As a station, this one really isn't all that particularly great though - accessibly, but somewhat grotty and a bit dull.

Another popular station ..... being in the Hospital District with lots of Medical support services…read more..... and a large population in the area, it gets quite a workout. It's located at the town centre so as soon as you depart the station you are on the main drag with all the shops, eateries and hotels at your disposal. It's always clean & well lit so I would consider it one of the safer stations as well. If you are a St George fan ..... get off at Carlton station .... as it's closer to Jubilee Oval.

Then again, in the grand scheme of things, particularly when it comes to railway stations, it probably is new. Anyway, this is the station that you DON'T get off at if you want to go to the airport. The reason I mention this is that apparently a lot of people do, and then get really confused when they can't find the airport. It's an okay station otherwise, though they should have a big 'NOT THE AIRPORT' scrawled all over it (though they used to call it Suburban).

I the newer areas the platforms are underground and cater for the people travelling to the eastern and southern suburbs and the airports. The train station opens early and there are only a few cafes . One cafe has egg and bacon burgers with hot coffee that is to die for!

It services the international terminal of SYD, and will take you to the main heart of the Sydney railway (Central Station) in under 15 minutes. The same train will take you further towards the Sydney Harbour, and we found it to be the easiest way to get to the International Cruise Port for a cruise, after flying internationally from the States. The Metro implemented a cash-less system, where you can either use a purchased tap card, or just use your tap-enabled credit card as your ticket. It cost about $17.34 AUD for the one-way trip to Quay station, and its important to tap in and tap out with the same card, so the system knows how much to charge. It was interesting in that the authorization on the card is just for $1 AUD, and the settlement will obviously be more quite a bit more. The station is about 75 feet underground, and is quite large and wide. There are elevators and escalators servicing this distance, and could be a bit of a challenge with luggage. I loved the train cars: every other car had an entrance door station level, but each car connected on both sides was a double decker, with a choice to go down or up stairs if finding open seats. Granted, it does take some maneuvering with luggage, but it's an efficient way to put more people in a car, letting them self-select if they can make to the upper/lower levels, leaving the main cars for those that have the bulkiest luggage.

Crook cab driver ripped us off driving from domestic terminal to international terminal. Couldn't take the free shuttle due to check in closing 1.5 hours prior to departure. Checking in, security and walking to gate took over 45 mins Total. If I have the energy I will report him when back In Sydney! Terrible way to start this leg of the trip.

However, as a station it really isn't all that bad, and is pretty accessible. Then again it is a subway station, so that is sort of expected.

However, it is located right in the heart of Newtown, which means getting to its many delights is actually quite easy, and the trains run rather regularly as well. Okay, a number to pass straight through, considering that there are a few express routes along this line, but it is still pretty awesome.

The station itself has a lift and is well posted . There is good signage to tell you when and which platforms are the next trains. You must have an Opal Card to travel on trains, buses and ferries in Sydney. There is concession cards and a senior card that you can apply for on line.

Like many of the stations in Sydney, especially the ones closer to the city, this station is a very…read moreaccessible station, and is also pretty close to the shopping district which, once again, seems to be a common factor with a lot of these stations. The other thing is that the trains through here are fairly frequent, though not all of them stop. Then again, this is a major line so I am not all that surprised since this isn't a major station.
