The owner is really the centerpiece of the place --- friendly, conversant in several languages, and happy to tell how he followed the girl of his dreams to Switzerland 30+ years ago. (The only other staff member we met has an annoying affinity for loud vacuum cleaners). Rolling in post-hike on a Saturday, the owner mentioned he was out of several fillings; in particular, the eggplant-and-peppers Betenjan that grabbed my eye first wasn't available. That turned out to be fine, as the standards he did have were excellent. Our group ended up with a mix of lamb Shish Kebab, veggie Falafel, and simple Hummus. All were heavily laden with extras --- veggies, lettuce, a sweet chutney that nicely complemented the main flavors, and hot sauce to order. The hummus and falafel options are variations on a theme --- either a large scoop of hummus and two falafel balls, or 6+ falafel balls and a small dollop of hummus. The lamb in the shish kebab is in large, tender chunks, and nicely roasted. The bread is much more substantial than many pitas --- more of a crusty roll, but so filled with goodies that the ratios are still right. Drinks are fairly standard --- a few beers and sodas, boxed Ayran yogurt drink, and a giant urn of oddly spiced tea by the glass. Definitely a must-eat for a day around Solothurn.

Each dish was exquisitely done, perfectly prepared, and a nice complement. The paired sauces really made it perfect. The side of hummus was also delicious. The single waiter, Ayman, gave us the menu and recited the appropriate options for all levels of "hungry." We ordered Fatoosh, falafel, kebbe, hummus and grilled halloumi for appetizers and mixed grill (kafka, tawouq and shawarma) for main dish (to share). I think it was called "the trio." Fatoush's was ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. So was the hummus. The falafel and kebbe were better; both are strong on taste. Lastly, the grilled halloumi was excellent. All portions were a bit small though. Good thing we weren't too hungry. As for our main dish, it also came with (yummy) garlic-lemon potatoes, muhammara (nut-paprika) and three sauces. The meats were a little over cooked but very good overall, especially the shawarma which was perhaps the best thing in the restaurant. We were both very satisfied and might come back tomorrow night to try something else!

We ordered the mixed platter, one kibbie, and a small tabouli salad. The Kibbie was so good that we finished before we were able to take a picture...sorry. The Mixed Platter was great. It had chicken, lamb, kofta with a bit of labne, hummus, and a salad of lettuce, tomato and onion. The tabouli was beautiful and it also eaten almost completely before we got a picture. All of the food was some of the best Lebanese food we have had. Service was great. The atmosphere was hopping with lots of locals enjoying their Sunday lunch. No reservations taken. The place is large so if there is a wait it won't take long. Highly recommend.
