To level set expectations--this isn't a luxury stay, it's a really solid business hotel. The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable, and there are cozy coworking spaces throughout the property. There's no room service, but you can order food and pick it up. They also have a restaurant, bar, convenience café, and a cute rooftop. It was quiet when I stayed, but I've heard it gets lively. The location is super convenient--close to businesses and the convention center, with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and things to do nearby once you're off the clock. This is my third Arlo stay and I really like the brand. It's officially my go-to when I'm in the city for work. read more

This was my first time staying at an Arlo property, and I absolutely loved the experience from start to finish. From the moment I booked, the hotel was communicative and welcoming before I even arrived. I chose the Midtown location because of its proximity to the Theater District and its strong reviews, and it did not disappoint. The property itself is a chic, modern boutique hotel with a great overall vibe. I appreciated that key card access is required to reach guest floors which adds an extra layer of security. I stayed in a King room without a view. The room was clean, smelled fresh, and while a bit on the smaller side (as expected with boutique hotels), it was perfectly suited for my stay. There's also a coffee shop, restaurant, and bar on site, which makes it convenient if you want to grab something without leaving the property. I liked that they send text updates about what's happening at the hotel and check in to see if you need anything. When I did reach out with questions, they were very responsive. My niece mentioned that we were in New York celebrating my birthday, and the hotel added a few thoughtful touches that I genuinely appreciated. Their customer service is clearly a priority, and it shows throughout the entire experience. Checkout was quick and easy and can be completed right from your mobile phone. There is currently some construction or maintenance happening, but it didn't take away from the overall stay. Overall, I would absolutely stay at this Arlo property again due to the great location, attentive service, and a comfortable boutique experience. read more

I stayed at the Arlo Midtown for my birthday weekend and overall had a very good experience. Rates were reasonable/affordable. The hotel is modern, clean, and has a fresh scent throughout the property. My room had great views, which was definitely a highlight of the stay. The only downside was the responsiveness of the text message assistance -- replies were noticeably slow, especially when I needed quick support. Aside from that, the stay was comfortable and well-maintained. I would consider returning for the location and the views alone. read more

We stayed at Arlo Midtown for four nights and overall had a really good experience. The rooms are clean, well designed, and surprisingly cute for a New York hotel. Ours had big windows which made such a difference, and the location is genuinely great for getting around the city. The front desk team were lovely. I have a bit of a lift phobia and they were incredibly kind about it, always helping me whenever I needed. That level of care really stood out. Late checkout was also a big plus and made the whole stay feel much more relaxed. The only downside for me was the restaurant. It's nicely done, but the menu has a very specific flavour profile, lots of citrus, pickles, sharper flavours, which just isn't my thing. I ended up eating there every day because I was on a work trip and needed something quick, but I didn't really enjoy the food. I asked a couple of times if small swaps were possible, like potatoes instead of sunchokes or a different sauce with the steak, and they weren't able to accommodate. I understand that is not ideal for the kitchen, but with a fairly limited menu it did make things tricky. It meant I was eating food I didn't love, at quite a high price point, multiple times. Room service coffee was also a miss. It was expensive, weak, and served in a paper cup, which felt more like takeaway than in room dining. That said, everything else about the stay was great, and I would absolutely come back. I would just plan to eat elsewhere next time. read more

I had the time of my life at this hotel! I don't typically stay in Midtown for obvious reasons, especially as a former New Yorker (lololol) but this is actually such a great location, sort of tucked away, but still close to everything. And, I had a wonderful experience. My experience literally began the moment I walked through the door. I was greeted very cheerfully by the Arlo team. Specifically, Ken(neth). Ken was such good energy and got me taken care of immediately. Unfortunately, I booked a room through Priceline (I would not recommend doing that - book directly - it was actually cheaper) so there was a mixup with my room when I checked in. However, Ken and the manager (a very sweet Black woman with braids whose name I didn't catch - sorry sis) did their best to accommodate me and work with me. They honestly provided such a great experience and problem solved right there on the spot, which a lot of hotels, even big chains, won't do these days. The check-in process was smooth and easy, and Ken did a fantastic job of explaining all of the hotel amenities to me. In fact, Ken served as a beacon of resourcefulness the entire time I was there, because I found myself asking for good food, options super nearby, as well as other random things (again, not a Midtown girl), and he accommodated every request with a smile. Again, I couldn't have asked for a better guide or check-in experience. My suite: my suite was perfect. It was so incredibly clean, even the very deep bathtub. It smelled great, too, and the fortune cookies were such a cute touch. The room was also surprisingly quiet. Despite the fact that there were many people coming in and out of the elevator in hallway throughout the night, I rarely heard anyone. It was perfect. And that bed? So incredibly comfortable. I also had the opportunity to go to the bar downstairs. That was a wonderful experience as well. I don't remember my bartenders names, but I know that they did their very best to make sure I was satisfied with all of my many drinks that I had over my two days. Rooftop: even though it was very windy and cold, I had to take a look at the rooftop, and I was so glad I did. You have such a beautiful view from up there and there's a gorgeous mural painted. Perfect place for photos. And honestly, a great place to relax and catch your breath after a wild day in the city. I'm normally a Hyatt girl. However, I can honestly tell you that the next time I come to the city, I will look at Arlo differently and will definitely try to stay there. I really enjoyed my experience. I cannot think Ken enough for making it so incredibly wonderful and being so kind, especially on my birthday. read more

I stayed at the Arlo during a work event for about 3 days and it was good. In all interactions with the staff, their service was amazing. Upon arrival, there seemed to be confusion about who was paying for my room, so I needed my team to call them to confirm it was paid for, but during this time, the hostess gave me my room key and allowed me to get settled in:) When going to their restaurant(Altair) their vegetarian dish wasn't my favorite and kinda pricey, but their red-headed hostess was to die for. I loved her lol she was so funny and professional. During my last night, I decided to get a late-night burger with a colleague and the hotel receptionist was super helpful and held all of our bags and coats so we didn't have to drop them off in the room and she chatted with us about a few food spots to try so she was also great. My room was a bit small, but what can you expect in New York lol. The room was cleaned everyday and I had fortune cookies left in the room with such cute notes inside of them! When I opened it, it shattered all over the floor and made a mess(totally my fault), but it was cleaned up by the next morning. My only issue was that you could see straight into my room from their ART Midtown rooftop patio which was awkward lol. Other than that, it was an overall good experience. read more

I wanted to really love this place and even though it was midtown, it felt that it was far from everything. I know that a 10 minute walk to times square is not a lot but after a long day of touristing, that last stretch is simply torture. I stayed here for one night recently and overall it was a solid experience! Although my room was incredibly small, my bed was very comfortable and my room was peaceful. I also love that they have so many elevators (since I've found that so many hotels in NYC do not) making it a quick wait time up or down. I also love that they have a restaurant, bar and little cafe making all of your quick and simple food and beverage needs easy and accessible. They also have room service available. The common areas seem to be cozy, but bustling and busy so not always easy to find a seat. Since I was on the move during this trip, I didn't have much time to explore other parts of the hotel aside from the necessities, but overall was pleased with the offerings. While nothing stood out as exceptional during my stay, I was overall pleased and happy that the Arlo delivered what I needed - a safe and comfortable room to lay my head down at night. read more

This hotel has quite the apathetic front desk staff! The location is midtown - not the dream but convenient for work. The front desk is ambivalent and non-responsive to the most basic of asks for assistance. Possibly the worst front desk I have experienced in weekly travel. The bedding is cheap: low grade linens, duvet and clumpy pillows. The room is small which is standard for NY but this is the first time I haven't had a closet, desk or functional lighting. Highly recommend booking elsewhere if nothing else because the front desk is so unwelcoming. The rooms are sectioned in a way that there is a center on every floor where you can hear noise from the lobby until late at night. Not recommended for light sleepers. I hope mgmt takes time to read. I have visited NYC lots. Arlo is a cute facility. The rooms tho small, were clean.The breakfast food was tasty.The shared spaces were nice.The rooftop bar is quaint yet cramped w/most of your view blocked by a concrete wall. Some Arlo staff were great. As for problems, the website doesn't provide info it should & there's no way to communicate thru the website or your res. except submit an inquiry at "contact us". This goes unread nor answered.Call (get a name - you'll need proof) Online reservation invites u to choose & pay for an upgraded room. Be warned, Arlo ignores this upgrade upon checkin without refund explaining that this depends on availability, not your reservation. (??) we paid $30 a night more for an upper floor with an view , but never received, they never explained upfront & refused to refund the upgrade cost at check out. The website suggests that you park at nearby LAZ parking. The closest walking dist to LAZ is across 7th Ave. They should be clear , esp when asked,that the LAZ parking on 37th is actually accessible from 38th and Arlo has valet service there. (pull up to hotel and have valet park your car for the same price as schlepping to the other ( closer on map ) garage and being charged twice. ) . We had 2 pp in a 2 person rate room. We checked in w/2 and had confirmed 2 immediately after Arlo showed just 1 name in the confirmation. I also wrote in confirming 2 at the 2person room urban king w bkfst rate & confirmed by phone (!) and again at check in that the peloton bikes were available in the fitness center. Meanwhile, I've a single small spinning suitcase & backpack . A porter keeps insisting he " handle it for me " as if I were unable to rest my hand on the handle . Arlo suggested a higher rate now so I had them confirm rates for 2 we're still what I paid. Then they wanted to deny the second person breakfast. (?) After several minutes of confusion amongst those behind the desk, & reviewing reservation, we were told, oh yes, given our vouchers & room key to a standard room. No explanation. And silently charged $25 + tax for second breakfast voucher anyhow. The room was tight as some say but well laid out. The refrigerator was not functioning. And the " upgraded urban view " didn't happen. Ours was an adjacent building and into someone's office and clothing on hangers. The peloton bikes, why we chose to pay more and stay at Arlo, were both inoperable. A kind maintenance worker came down promptly but was ill and sneezing and coughing all over the bikes. mgmt had failed to keep one bike activated, and to fix the stripped seat adjustment on the other making it useless to anyone under 6'10". As compensation, ironically, we were offered free breakfast which we'd already prepaid for ( twice as it would turn out) we were told that the manager would be notified and do something to compensate It never happened. The breakfast service was okay except for the 6 times and four servers we had to ask for cream for our coffee. The bill was confusing even tho we had vouchers There was a $8 service fee , an $8 service gratuity and a another request for a tip on $50, We'd prepaid in advance w/our rateso it was bizarre. We left some tip cash anyway. We checked out of Arlo & were suspiciously not offered a receipt or total. When requested it took over 10 minutes for someone to then find our res. (?!?) and produce a receipt where we'd been overcharged for an extra breakfast, a room upgrade that we'd never received and of course no mgmt compensation or acknowledgement of lack of fitness center amenity we'd booked for and confirmed in advance. We questioned the overcharges.Now they couldn't pull up any confirmation details & itemization, nor written communications etc. 20 min later they were arguing that I had to prove that I'd communicated about the second person, that breakfast was included in my rate, that I booked the upgraded room. I did all of this and then they acknowledged and offered to refund $25 that they had charged double for one breakfast . Only that. The city bike access as never granted and when requested there was confusion as to how to go about granting this. Some employees were great, others had no idea how to answer , help or operate or read their system. Some were friendly, but some just snotty and pretentious. It was a weird unpredictable mix. The subway is not conveniently nearby in relative city terms. Nope. It's a hike. Easier to walk to most Times Square, Central Park lower east and west side locations and high line than use Public transport from here. If you have mobility issues, you'll be paying out the nose for rides to anywhere. And parking as $75 for an suv per night btw. Frankly, the whole experience was a cluster and the hotel staff couldn't care less and seem trained to rationalize and conceal overcharges. read more

I love the Arlo brand! This is the second location I've visited. Every time I visit Manhattan, this is my go to hotel. Great, convenient location to common and main attractions. This time I chose the accessible king terrace room. I had a glimpse of a city view with a very spacious terrace to enjoy the sunset! I was very pleased with my stay. The staff were very hospitable. I wish I had a bigger mini fridge, we could not accommodate large drinking bottles. I also had to call room service for a trash bag. Other than that, I would gladly book again. read more

I visited this hotel at the lowest of the lowest of my life,this day(or so) last year. I had just left my apartment at Hell's Kitchen by 42nd street.I had had it for almost 10 years and I was a wreck emotionally!I was not strong at all! Beautiful hotel,smells very good,so pretty.First time there,I had walked past it for years,never INTO it. Mind you,there were NO rooms available in NYC due to the UN convention, for like two weeks last year 2024(google it),I managed to get this room there for about 3 nights at Arlos for like $350-$400 a night,and to be honest,I was grateful.i was desperate for some peace and quiet.DES-PE-RATE. Because of the scarcity,by my 4th night , it was like $600 a night for a "MAYBE" room if a patron happened to drop dead or nothing(Yes!it was that serious)! I was tempted because i was so sick and i did try to give in BUT NOTHING was available at the Midtown location,not even a broom closet. I think I would have had to go to their SOHO location(or something for $1000 a night )and I just wasn't interested in doing all that,so I just had to have someone pick me up and they would have had to come all the way from Jersey after work later at night,so I had to wait.No biggie.It's NEW YORK! This is where this hotel earned it 2 out of 5 stars. This guy,short haired,glasses,probably mixed race black guy or Afro Hispanic,about 5'11,with a skin condition perhaps vitiligo(LIKE MYSELF),i Only include this as a descriptor because I don't remember his name,could have been Shaun or something.So I will call him Shaun. I was treated so POORLY at the reception area and moved like 5 times because I don't know, The reception area seemed to belonged to a restaurant and they had to make room for those people,so you can spend all that money stay there,but goodluck on daring to lounge at the reception area. Shaun moved me around a few times. Eventually, I had to asked to be moved somewhere i won't be disturbed and not have to interfere with their little nightclub downstairs at the Lobby. So,Shaun moved me downstairs somewhere. It was just me,it was quiet,and I just sat there and listened to a book,wide awake(I would know because I was on Adderall at the time,so I wasn't napping,if anything I was having a lot of trouble with insomnia ) This security manager guy we are calling Shaun( that had been having me do dancing chairs all night) had the god forsaken nerve to approach me and advised me they were closing the area and I had to leave. Hear me out,Not,"hey let me find you somewhere else so you can wait for your ride for the 6th time",JUST LEAVE,because HE was changing shifts at 11 and my ride wasn't coming fast enough FOR HIM. The issue here was, my ride did say he would be there at about 11 and honestly if he showed up at 6am,,it was a favor,I would have been grateful,because THERE WERE NO ROOMS IN NYC AT ALL!and he has a life. I SPARINGLY use the "Race card" but I will today, If I were a White man with a British Accent,in Club Monaco Resort wear,a camera around my neck and Gucci loafers,the treatment would have been 100% different. BUT I am a Black guy, dressed in a cropped sweat shirt,Joggers and CONVERSE all stars sneakers,because I was NOT A TOURIST.I WAS A NEIGHBOR having a bad time. We don't dress like we are getting ready to go to see the fucking Statue of Liberty. I am not Beyonce wealthy but I was New York rich enough to afford a $2750 a month apartment the size of a shoe box,a few blocks from the hotel,and was able to comfortably(but cry later) bite a bullet and throw away my savings at $600 a night,just for a little bit of peace and quiet. They made me SO uncomfortable,I left at immediately and walked around outside for hours till 1;30 or 2am,when my friend finally arrived. Came to the Art rooftop at the Arlo - Midtown for drinks and snacks with friends. We were a large group with folks coming and going, and the host did his best to accommodate. The rooftop was beautiful with great views and good vibes. It was not overly crowded so we had room to spread out. The drinks and snacks were pricey and there was no happy hour. Many of the drinks were weak and mostly ice. The food was tasty and shareable and we liked everything we ordered. Overall, it was a good time and we would go back read more

We stayed here in January 2025 and the hotel is a beautiful hotel and smells amazing. that being said the rooms are very small, thank goodness we got a terrace room because the size of the room was almost not manageable with our suitcases. The room also could be cleaner,example -toothpaste on mirror, shower door dirty floor / carpet dirty and there was poop stains in the toilet when we arrived. We had to wipe the whole room down with sanitizer wipes. The hotel has great potential if the rooms were cleaned more thoroughly. It has a beautiful rooftop with stunning views. I will start with the positives as there are many. Arlo Midtown is a beautiful hotel in a prime location! This hotel is not too far from port authority so it's an ideal choice. The inside is beautifully decorated and smells amazing. Staff is friendly and welcoming. The only downside is that I arrived around 4pm and my room still wasn't ready despite check in being at 3pm. I had to wait till about 4:30pm to get into my room. Although this was slightly annoying we did get complimentary drinks while we waited. The hotel room was nice but needed to be aired out. We did end up with an amazing view! We ate at their restaurant downstairs for breakfast and it wasn't the best. Next time I'd get food from outside. Other than that my stay was great. We stayed at the Arlo Midtown this past weekend and had a phenomenal stay. We booked with Capital One, which earned us a room upgrade and $50 credit, which we used on room service. The room was a city view room on the 26th floor, which is the hotel's top level. We were in a quiet corner and had beautiful downtown views, including the Empire State Building. We were also down the hall from the rooftop access, which looked like it functions as a bar during warmer weather months. The hotel staff were incredibly kind and welcoming and did a lot to help accommodate us, including a late checkout at 2pm. There was randomly a Chips Ahoy promotion going on, so we got free Chips Ahoy when we arrived, which was a nice perk. We ordered room service the first night and it was all delicious. I ordered Hamachi, which was probably one of the most delicious Hamachi dishes I've had. My only complaint is that I wish there was more of it! My husband had their burger, which I stole a bite of, and it was perfectly cooked. They also have a little bodega you can order from, which was super helpful. There's a restaurant that we didn't get a chance to checkout, but judging by what we had through room service, I'm sure it's delicious. The room itself was smaller, but I'd say that's pretty typical of NYC stays in general. It more than met our needs and the bed was super comfortable! The bathroom and shower were great and appeared newly updated. Of note, the hotel was close to major attractions: Times Square was a short walk and many of the Broadway theaters were in very close proximity. We were also close to the Port Authority subway station, which made traveling up and down town very easy and convenient. Overall, I really enjoyed our stay and we'd definitely book again. read more

Beautiful hotel! Nestled into midtown and a great spot that's walking distance from a lot of places, and even the subways. The coffee shop onsite is great and there is a bar and restaurant, that we unfortunately ran out of time to utilize). The gym is so fancy with so much equipment, but another thing we didn't have time to use. The overall atmosphere was relaxing, soothing and clean. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were small, but they worked, especially with storage room under the beds. The water pressure was the best I've had in a hotel, along with the provided shampoo, lotion, etc. I loved the big pump bottles so you didn't have to ask for more during your stay. A few complaints: 1. The bed only had a fitted sheet and down comforter. The AC would cut off when it reached the coolest setting (I think 65), then wouldn't turn back on until it was like 75 in the room, so I'd wake up drenched, then fall asleep then wake up freezing...every night. A lot of people screaming and honking outside the room at night (out on the streets), but it's NY, so the hotel can't help it. Lastly, the rooftop bar was closed. They had nothing about it being closed on the website except it would reopen in spring. End of April is spring to me. We booked the hotel mainly for this rooftop bar. When I emailed for the updated menu (as it had the fall menu listed), I was told it wouldn't open until May 1. Disappointing. Overall, a clean and nice place, but check the rooftop bar operation times (via email since it's not on the website) before booking. read more

This is a review about the rooftop bar. The site says they are open until 12 am, and we arrived to get one drink at 1115 pm on a Saturday. The security let us up to the roof, but when we got up there, we were told the roof was closed due to "weather". It was a gorgeous night out, maybe 70 and not a cloud in the sky. There are now 3 different parties waiting and two parties that have been sat and are having drinks. So we asked to speak to the manager and he kept saying it's the weather, and we kept asking what about the weather? And he wouldn't answer. But they ended up keeping the rooftop open for us and let us get a bottle of wine. The views are beautiful and the service was great from the bartenders. read more

Here are the rough dimensions: Entryway: 6' x 4' - full length mirror and coat hooks on one side, door to the bathroom on the other side. Main room: 7' x 15' - The King sized bed takes up half of that space. The bed is jammed directly against the wall on 3 sides, so it's more like camping than an NYC hotel. In the remaining space there is a bedside table, chair, small coffee table and an open faced closet structure. That leaves effective floor space of about 4' x 4' We barely had enough room to open one suitcase. Once we did, there was nowhere to put our stuff. Btw - the bed was terrible. Zero support with springs that collapsed against the frame the minute you get on it. Basically like a futon mattress. We went to bed ok and woke up with all sorts of aches and pains. On the plus side, the bathroom is pretty good and the hotel itself is nice. The rooftop is definitely worth a stop. I recommend you stay somewhere else and just come here for a drink. Worst 4 star experience I've ever had in any hotel around the globe. Definitely not worth the money. read more

I went to NYC this past weekend and stayed at this hotel. I had a wonderful experience! The staff was so friendly and I love the way the hotel looked. The rooftop bar is beautiful. I must say that drinks at the bars aren't that great. I had higher expectations but my stay was wonderful. They let me check in early, which was amazing. It was clean and they followed all COVID protocols. They even store your bags for free after checkout if your flight is at a later time. read more

Absolutely love my stay at Arlo Midtown. It was the cheapest hotel around but you wouldn't know it based on the staff and ambiance. For starters, the place smells amazing. I don't know what they pump in but it's wonderful. The staff were superbly friendly and professional. Our room was bigger than expected for a Manhattan hotel. They definitely make good use of the space. Bed was comfortable and the shower was nice. There's also a bar and a restaurant on the main level. Overall a great place to crash in between Broadway shows and giant slices of pizza read more
