant to be a 0. There was no apology for the confusion and her tone didn't change at all. Again I sat down and continued to try to fill out the form, I could hardly concentrate, I was so annoyed by how I'd been made to feel like an annoyance and as though I had done something wrong!!?? Then it occurred to me, hang on a minute, I don't owe these guys anything. I haven't even sat in the chair yet and I feel like crap about being here. Forget it. I approached the desk and explained that I was really unhappy with the way I'd been spoken to over the phone and in person this morning and if it wasn't too late I'd prefer not to take the appointment. I feel pretty sure that Dr Aro is great, people seem to be really happy with him. I'm really confused, however, about the positive comments regarding his staff. That was maybe the worst customer experience I've encountered since moving to the US. The people you place in the front of your business are so important, I hope it was a one off but either way they lost my business for good. read more

I never thought I'd be writing a Yelp review (let alone for a dentist office), but I just had to. This place absolutely lives up to its name and reputation. The staff is extremely friendly, and I mean EXTREMELY, the atmosphere is great and makes you feel VERY comfortable, and Dr. Aro himself is as professional as they come-- he's cool, friendly, well spoken, calm, patient, honest and fully confident in his knowledge and what he does. I went there for four cavity fillings/filling replacements, cleaning, bleaching and one wisdom tooth extraction, and I felt absolutely no pain during or after the procedure. Went there to fix my 3 front teeth that were damaged as a result of an accidental fall. I was a little scared that I will have to get implants and that it will be very pricey, and painful. Dr. Aro was very positive and re-assuring that it will be a pain-less process and that he can save my teeth. Fortunately, after a few sessions, I was not disappointed with the end result, my teeth look great and better than before, like nothing happened and with no pain. Our family have been patients of Dr. Aro since 2013 when our previous dentist retired. I have experienced nerve pain in my jaw for 10 years after several botched dental procedures when we lived in another state. After Dr. Aro read the chronology of the facts of my situation and did a thorough examination, he recommended a solution to my problems. This resulted in a partial that not only realigned my jaw (which was the root of the problem), but has seriously diminished my pain. I feel like I have a new lease on life thanks to Dr. Aro's expertise. I got transferred here for an appointment from Peak Dentistry and thought it was fine, until they didn't have the price Peak told me it would be and I ended up paying a few hundred dollars more. I don't have dental insurance so was a little bummed by that, but that was partially my bad. I had a weird experience at Peak, so I decided to get my next cleaning at Aro, and it was the worst dental experience of my life. First, they couldn't get my x-rays to load so had to take more. I don't have dental insurance so didn't want to pay for them again, when I had just had them. The hygienist was rude and not understanding of that, but got the go-ahead to not charge me for them. She then went on to berate me the entire time she was cleaning my teeth about how terrible my teeth were, told me I was going to be in dentures in no time and that I really needed to get braces because my teeth were in terrible shape. I was on the verge of tears. I had gotten them cleaned 6 months prior at Peak and they didn't tell me anything overly negative about my habits. She only made it through my bottom teeth and told me I had to come back in to finish the top. So, I gave myself a pep talk and went in for round two a few weeks later. I had a different hygienist who was extremely pleasant and told me my teeth weren't that bad, I had probably just had a sub-par cleaning before. I ultimately decided to switch back to Peak because of the first hygienist, but also because of the limited hours Aro is open. I don't fault them for being a small practice, but it was difficult to find times that work for my schedule. Of the 4 times I went, I was rescheduled on two of them, which just get complicated. Peak also does endo work, which I did need and so it was easier to just switch back there. I thought Dr. Aro was very nice and seemed to do a good job, so if you have a flexible schedule and don't mind potentially mean hygienists (or have stellar teeth), then you should be fine. read more

Dr. Aro, is the best dentist that I know. He is compassionate, honest, and very knowledgeable in all areas. I known Dr. Aro for many years. I worked for him and I also continue to be his patient, even though I have moved 3 hours away. I found myself with a severe toothache, and I knew that I could call Dr. Aro, and he would take care of me and my tooth. My experience with my root canal and crown that was done was exceptional. He saved my tooth and my crown feels great, I left the office smiling. His staff is very professional and friendly and I always feel welcome. After a horrible experience at Broad Street Smiles, ending in a bogus dental work estimate of more than $1,000, it was absolutely refreshing to experience such a kind, honest dentist with a conservative approach, who estimated only $200 of work actually being needed. My first interaction with the office staff wasn't great. I was told they weren't contracted with my insurance. I had to call my insurance plan to get to the bottom of it. After my insurance contacted their office to clarify, I promptly received a call from the office manager who apologized and got me scheduled right away. Mistakes happen, no biggie. Setting that aside, my experience was incredible. I barely even sat down in the waiting room before I was called back. Once in the exam chair, I waited maybe 10 minutes, and was acknowledged during that time. Dr. Aro spent about 25 minutes with me, which was quite generous for a second opinion consult. He was very relatable, honest, and human--something so many dentists and providers lack. Finding this dentist was like catching a breath of fresh air, especially after my experience with Dr. Fitch! I actually look forward to getting my fillings done next month. My only recommendation for this office is to re-educate staff on contracted plans. read more
