My 32-year-old son went to arms aceas about2 months for alcholol use To stop drinking and wanted a better life.. He started as an inpatient for about about a week to 10 days. He was treated with drugs. And given perscription meds to be on ..although he saw a Dr and a therapist. These appts were few and far between. With little real value. He was not alcholol free and continued the meds . All their treatment program did was add neds to his alchol use . To be fare, he did cut down on alchol use and switched to spiked teas Little to no history done , we his parents never been contacted. Little to no meaningful follow up . The result of his treatment now besides drinking he took meds daily. He was not alcohol I believe that their alcholol program a shame and scam.and can be dangerous And thete are others who posted the same Tara posted her brother was dead 5 days after he entered their facility . Sheb claims poor care , said aminals treated better ,and said, don't send anyone you love there . I agree . Although there are other factors involved ,there drug based program is not suited for everyone and their lack of screening and almost no follow up . From my experience this is perhaps one of the best programs that I have ever been to. The level of care I received was meaningful. The importance of the meetings directed by the professional is impacting. I experienced an important change due to their professionalism caring staff. Sadly I have been a "patient" there twice..2018. I, sigh, relapsed 2024. Honestly my first 2 times were pretty good. Yeah alot of girls were fighting, overall though met alot of great people. So 2024...relapsed. Was checked into detox...compared to 2018 it was a horror show. "Patients" ( particularly men) totally ran the detox floor..( I'm female). Men wandering in women's area...women were psychotic...food was inedible..."Mean girls" took over the little TV room. 2018 in detox we at in cafeteria. Now it was...no joke..food that was burnt...a cheese sandwich etc..and the female...let's call them guards allowed the men to go to the vending area...but nope, not the women. B wing wad overcrowded so we were stuck in detox..Anyway I was intimidated and miserable checked out of detox after 4 days. read more

I hoped the "scared straight" angle would work but didn't. It's a true prison atmosphere with the majority of patients court mandated and some were just doing their time and that's not fair to the other patients. The review should have been written a year ago, but it's taken me that long to try and process the events that occurred there .This facility is HORRIFIC, it should be shut down! My brother went there to get they help that he needed and after just being there for 5 days he left in a body bag. He was over medicated! 18 hours before he passed he was sent to the ER because he was vomiting and having trouble breathing. The diagnosis from the ER stated "OVERDOSE OF MEDICATION"!!! That apparently didn't matter because he still received the same regiment of medication when he returned to the facility. He passed away alone in his room in the middle of the night. It wasn't until 11:30am the next day that one of his 3 roommates notified a counselor that he had not gotten up yet and that they had not heard him snoring. The medical examiner said he had been deceased for at least 6-8 hours already. Not one staff member checked on him! Nobody even questioned where he was in the am. There is zero accountability for anyone at this place. The toxicology report came back with ZERO illegal drugs in his system, just what they prescribed him. He's not the only one this has happened to, read the past reviews. I beg you to not send your loved ones to this place! Animals in shelters get treated better than patients at Arms acres!! read more

I was a out patient I was supposed to be discharged back on November of 2023, I was told I should wait until I was given probation or the court might have me do the program again, it sounded like a good idea so I did, I got probation so I asked to be discharged every time I went in it was always the same thing next time you come in. 3 months later I no longer have insurance now they want me to pay for 3 visits and they want me to come back a few more times before they will discharge me and I have to pay, I have been sober for 1 year I did it on my own (cold turkey) arms acres was useless to me I only needed them to test my urine for court, they wont see a dime from me read more

If you only have NYS insurance,then you have no choice but to regress in customer service satisfaction and perhaps, treatment options? I worked here for awhile, during my time here, I noticed many employees would speak badly about the addicts who were there. The thing that I found to be extremely disturbing is that some of the counselors who work there do drugs themselves (I know this because they would talk about it) and most of the counselors do not even have a degree or any kind of papers permitting them to be counselors, its the same as walking into a store and asking any random person to help you get over your addiction. Most unprofessional facility and very sad that people who need help are not getting the proper treatment here, if you or a loved one are suffering PLEASE seek help somewhere else. read more

This place is ridiculous! My husband took the whole week to get ready to enter this rehab. We have been looking for a good place and we thought this was it. However, as soon as he got there he was seen by a Psychiatrist and told that he was not eligible for admission to enter the program! How the hell does this even happen? When we checked to make sure they took his insurance. As you could tell, ge was livid and cursed everyone out! He had no choice but to come back home. It was not a good sight to see! These people are full of themselves and do not care about their patients. It was such a waste of time! Do you yourself a favor and look for another rehab fact if you want a successful recovery. Staff is very degrading and disrespectful there. They have no consistency in what the daily routine is. They add things one minute and the next they are taking them away. They hang up phone calls automatically while on the phone. Nicky was the most courteous one. Salene is a full blown asshole and had nerve to disrespect me and my partner. She was already with an attitude and called my phone not knowing who it was after i left a voicemail 10 minutes prior. She is a counselor there. They never answer calls and the director is a shitty person to talk to. They do not have any other form for people attending to have leisure unless it is group. One staff member states TV is ok. Next shift comes and takes it away the entire day. One says cards are fine. Next day they are taken away. They barge in rooms screaming at the top of there lungs making it mandatory to go to every group wether it applies or not. They won't give you your meds if you wake up late even if it is a medication you came in with. If your job is to help people help. If you don't like your job and are nasty and miserable to people you should quit. Not treat people like shit because you think you have to right to do so. read more

An in house atm with a 40 dollar limit per week with daily store runs and 1$ 3 min phone calls and 50 cents for each additional minute and let's not forget the change runs every day...Shame on you! This place is a rip off! If you have insurance, you are cured within 6 - 8 weeks but if you have Medicaid, they will keep you there for as long as they can. Every time I asked when I was going to be done, they went to the financial/insurance person and she would not let me go until I went off on them. Two people I met there died. One by suicide because he couldn't take the stress and the other had been there, she "relapsed" and they would not take her back until her Medicaid was approved. She died because of these people. My one on one counselor was a miserable old lady who was CLUELESS as a therapist. She also revealed A LOT more than she was legally allowed to my probation officer which made my life more difficult. While detox is not meant as a vacation, it serves an important purpose for those that want recovery. I found this place to be VERY unorganized and did not provide the scheduled sober discussion meetings as posted. I felt that they only wanted to push meds so they had compliant recovery people with no concern or attention to the input from patients. I had to advocate for myself to get a lower dose of Valium as it was too much and even after talking with the nurse I was still being offered too high of a dose. Thankfully I was successful. There were a few employees worth mentioning who were attentive and listened. Mark, Paula, and a counselor I saw Tory, as well as one counselor who led a meeting. All were serious about their jobs and not just treating patients as a nameless number. I thank those who showed caring and concern however it was a "few and far between" situation. Basically a very poorly run recovery center. Men were allowed to walk the women's halls, masks were not enforced and legitimate requests were basically given lip service. I plan on contacting the state to report the incredibly poorly run facility. It was so bad that there were women who would not go on to the rehab side, fearing the same lack of professionalism. As well it was FILTHY!! So sad when so many need compassionate care in a healthy environment. read more

Tonight I went to bring my loved one a few items and change for the pay phone like I always do. I rang the door buzzer and no one was there except a few patients. The patient had to go tell a staff member someone was at the door, a woman with light brown hair wearing scrubs who worked there saw me waiting at the door said to the patient "and who is this person" in a snotty tone. I had to shout through the glass door and tell her I was dropping some items off for a patient. She literally said "I can't help you with that right now" in a very irritable tone and walked away and left me standing outside. I had to wait for another staff member to walk by and he was very nice and let me in and took my items to pass along to my loved one. I was shocked at how rude and unprofessional the woman was and I let him know. He didn't seem to care. It's hard enough having someone you love struggling with addiction it would be nice if you could at least be treated with respect by the staff during this hard time. It makes me feel like he isn't in good hands and he's being treated by rude, unprofessional and non-caring staff. He always tells me how careless the staff is. I thought he was exaggerating but now I see what he meant. He also told me that they have the thermostat set to 74 degrees heat and he's been getting bloody noses from the overbearing heat and has to sleep in his underwear to be comfortable. Him and other patients asked staff to please lower the heat multiple times and they say "they will get to it when they can" and never do it. It's hard enough being in rehab and the staff has to make things a lot harder and more uncomfortable for patients who are already feeling rotten to begin with. It just blows my mind. Also this place really doesn't do much for your recovery, they simply house you until your insurance runs out then they tell you sorry you have to leave. They collect thousands a day from your insurance company to serve you jail food, disrespect and disregard your feelings when you are uncomfortable, and they do nothing to help you truly recover and avoid relapse. This is basically a glorified homeless shelter/prison. When my boyfriend leaves he is going to a REAL rehab thank goodness. read more

This place is terrible. It's not therapeutic in anyway whatsoever. The food is terrible, all the money these insurance companies are paying and they serve them powered eggs or Dried up waffles everyday, even the ruby kist juice they purchase you can go to dollar tree and buy yourself. The rooms are horrendous, it reminds me of jail except you have a private bathroom. Walls are dirty as well as the floors marked up with coffee spills and trash. I forgot to mention there is no housekeeping on weekends and the food they eat in there room begins to smell on top of body odors. Patients on detox can smoke cigarettes in the shower and there aren't any consequences as well as there is no support with the staff. This morning the whole dat staff watched an overnight worker chase a patient and didn't budge to help. It's sad. It's not clean or up to date everything is outdated. The director of rehab Christina does not like minorities and does not know how to accept feedback. Please don't come here, it's dirty. The clinical director and CEO know what's going on but continue to go on with the program. The way they mandate you here is unprofessional as well, they will let 20 ppl call out and tell you 30 minutes before it's time to go that you are mandated. The turn over rate is high and working here I see why, it makes sense why no one stays or quit while on break and never return. It's terrible they have directors walk in and won't even say good morning and the cameras are to watch the staff as much as they have something negative to say, never anything positive here. Patients will be discharged on the 21st and be right back on the 1st. Also due to COVID there is no recreation besides walking around the campus in the cold, you would think they would improvise & come up with ideas but it's the same thing everyday. Also medication is more important than changing a patient who has been sitting in urine all morning and needs assistance. They take anybody and put employees at risk with COVID. So money hungry they won't test for COVID before you are admitted but once you have symptoms they throw you in isolation until they receive results with a tablet and your cell phone. This rehab is a joke, I mean shelter because this is a medicaid shelter not a rehabilitation. read more
