They're also booked out super far so it might take a year or more to fix the hypothetical 10 cavities, by which point the decay may well have spread down into your tissue requiring a root canal. Absolutely ridiculous. I had been experiencing extreme pain in my back molar in the lower right side of my mouth to the point that I'd been unable to eat or drink out of that side of my mouth for a year and a half. They suggested it was "phantom pain" and when I called because it was worsening they were incredibly condescending, asking if I wanted to come in for my "tooth ache". It took about a dozen appointments before they referred me to an endodontist - all the while billing Medi Cal for each 5 minute visit. The endodontist recommended I get a crown on the affected tooth, and if that didn't address the issue, I pursue a root canal. I promptly called Adventist Health inquiring whether they could do a crown. They said they could not, and offered up 3 dentists covered by Medi Cal within 50 miles who could. I picked one and they said they would put the referral through and the referred dentist would call me once it had been processed. I still hadn't heard anything a month later, so I called Adventist Health to check on the status of the referral. Get this: They never sent it in and seemed to have no recollection of our conversation on the phone. What's more, they now needed me to come in for another "exam" in order to determine if I was eligible for the referral. Clearly the previous 12 exams hadn't been sufficient. Nor the referral to an endodontic specialist, which clearly indicated that there was an issue beyond their expertise. But when I came in and explained the situation, suddenly they decided they didn't need to see me. Great. Thanks for wasting my time. I'm in Chico, so each visit to Adventist Health is a 50 minute round trip. About a month after that, I went in for my annual cleaning. I had to reschedule it for a few days later and the person on the phone confirmed it was indeed a cleaning, and I wrote it down in the calendar on my phone as such. When I got there, they said it wasn't a cleaning but yet another exam (#13??), and that Medi Cal only covers annual, not bi-annual cleanings. I asked when I was due for my annual cleaning (aka had it been more than a year since my last one.) They said it in fact had and that I was due for my cleaning, but they couldn't do the cleaning because they had for some reason booked me for yet another exam and hadn't allocated a large enough time slot for the cleaning. When I protested, they accused me of not listening and lying about everything that I had been told - all while they have consistently wasted my time so that they could bill as many BS 5 minute "exam" visits to Medi Cal as possible. Enough is enough. I honestly should have stormed out of there at that point. I have never encountered such an unprofessional, nefarious business that is so comfortable gaslighting me, accusing me of lying and wasting my time. Do yourself a big favor and avoid these crooks. If I could rate them 0 I would.

You may or may not love the physician assigned to you, but you can never get away from the rudeness of staff you must deal with for each and every transaction. In an attempt tonight to visit rapid care, the sliding glass doors were locked and I could not gain entrance. There were persons standing about 15 feet away at the front desk that ignored my knocks on the glass door. I contacted the after hours emergency answering service while still standing near the front door. After I had reached an answering service person that could not understand why I would be locked out when the clinic was open and was attempting to contact the advice doc for me, one of the persons at the front desk came out 20 minutes after I knocked, to inform me they closed early as they were short staffed--with no change to the message for the facility and no notice on the front door. I provided one star as the facility is newer and in good shape.

The staff in the pediatric office are very nice as well. The patient room is pleasant and at a comfortable temperature, being that you have to immediately undress your baby upon entering. I always get so nervous knowing that my son will be receiving shots. But the staff allows you to be with them and hold their hands while they quickly administer them. They even give you plenty of time to comfort them afterwards, never pushing you to leave. Overall, great experience even though it's a medical environment. The only suggestion I have is maybe some mood music in the waiting room to drown out the sad wailings of kids down the hall. It always breaks my heart to hear them but I know they are getting the best care.
