I can definitely "feel the burn" after slipping down the hillside even when we decided to take the road less traveled. We saw a little family of deer cross our path in the woods as well. Plenty of space for dogs to play, basketball, baseball fields, tennis courts and paved access to the Milwaukee River Trail. There is a dog group that meets there most mornings around 7.00 so if you don't like being bombarded with off leash dogs, steer clear around that time. The river access is awesome and the river can be taken north to Estabrook park, or south to gordon park and all the way to downtown if you connect with the beerline. The rivertrail is almost always empty, any time of day. Great for dog walking. You'll forget you are in the city.

The…read morebaseball diamonds look recently updated, there is a large play area of kids, a pool, and a pond for fishing (stocked with fish!). There is frequently a food truck or two parked on the perimeter. I've visited a couple times and there are a lot of people during nice weather. There is definite need for available restrooms - there are a couple bathrooms, they were just locked (even though the signs said they were open). Luckily, we found 1 port-a-potty at the far edge of a baseball diamond. The pond also needs some love - there is quite a bit of smelly algae, and I imagine the dissolved oxygen levels are low due to high water temperatures, especially during the summer. Not sure how well the fish are doing, and it is HEAVILY fished. However, it was nice to see so many families enjoying the pond and I love seeing parents teach their kids how to fish. As an ecologist, it is sad to see Honey Creek is still confined to the concrete channel that runs through the park. But the ducks and geese seem pretty happy. A solid 3.5ish stars, will be back next time I'm in the area.

That right there gives the place the first 3 stars . ; ) Benches are sturdy and plentiful, really nice bleachers for ball games, lots of acreage for family outings and cookouts and.... I'm almost certain that the actual Golf coarse is about half block East on Drexel. ( just in case I'm wrong on that count, PLEASE Google it!! Same park name buy for GOLF ) Put this on your list of great outdoor experiences and you won't be sorry!!

I live less than a block away from this wonderful park, and as you can imagine, that comes with…read moreloads of perks. The park grounds are maintained really well by the Milwaukee Parks Dept.. I don't think I've seen an overflowing garbage can (except during a concert once in a while) and litter is rarely spotted. The Friends of Humboldt Park plant and maintain a pollinator flower bed, a special bonus in our neighborhood park. My schedule hasn't allowed me to catch any of the Tuesday night concerts yet this season, but I went multiple times last year and enjoyed the variety of acts. The playground is small (compared to South Shore, for example) but in good condition with a nice variety of equipment, some especially nice for smaller kiddoes.

My husband and I were recently scouting great kayak locations and secondarily solid fishing locales…read morefor my dad. Our scouting trip brought us (aptly) to Scout Lake Park. For our purpose (kayaking), it's a no-go. It's has more of a pond vibe (both in size and wildlife) and just really isn't a good spot for kayaking (or paddleboarding for that matter). There are signs that say no boats (not sure if that includes kayaks). All in all, it's just not the best spot for it. There is a platform/dock that extends over the lake that we saw some folks fishing from it while we were there. There are a couple benches for sitting while fishing or you could easily bring your own chairs as well. I read that they stock the lake with fish so could be a nice spot for that. My dad is more into fishing from the banks and the foliage at the banks here makes this not the best spot for that either. That said it is a lovely lake and there's a pretty nice trail that extends around it that would be good for either biking or walking. We walked it while we were there and it doesn't take very long to traverse the entire loop around the lake and the views of the lily pad adorned lake were lovely. One note I'll make is that there was an unfortunate amount of trash in the lake near the doc which was such a bummer. But, beyond that sad note--a great spot for an evening stroll.

During warm months they have picnic tables setup and a public restroom is open. The boardwalk trail is beautiful and it's never too packed up. We enjoy coming here to do our walks.
