What can you do if you're in Myrtle Beach and your from out of town and you have a dental emergency? Call Myrtle Beach Dental Associates. Hands down this was an outstanding find and experience. My wife's entire front tooth broke and fell out and we were in town for a family funeral. I called numerous dental offices, all were nice, but only this dental artist could immediately see my wife, he fixed her smile in only a few hours and were extremely fair with the price. The facility is brand new too. I cannot say enough nice things about our experience. Highly highly recommend.

However, when I was taken to the room, the assistant said it would actually be $309. When I asked why, she said, "It's just a $10 difference," which is not true -- it's $19. I told her I would be paying cash (no insurance) and that I didn't appreciate the price changing before we even started. She said she would go check the price and never came back. After 40 minutes, I went out myself and found her just standing there. She said they had increased the prices and that the front desk "didn't know." Then the doctor, Robert Huggins, came in and said prices were higher because I made the appointment "a month ago." That's not true -- I scheduled it three days before. He apologized and agreed to honor the original $290 price, and even said he'd do it for $280. He gave me anesthesia at 11:10 a.m. and said he would start in a few minutes. But he didn't come back for almost an hour -- until 11:55. By that time, the anesthesia was already wearing off. When I told him this was unacceptable, he said, "You're right, I should've told you to come next week, because I'm too busy today." Then he gave me two options: he said he could either start right now and finish everything in 15 minutes, or reschedule me for another day. So basically, after sitting in that chair for three and a half hours, hungry, numb, and ignored, he suddenly decided my treatment could be rushed in just 15 minutes. That's not normal, and it's absolutely unacceptable. Even though it was an emergency for me and I decided to let him fix the tooth that day, I left the clinic completely drained and disappointed. No one offered water, no one apologized. At the end, he gave me a $50 discount, and I ended up paying $618 in total. I will never come back to this place again -- and I don't recommend it to anyone who expects respect, honesty, and professionalism

And Frankie was unwilling to work with me as well, because, she said, "that's not how we do things here anymore." Apparently, much has changed in a year, sadly. There was a GLITCH with my insurance, not on my end, but on the insurance company end. This happened once before about a year ago here and it all worked out and went through fine at this same office. This time, I had the same problem. I reminded her that this happened before but Kylie/Keely refused to help me after I was passed to her by Frankie (who also told me she would not work with me to sort it out), insisting I pay out of pocket. Not only did I remind her that this happened previously and had the proof to show it all worked out (EOB's), I also had my insurance info available as well as had my insurance company call and verify my info directly with Kylie/Keely and send her proof of current good standing insurance coverage! Kylie/Keely insisted that this was not enough "proof" of insurance, and even with my credit card on file, insurance calling her directly, insurance company directly sending proof of coverage to Kylie/Keely and Frankie, and my willingness to pay out of pocket if need be and providing them with my credit card, she absolutely refused to believe I had coverage and would not work with me whatsoever. WHAT!?!? So Kylie/Keely took my credit card, immediately billed me and refused all info that came directly from my insurance company.... directly from the insurance company!!! I will never ever go here again, nor will my family. My suggestion? Get a new insurance person for the office because Kylie/Keely will most definitely cost you more customers. Firstly, her attitude is incredulous! I have never been treated so poorly. I am NOT a scumbag. I pay my bills and work hard to ensure I have proper insurance and take care of my debts...but Kylie/Keely and Frankie made me feel like I was nothing. I have never been made to feel so terrible in my life by anybody. Frankie should not be employed there either, given her lack of wanting to help patrons and refusing to do anything to work with me for absolutely no reason other than that is not how things are done in your office anymore! You just lost an entire family full of business....a family FULLY insured and who pays any and all copays in full and on time.

It was going to be a tough extraction as the roots were long and fragile. I was dreading it, but his staff was great as was Dr. Rollar. He worked hard getting it, but I felt no pain or panic at all. It was the beginning of many months of visits as a bone graft had to be done, months of healing time, several imagings done to monitor bone growth, the post for the implant had to be put in and then the bone allowed to grow around that. At each step, I was given clear information of what was to be done and why. The pricing was explained in full at the very beginning so there were no surprises. The staff was great and seemed well trained for their various positions. The imaging equipment was impressive, allowing me to view multiple views. Unfortunately, the billing office completely undermines that experience. After a routine visit on March 19, I received a bill right before leaving for a family vacation (April 3-17). When I returned, my entire family came down with COVID, which delayed me from going through my mail. As soon as I reviewed it, I immediately called and paid the balance on May 1. Despite that, I received a letter from the billing office claiming no payment had been made and stating I would now be required to pay in full at the time of service. The tone was unnecessarily harsh and accusatory, especially given my consistent history of paying my balances over the past three years. Including a policy as if I were unaware or negligent felt condescending and completely disregarded the reality that sometimes life happens. There was no attempt at understanding--just a blanket, impersonal response. It's unfortunate because the quality of care from the doctor is not reflected in how patients are treated on the administrative side. In the end, the billing office's approach was enough for me to take my care elsewhere. If you choose to go here, be aware: the medical care may be great, but the billing experience can leave a very different impression.
