if you want quality work, take it to arney's. classic story of amateur mechanic gets in over his head about motorcycle project & has to seek help. didn't realize i found the best help i could have asked for. i brought my honda shadow to arney's after calling from shop to shop looking for someone to help me with this project i had started. they said to bring it in & they'll have a look & see about a quote. immediately i was nervous because this bike was in SHAMBLES. but i bring it anyway, they take a look, & after some discussion it's determined that they can take it on. we offload the bike & get a quote & im on my way. fast forward a few weeks, i get a call that it's ready for pickup. & when i get there, it looks like a totally different bike & runs like brand new. best part of it all, they worked with our budget & did exactly what i requested, the whole time calling when anything major was necessary or any changes needed to be made. i couldn't have asked for a better experience, nor more experienced people to work on this. if your bike needs some work, take it to arney's motorcycle garage. they made a lifetime customer out of me! thanks again!! read more

The only reason I give this place two stars is because of Chris. Otherwise I wouldn't rate them at all. After the way the owner James spoke to me today, I will never do business here again. I've come by roughly 3 times, two for advice (which practically was told over the phone by the owner that their time is worth too much for that). I've also had my bike serviced here which I appreciated from Chris. He's always taken care of me. Here's where the issue comes into play. I stopped by having issues removing a passenger peg to get to the "D clip" to change it & their tech tried to help & apparently said it was slightly bent so he attempted to bend it back & it snapped. They told me they would order me a new one. Next day, didn't hear from anyone Third day, called to follow up with, said they couldn't find the part & if I could they would install it for me. I asked how they would cover the part if I was to look and buy it. The owners began a argument with me saying how They've always worked on my bike for free (which is not true) they have to take time out of their day to help me (as if that isn't their job?) and then cursed at me multiple times not understanding how they're liable to fix the issue. I was never told they weren't gonna cover it, and if the part appeared damaged to the tech why would you continue to try and bend it knowing it would possibly snap? So now I'm out a peg & Harley wants about $130 for it so thank you guys for that! Customer service is shit there, save yourself the headache. They'll take your money all day but you ask for advice or anything outside of their job description apparently they want to be paid for it too. read more

To me this is more about a quality person who cares about cycling and those who ride. Sometimes addressing issues of safety that I was unaware of. Rear brakes on one cycle. He offered invaluable advice on dealing with an aging tiring machine that potentially saved me 1000s. Sometimes we fall in love with these machine and build a relationship with them, but ultimately they are just machines and sometimes it's cheaper to move on to the next. Last year I brought my C109r for a rear tire change and a complete clutch job. On Monday while riding down the 15 , my clutch failed. I had the bike towed from San Diego to Arney's garage which is closed on Monday. On Tuesday I returned to the shop with the key and talked to an unknown man who was working on some of the bikes. I asked him if I had the clutch replaced a little less than a year ago, would it be covered. He stated he did not know but Arney would be back in a few and I could call him to discuss. Spoke with Arney a little later and he said that the manufacturer of the clutch probably wouldn't cover it because they don't know what kind of driving I was doing with it. I contacted the manufacturer he told me made the clutch and they responded right back stating they do not make a clutch kit for C109's. I called Arney back and told them what they had told me and his response was, I believe it was that one but it was probably Ebsco. This guy didn't bother to look my bike up or even look at it. I told him it was amazing that my rear tire has very little wear (same tire he installed) but my clutch is shot. I bought this bike used and replaced the first clutch 5 years after I bout it, so there is no reason that this clutch which cost over $750 should have failed. I've driven that bike approximately 800 miles since then. Needless to say, I towed the bike back to my house. I will be getting a real professional to look at and replace my clutch this time around. If I am told that that clutch should have never failed, someone will be making this right! Don't use this guy if you value your time and your motorcycle. Eventually, the reviews will show. In response to the business owners response: 1. I never asked you to bump my bike to the front. 2. It wasn't a year ago, it was June 21, 2018. 3. A reputable business should have documents on services performed for at least a year. 4. I was never given the opportunity to have you assess the work that YOU did. You were short and never once did You look at it. You were too busy insinuating I caused the damage and telling me that the manufacturer would not cover it (all without looking, or starting the bike). 5. It's called customer service. My little Havana Classic scooter gave up on me a few weeks ago. I hadn't been able to ride in much in the past few months, and unfortunately it gave out when I tried to start it. I called Arney's to ask if this was a bike that they could work on, and he said yes. So I had AAA drop it off at the shop. When he tried to start it, he immediately said it was likely the carburetor, but he would also give it a full service. About a week and a half later, I got a call saying he had finished up all the work. Total price tag was a little under 200 bucks for a new carb and general service. He also advised me upon pickup to go top it off with some premium fuel. Great work for a fair price and friendly service.
