It was such a pleasure! In such a vulnerable time when you may not feel entirely like yourself; or how the world can be so loud with "bounce back" culture .... She made me see myself as strong, powerful, resilient! & also soft, beautiful & my children's safest place!!!! If you're ever looking for a doula, birth photographer, or like me a special breastfeeding session she is amazing! She also followed up our session with the detailed email outlining the plan and suggested products so that I could work on what we talked about at home for my postpartum recovery. That said, perhaps I am not far along enough, but did not find anything too challenging. After reading so much about staying active and getting your heart rate up this is better than nothing, but do not come intending to break a sweat. At $33 per class the manager should purchase new pink mats as I was forced to buy toe socks for "sanitary reasons". The mats were full of holes and stained and not cleaned between classes- big turnoff...*especially* for someone concerned with sanitary issues. ... The toe sock requirement should have been mentioned on mindbody (there are a number of opportunities on MB to do so) prior to booking or in the LONG text message I received with directions. I have never worn toe socks to pilates before...but like I said it is not really pilates. Given the lack of prenatal offerings in the area I see why this gets glowing reviews, it is nice to be able to socialize with other mothers. Also I was charged $20 for what is $16 on Amazon. All the classes were great but I especially loved baby massage and Jessica's sleep workshop because it has helped me bond with my children and help them sleep on their own which makes me a better mother, wife, person overall. Sleep is so important for little ones and having the tools I learned in baby massage and the sleep workshop have helped my husband and I get much needed sleep.

I enjoyed being near her. My husband and I just knew she was the one! Take the time to meet her and if she is the one, you may just know it! She spoke very openly to us; very tell-it-how-it-is. She is exactly the strong woman energy I felt I needed near me during birth. I was new to the area and had little resources. She was able to point me in directions I never knew to ask. This is invaluable. She knows the area very well and has the experience as a doula that made me feel comfortable. We were planning a HBAC (home birth after cesarean). My 2 1/2 year old daughter would be there also. It was very important that we found the right person to be support for my husband and daughter also. She was the one. My daughter grew very fond of her leading up to birth. She looked forward to our visits. I could be at ease with my daughter's position during birth with her support. Dawna helped us make our plan possible. Leading up to birth, Dawna was a constant resource. I looked forward to our visits and felt like she was my personal cheerleader. I really needed that! She knew I could do it all along. This was my second birth, and unlike my first one, I felt like everything flowed with all my plans and wishes respected. Everyone there was valuable. Dawna just did exactly what needed to be done while I was in "labor land". She gave me the encouragement I needed and took a load off my husbands shoulders. She brought me drinks with a straw without being asked. She was like an amazing birth angel. Her energy is very calm, strong/confident, go with the flow, and on point! Specially as we navigated first time parenthood. We just had our second baby (natural delivery) and we're lucky to have Dawna again as part of our birth team, including her doula services. I can only describe her as the whole package: unique, invaluable, knowledgeable, dedicated, intuitive, resourceful, multifaceted, gifted, flexible, encouraging, fun and all around indispensable. My husband describes her as "heavy artillery" as in "call in the very best!" Though I have the greatest husband and my phenomenal sister was supporting us, all of us agree the experience would have been significantly different without Dawna. They always check up on you and are so friendly and compassionate. Sandra has been our doula, and she is simply amazing, so helpful, friendly, and trustworthy. We have had absolutely no hesitation to leave our newborn in her care both overnight and during the day since our baby's birth. We got the Elite package, which comes with 104 hours of in person doulas coming to your home (5+ hours during day or 8+ hours night - whatever you need) and 3 postpartum massages with some beauty items. But they have all kinds of packages to choose from, or you can do an hourly rate as well if you want to try it out. This was a lifesavior with us being first-time parents who were clueless about newborns, and it helped us keep our sanity, especially at night time!! We also got loads of in person practice and advice in our home. If you need support, whether before or after birth, I highly recommend the Orchid's nest!

Don't do it without them!…read more I'm luckily enough to have known about the Orchid Nest before getting pregnant so once I was it was so easy to contact them and scheduling was so easy through Karen! She got me put into the classes my partner and I wished to take as well as got me scheduled for an amazing (and very needed) pre natal massage. Lorie taught our hypnobirthing class and though I knew what I was getting into, she was an incredible informative teacher and so patient with ALL of my husbands questions (and let me tell you... he had a lot). As with all of their classes, you leave with an intentional plan as well as the knowledge of alternatives and ALL options which I found really helpful. I did choose to have a doula present for my birth and to be honest, we don't plan on doing it again without her! There are a lot of choices to make before, during and after birth and we can't thank the Orchid Nest enough for their support throughout the journey that changed our lives!
