I had tried to reach other plumbers in the area, but my calls/messages hadn't been returned. John, on the other hand, called back literally within 2 minutes and was at my house the next day at lunchtime. He was able to fix the pipe and stop the water but when it came time to pay he added on a $150 "inconvenience fee" because he had to go into my crawl space. There was no mention of this ahead of time on the phone or when he got here. As a fellow small business owner this is just bad business. Had I known about the fee, I would have used someone else. I feel like I got ripped off and taken advantage of and won't be using him again. I've also already told numerous friends in the area and they won't be using him either.

Xterior Solutions re-roofed my house at the end of July 2020…read more I learned of Xterior Solutions from my next-door neighbor who was impressed and well satisfied with their work. The Xterior Solutions process, from first contact to completion, was professional, knowledgeable and well directed. At the outset, the salesman knew his product and effectively gathered details in his first visit: He looked thoroughly at the roof and took drone photography. Pricing seemed reasonable; timeframe suited my needs. The roofing team - project manager and roofers - were impressive: they knew precisely what they were doing and got it done in little over a day. (The job also included roof insulation, done by another company - in that same 1 1/2 days.) The crew worked quickly, quietly. Clean-up included using a magnetic sweep to gather nails and staples that might have fallen to the ground, along with every bit of trash. My surrounding gardens suffered no damage! It took 2 years to find a good roofer. The previous year I interviewed 3, chose one who was widely known and recommended. Five or 6 times he failed to show on the start dates. This year, I nailed it, choosing Xterior Solutions.

After exploring options from "I got a truck and a…read morecrew" construction quotes, having a roofing company like Xterior bid, plan, design, and complete a complete tear-off and replacement of our roof and gutters was a refreshing, straightforward experience, the kind of experienced, layered, skilled set of professionals from the initial sales call through the roof and gutter replacement and post-work followup. I can not recommend Xterior enough for the job they did on our home.

Additionally, the mulch they used was the lowest quality (like the kind the town provides for free after mulching dead trees) In just over a week the beds were overgrown with weeds and when we contacted them about it they told me they would come back and weed and would charge us for half a day for a crew. They should have put down a pre-emergent and/or weed killer. Additionally, they didn't install any weed fabric around the numerous plants installed. I expressed that we were extremely dissatisfied with the job and would appreciate him coming back to fix it and he told us we would have to pay an hourly rate for a crew to come half a day. I asked him in good faith to fix it for free but he said he wouldn't and was even sarcastic about it. We have used them for other jobs including grading and paving in the past but he was not at all interested in continued business with us or fixing an awful job. It is evident that this owner does not stand behind his work or care about his customers.

This reflects what I observed, what I documented, and what independent professionals later communicated to me. I paid in full upfront for a complete electrical upgrade and new window installation, which I now regret. I expected the project to follow the schedule in our signed contract, but it did not. It has now been over a year. Workers who were present early on became less present over time. The contractor states his crew was on site full‑time, but that did not match what I personally observed or what neighbors reported. Communication became inconsistent, deadlines were missed, and progress slowed significantly. Because of ongoing delays and work that licensed professionals later described as deficient, I ended the contract. The contractor says he was not given time to finish, but my documentation reflects many delays and reassurances over a 10‑month period. Independent inspectors and engineers identified issues with window installation, electrical work, and structural elements. Their written reports suggest that several items require revision to meet safety and code standards. This is particularly important to me, my family, and guests who will be staying there. It was onlly after termination that I received change orders. They were not accompanied by the detailed invoices I had been requesting for months. The contractor has still not provided supporting documentation, and it has been well over a year. In my opinion, and based on conversations with other professionals and their written reports, the amounts listed are extremely high, exaggerated and inconsistent with the work completed. A substantial amount of work remains unfinished or needs revision. I've attached communication and documents related to my experience so others can review the information directly and form their own conclusions. For clarity, the contract ended due to repeated delays, missed contractual deadlines, and work that inspectors and other licensed professionals documented as not meeting code requirements. These findings were especially concerning to me because my family and guests will be staying in the home. The contractor maintains he was not given time to finish. My records show many delays and reassurances throughout the project, and significant work remains incomplete. From my perspective, he was given multiple opportunities to complete the work that had been paid for in full 10 months ago, specifically the electrical upgrade and full window installation. I'm sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions. In my opinion, it's important to research contractors thoroughly, check references, and be cautious with large upfront payments.
