After hiring him 5 weeks ago to replace 2 trees in our front yard we noticed one wasn't looking great while the other was thriving. Upon further inspection, we discovered the tree was dead and not just died dead like dead dead. The whole tree from top to bottom was as dry as a bone several layers into the trunk along with branches snapping off like nothing. I texted him nicely to go over the situation and he immediately started gaslighting me that I killed the tree. Every single time he would ask me about how I did something. I would tell him, then he would come up with another excuse of why I killed it. He then went by the house to check on it and tried to tell me I over saturated it and that's why it died, but that moisture was from us testing and running the bubblers a few hours before he showed up to see if that's what caused the tree to die. I can assure you a tree doesn't die and dry up completely tip to trunk in 5 weeks. Learn from my mistake, hire the other guy!

Told me it would take one day it took 5 days (weather was not an issue). Tore down 2 sides of fence and had a mess everywhere - even in the neighbor's yard (see pic - I was worried that someone would get hurt with the exposed nails.) And left the side open to neighbors for 2 days. Did not haul off all the old posts. Had asked them to use screws (multiple times and was assured they would) when putting the panels back on - they used a nail gun mostly and some of the panels are already falling off (it has been only a couple days). They finished after dark, so I stupidly was unable to inspect a final time. I emailed them and asked them to come back, but they are not responding.

You were fully aware that this estimate was inflated and did not accurately represent the actual cost of roof replacement. You also knew that due to my specific policy, you were not working with the insurance company; this was essentially a cash job. You were also aware that I would be out of pocket above the insurance payment. You chose to take a calculated risk that I would not be prudent enough to obtain multiple estimates. All three additional estimates were $17,000 lower than yours. Had you adopted a different business model, we wouldn't be facing this issue, and you would have earned my business. That was entirely your decision. It was also my decision not to work with a contractor who would knowingly and intentionally attempt to maximize his earnings, if possible, at the expense of the homeowner. I would have been at a significant disadvantage had I proceeded with you. You would have been the sole beneficiary of that working relationship. Additionally, I have documentation that clearly states that you explicitly stated this was your fee. Regarding your "business decision" to cut your losses, you and I both know that's not what transpired. You are not out any money. You were not supposed to pass that fee on to customers in the first place. That is your fee to pay. He offered suggestions and ideas as well. I just wanted simple, low maintenance with rocks, and just enough grass for my dog. Their quote (with a large amount of rocks) was better than a quote with just grass and their sprinkler redo price was almost $1000 cheaper. They also completed the work while it was raining and had leftover grass that they laid in my neighbors yard (aside from the area we fixed bc the pool company destroyed their grass and sprinklers) at no extra charge. My grass never looked terribly patchy, so they must have high standards of what trash will lay and how they lay it. I highly recommend them.

Jared working with me on budget and the scheduling of all the work that needed to get done. Nick was the person that I worked with directly during the whole process. Nick was always prompt as well as very honest when talking through all my options. I used CountryScapes for a new irrigation system, masonry, and landscaping. Roberto did an absolute phenomenal job in the masonry work which was I was most concerned with. My wife was concerned with everything matching the house colors and it did perfectly! They were even able to use the leftover house brick from when our house was built!! They put all new mulch and planted new plants in our front flowerbed which looks great. I also asked them to install new Zoysa sod in front yard due to the challenges that we've had with shade from our big bnb oak trees.
