I recently attended the Davis Cup matches here and saw some incredible tennis, including Taylor Fritz (World #5) and Jakub Mensik (World #17, and only 20 years old). For example, he said, "Women don't listen" and "You are hitting like a girl." He then went into a metaphor about how he was the lion and we were the lionesses. He talked about how the lionesses go out and hunt and bring the food back to the lion. He kept saying how we needed to listen to the lion. He then stated, and I am quoting his exact words, "The lion can have sex with all of the lionesses, but the lioness can only have sex with one lion." I interrupted him before he could continue, and I was genuinely scared to know what he would have said if I had not interjected. I said "Please stop with the sexual comments. They are making me uncomfortable." He then told me that I do not get to tell him what he can and cannot say during his tennis lessons and that he "didn't make it up about the lions. It is just designed by God that way." I should have walked out of the lesson. Later, he said, "I was going to play this game, but I don't want to offend anyone," while looking directly at me. He told me during a previous lesson that another woman had said that he was touching her too much and that she felt uncomfortable. The way he told the story was very dismissive, as if the woman had overreacted. That should have been a red flag for me not to return. This experience has deterred my friends and me from taking classes with other coaches at this complex. It is concerning that the complex employs coaches like Glenn Muller. I am hesitant to return to the complex because I would be repulsed to run into him again. It is very clear that Glenn Muller should not continue as a tennis instructor, especially for women and young girls. His sexist comments, sexual metaphors, and degrading attitude should not be tolerated.

This review pertains to the Utilities Department located within the Village of Palm Springs (not…read morethe recreational center as Yelp seems to automatically assume). I was looking to relocate from an unincorporated area of Palm Beach County into Palm Springs. Since the apartment I rent is located within city limits, my lease stipulates that water service must be connected and provided by them. In November of 2016 after signing a lease for a 1 bed/1 bath, I headed over to Palm Springs Utilities. When I walked in the door, I immediately sat down with a lady behind the glass counter. As annoyed as she looked, she made a copy of the paperwork I handed her and proceeded to process my application that I had obtained through their website. After sitting there for quite some time, I noticed a bunch of people started gathering inside the office. It was only me and one other person around 2:30 P.M. in the afternoon prior. As I was getting near finishing connecting the water, the place became standing room only. A lot of people that were there had nothing but a variety of issues spanning from reconnecting services to payment problems. Once everything was said and done, I was charged $160.00. My jaw almost dropped to the ground, even though $150.00 of that is refundable upon moving out. Why, may I ask, is it so much money? $10.00 was for water/sewage I never used. After hastily paying the bill, I moved into my apartment. About one month later, I receive a statement from them in the mail. I used 2,000 gallons of water and was charged $42.64. Wow. Considering I work five days a week and live alone, where is all of this water going? Leaky pipes? I'm very careful when it comes to preserving resources. I take quick showers, turn the faucets off while brushing my teeth/shaving, and only flush when it's absolutely necessary. As of late-2017, the city imposed a raise in services. It is now $44.56 for 2,000 gallons. Somebody in their infinite wisdom decided it wasn't enough and tacked on an additional $1.92/month. Not only is the city guilty of ripping people off, but they have outrageous penalties. If you do not pay your bill by 5:00 P.M. on the 8th of every month, they charge you a $15.00 late fee. If a check bounces, it's $25.00. If they have to verify a meter reading, it's $30.00. When service is disconnected, they charge $60.00 for reactivation. And, if the meter has been tampered with that wasn't directly your fault, they assess additional fees. This actually makes me long for the days of when water/sewer was provided through the County. They were relatively cheap and easy to work with if there was a problem. The Village of Palm Springs is a prime example of poor municipality.

Fun and challenging little executive course. 12 par 3's and 6 par 4's coming it at around 3,000…read moreyards. Most of these are on the short side, but almost every hole has an approach over water to a small and undulating green. This course will really give you a chance to dial in your short irons, or you will be losing a lot of balls. The course does have some distance between some of the holes as it meanders through the community so a cart is still the way to go. Some of the carts have little air conditioners built in. That is a first for me, but must be really nice on the hot days. It is pretty loud, but can just be turned on and off in between shots. There are some really nice courses not too far away, but would recommend as a good practice round, or if you don't have much time or are playing with someone that a full course might be too much for. The length would be good for a beginner, but all the water would make it a pretty tough test for them.

I just started playing golf and needed some fundamentals in order to get my swings right. I got…read morethe Groupon for an 1hr swing lesson, sent an email to Bob, he set up an account for me, and I was signed up with Cinchai "Cheech" Chuvichien at The Lakes at El Segundo for a week later. Cheech's station is at the top left of the driving range, and he was all set up and ready to go when I arrived. Because I was new and didn't have my own clubs, he actually got a couple of women's clubs from the clubhouse so I can practice with those. Cheech used the video analysis on my stance, swings, and everything else, and I was able to see how I was lined up vs how I should be lined up, my swing movements, and my club placement. It was an hour but I was still getting so tired at the end from swinging, haha. I had a lot of fun and was able to consistently get a good ball contact and shot over half of my shots, so I was happy. I didn't sign up for any additional lessons because they are way to expensive for me, and I think I just need to keep on practicing and playing on my own and making sure that I'm hitting the ball correctly 90% of the time before I need further and more advanced instructions.

I sent him several messages and he failed to respond. All I got was a sales email back asking if I wanted to sign up for a lesson plan at really high prices (I think about $140 per hour). He was obviously overwhelmed with the Groupons. He should have set a limit. Also I expected some kind of communication back, whether it was a message saying he was busy and to contact him again in a couple of weeks. As I had started my lesson plan I at least expected some kind of preferential treatment over those who had not started yet. Anyhow Groupon refunded me when I explained the issue to them. Lesson wise, he started about 20 minutes late, but we still worked on and did the full hour and probably some more. The tips and pics taken were useful. However I did not like his instruction. I found him very cantankerous and flippant. He asked me questions and when I tried to answer, gave me smart ass responses. I certainly will not be going back again. There are so many other good (and cheaper) choices in the area - especially Zack Allen in Burbank.

They recently reopened after being closed for 8 months of renovation. It's always been in good shape but I've never seen it more well manicured than this. I've got a group of friends that love it so much this is their regular Saturday spot and they couldn't be more excited they are reopened. There are several forced carries where you can't see where the ball is supposed to land. Also, this is a former landfill - when it is wet or there is no wind - it is a bug nightmare. And anything out of bounds is gone because it's either down a steep hill, in thick bushes or in the water. And no water to drink available on a Florida course with zero shade across all 18 holes. Shame is the course and greens are usually in very good shape. Staff are friendly.

After beating up my body playing competitive basketball, I felt like every part of me needed replacement, and it had started to affect my golf swing. But who was I fooling? I love the game, the social aspect of it, and hitting a ball hard when I want to blow off some steam. Recently, I wandered into the PGA Super Store and decided to try out three different brands of clubs. The associate helping me was incredible, so patient and knowledgeable. It turned out he was a retired air traffic controller, which explained his calm and precise approach. What stood out to me was that I wasn't being pressured to buy anything right away. Unlike other golf stores I've been in, there was no rush, no push to get me to make a quick decision. I later learned that the staff at this store aren't on sales commissions, and that made a huge difference. It's a stark contrast to places where employees are incentivized to move product quickly. There's no doubt in my mind that this is the store where I'll be buying my next set of clubs. The associate even suggested I bring in my current clubs for comparison before making my final decision. The store is large and has everything one would need to buy for the game of golf. Also, the value of having a staff that is helpful, courteous is worth the price. Watch out, I'm about to improve my handicap with a new set and probably become much more competitive against those players scoring 80 and below who have been kicking my butt.

Got a pair of FJ men's small because there were no women's socks. Employees at the desk were kind and helpful. Very energetic. They offered me a cup for water but I had my own, and I filled it at the orange Gatorade style cooler just outside of the office. There is a large sign for the bathrooms which leads to a series of port o pottys. No indoor bathrooms. They were indeed not smelly and decently clean. But no sink??? Grabbed a cart and headed to my car to load up. The started must've been on a break but I heard the two guys inside checking in for the same tee time as mine. We paired up on hole 1 and waited for the group ahead of us to clear. The carts are basic- no gps. There is a cooler with no ice. No tees. No towel. Just a Bluetooth speaker. Distances on the card led me to the red tees. The guys played from the white. The course was in pretty good shape. Some areas had bald fairways. But for $35 I really cannot complain. Greens were in great shape and so were the sand traps which unfortunately I found myself in more than once. Nice layout. Lots of nature. Slow pace. In 1:15, I made it to the green on 6, but had to go pick up mom. I excused myself around the groups ahead of us and the guys gave me a credit for $18 (future 9 hole). They yelled at a guy to come help me unload at my car and return the cart for me but I declined. My car was very close. Overall I'd say very enthusiastic and helpful service. Nice course. Range is getting an upgrade and will be ready soon. I will come back if I'm in the area, but I'd hope to go when it's not busy. Playing slow at 2:45pm in August is a sure fire way to get sunburned. And it wasn't the group ahead of us. There was a group ahead of them and ahead of them etc. it's just the way it is sometimes.
