* Just now I arrived…read more15 minutes late for my appointment at the shooting range and was told it had been canceled. I understand that businesses have policies regarding late arrivals. However, when I asked whether another time slot was available, an employee with a beard and glasses told me that, because of my attitude, he would not offer me one. I found that response unprofessional. Afterward, I spent about 10 minutes looking at the firearms for sale, but no one approached me or offered to help. I was interested in guying one of them, but I eventually left because I could not get assistance. I came in intending to use the range and potentially make a purchase. The way I was treated left me disappointed with the customer service. There are plenty of shooting ranges in Miami where customers are treated with respect. After this experience, I have no desire to return to this one.

He assessed everyone's knowledge and comfort and answered all the questions we had with details, examples and always explained the why's. I had never owned a gun or fire one. I learned how to load, unload, clear 4 different types of malfunctions, but most importantly I learned so much about my gun. I didn't know what to expect during the classroom training, Andy made the 3 hours fly by. In the shooting range, Andy was there with us the entire time. He helped us be confident with our performance and corrected us when it was needed. We are definitely going to go back to visit Andy for additional range training. I joined mainly to use the 500-yard range, but too often it's closed when I have time to shoot. Today, I drove there (half an hour drive from Miami) and was told that my membership had expired on September 1st. I had no reminder, no text or email. I was also informed that the veteran membership has increased from 150 to 200 a year. What frustrated me most was the lack of customer service effort. Considering I've been a member for over two years, and my membership had only recently expired and I had already driven all the way there, I would have expected something like, "Since you're already here, let me check with the manager and see if we can allow you to shoot today." But before you came back, you'll need to renew your membership. Even if the employee didn't have the authority herself, simply asking a manager would have shown some effort to accommodate and retain a long time customer. HTC also offers non-member public range option, but that wasn't mentioned either. Granted, that wouldn't give me access to the members only 500-yard range, but at least offering alternatives would have demonstrated some customer service. Between the unreliable availability of the 500-yard range, the $50 membership increase, no renewal notification, and the lack of any attempt to find a reasonable solution when I arrived, the membership is simply no longer worth it for me. If you're considering joining primarily for the 500-yard range, I'd recommend checking its availability very carefully before paying for a membership.

I am very petite. They even told me I should go to the range first to rent and practice different calibers to be sure before buying. They were willing to to postpone or even lose the sale for my welfare. I was so impressed. I bought a great little Sig Sauer P365. I love shooting it and hope to be back soon to buy something bigger for home protection.

If you're looking to get your gun safety certificate, check this place out. This is preliminary to…read moregetting your conceal carry permit. Jorge the instructor was super friendly and informative. It's located inside a martial arts gym. The class took three hours. When you walk in, you sign and waiver and give him your license. After that, you go into a separate room with a projector on. He goes over the components of a gun, how to hold it, and where to point it (and not to point it). He also goes over some of the laws. Towards the end of the class, he took half of the class upstairs. There were 12 of us on a Saturday. That's where the real fun begins. You have to put on ear muffs and safety glasses; this is where you're able to pull a trigger of a 9mm into a canister. That's the first time I've ever pulled a trigger and it was fun. It's loud of course and you could feel the air coming out of the gun. Super powerful! I think people should be able to defend themselves if need be; especially a female who's walking to her car alone at night! This place is pretty cool, you can get your gun safety permit and learn martial arts. After class, we got our official certificates. There was another guy that came in and was selling gun owner's insurance; purchasing it is optional. Check this place out, you won't regret it.
