Average sized swimming pool with small baby pool to the side. No flumes or anything like that, just a rectangular pool. The water is always warm and the changing rooms clean. read more

The instructors are great. Easy to follow instructions with variety for different abilities and all very professional, but also fun. Not being instructed by robots! It's a really friendly atmosphere which is the reason I keep going back. And I have tried gyms before and just give up as don't enjoy it. The only reason for 1 star being off is because the pool can be seen from reception and the cafe area which for me is off putting. I'm sure a lot of people won't bother about this, but I'd prefer it to be more private.

I'm sorry, Peak, I'm sorry. Can you forgive me for my last review?…read more So we didn't get off to a great start but that's okay! I paid a second visit in the form of the Cannie Gingers versus the Parma Violents Roller Derby match. (GO, BRIONY, GO!) This time round, I can honestly say that as a sporting venue, it's fabulous for events. The main hall was a really good size, perfect for the various Roller Derby team stalls and the spectators were treated to bleachers, meaning you could get a great view of the action from wherever you were seated. (I really loved this, it made me feel like I was at an All-American game!) The hall's size meant minimal queuing so we really were in in no time! Whilst I can't comment on the ticketing and organisation side of things, as that was all done by Roller Derby, (They did a really good job!) the venue really did feel suited to the day and made for an all-round great experience. I can't say I'm completely enamoured by the Peak just yet since there was a leak just above my spot which meant avoiding the drips during the game! (Eek!) But in all fairness, I do think that it deserves some props for managing to host bigger scale events, similar to those held in larger cities. I may well come and try that ice rink. I'm holding out on you, Peak!

We were in the main hall which has banked seating at one end for a crowd which was good although normally a crowd would sit along the long side of the track rather than the bend. The floor itself is a normal basketball court and was very good for skating on. The changing rooms we used were very clean and fit in about 20 of us while we got ready for the game. The staff made sure to lock the room while we were playing so we didn't have to worry about our valuables which was appreciated. There was a good amount of toilet facilities which meant there weren't any queues at halftime. In the foyer area there's a shop as well as a cafe and a climbing wall which I didn't notice until we were on our way out (clearly I was too focused on the game). The car park was large enough that we got a spot easily and didn't have to wait ages to leave the car park again at the end, and it was easy to get to from Glasgow. All round, an impressive venue.

I always leave with a horrific headache after a couple of hours in an enclosed space with the high pitched squeals of sweaty children having far more fun than is good for them. However, the silver lining to these places is the guaranteed time off resulting from the muckle nap small children will need shortly after visiting. It makes that couple of hours all worthwhile and keeps me coming back and happily handing over money. Bubbles Factory is purpose built and a really good soft play. The cafe area is clean, bright and appealing and the soft play area is well maintained and adored by big and small children alike. On this visit I ordered a coffee and empire biscuit for me and a cheese sandwich for puff. It is worth noting that a wait for food is usual but since everything is freshly prepared and there is plenty to distracted impatient children this hasn't ever been an issue for us, even on really busy rainy days. The coffee isn't brilliant, it's a machine rather than proper espresso and they do loose a star for that - proper good coffee would make me much happier here! But the empire biscuit and the cheese sandwich were very good and since puff went on to sleep for a mammoth 3 hours following our visit I'll be going back.

They were exceptionally friendly, and showed me around, told me about the facilities, and sold themselves very well. They asked me to come back any time, and would not charge me as a guest even though there was supposed to be a fee. Scotland is very good about things like this. Lovely little leisure center. I've only used this leisure centre once, and that was as a guest when I needed a shower. But they have really great facilities, very impressive and modern, not what I was expecting at all. They were also extremely friendly. Their hours are a bit limited hence the 4 stars, but the community loves this centre and rightly so. They also have a kid's play area.

Whitehill Pool is pretty much just that; one big pool and a tiny kids pool where the "deep end" reaches just above my waist. There are no chutes here; no flumes; no frills; no fun! As basic as it is, it serves its purpose if you're simply looking to swim a few lengths, however I'd advise getting in early if you want to avoid dive bombing dafties and lane hogging old ladies.

The biggest issue I have with Whitehill pool is the cleanliness of the changing rooms and also the temperature. I know it's normal for it to be cold when you get out of the swimming pool but this is something else. It is absolutely FREEZING and not only the but the showers are old and unpredictable and go from being BOILING to FREEZING in a matter of seconds. There is also the unmistakable and inexcusable smell of sewage coming up from the drains. The place really needs upgrading. It's a shame really because Whitehill is my nearest swimming pool. Laps is what I like to do the best and it's ideal because there are quiet periods where I can sometimes even have the pool to myself. It's just a shame that the facilities are so poor!
