I worked at a vet throughout college so…read moream pretty critical of vet clinics and customer service to be honest... but this place exceeds expectations. I will tell you why. It started back in 2001 when my family got our first family dog, a shiba inu. We kenneled him a couple times, and annual visits, but I swear to you, the techs and receptionists remembered my dog every time we were there. I remember dropping him off before a vaca and they all ran up and said "kieffer is back!". this dog was not an angel by any means so maybe they were just being nice lol! Kieffer had a brain tumor and had to be put down unexpectedly and the staff was supportive. Fast forward to 2015, I move back from college to U-City and decide to return to Tri-City animal hospital. Well worth the 40 minute drive!! The staff is all dressed appropriately in branded scrubs (my old vet let the receptionists wear casual clothes and I didn't think it looked professional) Our appt was w/ Dr. King. She was soo friendly and knowledgeable. My questions were answered thoroughly. My dog is blind and can sometimes get scared, she was giving him tickles the entire time and he effing loved it. He was diagnosed (again) with mast cell tumor. The first time at his old vet, I got little info, they just removed it and sent me on my way. Here at tri-city, I got a printed hand-out discussing the disease. She explained the prognosis, complications, etc. They scheduled the surgery asap (despite it being non-life threatening). Dropped him off, got the phone call updating me on his status, got more info when I picked him up. They also have email coupons and specials! As well as advertised rebates and discounts. Most vet offices have the frontline rebates and stuff like that, but just don't make it readily available unless you ask. Judging by the level of professionalism at the clinic, I assumed I would be paying off this surgery forever, but honestly it was very reasonably priced. *****5/5 stars. They decided to take blood through the carotid artery which put him into a major seizure. We heard wrestling and screaming from the back. They come out with no sympathy for the mistake they made and handed us an almost lifeless dog and then proceeded to guilt trip us by saying "I doubt he will make it but you will feel guilty if you don't at least try to take him to the hospital" We get to the hospital and the doctor there said that "THEY MADE A HUGE MISTAKE!! They should NEVER of taken blood through the carotid at this dogs age. I BLAME WESTGATE FOR THE EARLY EXPIRATION OF MY DOG! NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS LOCATION OR THEIR SISTER LOCATION BY 24 HOUR FITNESS ON CLAYTON AND BAXTER!!! After all of this happens we try to call and get some answers from the owner of the clinic to see why they decided to stick a large needle in my elderly dogs neck. We were not permitted to talk with the doctor, instead we were halted by the extremely rude receptionist who insisted on saying they have nothing more to say and when she could tell the sadness and anger in our voice she made it all about herself saying she felt threatened. I mean get some customer service. The owner of this place is a complete moron if he is allowing someone like that to run his place. I am speaking about the older, much less attractive receptionist at the Ballwin location (Not Jessie-she was always super nice) How unfortunate, but I guess its life.... Please take this into your decision on which vet to go to....DO NOT make the same mistake we did.

They're not pushy and don't every force extra tests on you, plus they're reasonable compared to other vets. Westgate offers a clean, friendly, and simple environment. My wife and I have enjoyed 10 dogs over the last 55 years and used vets in 4 different states. But this is the first time we've felt compelled to change vets due to a lack of confidence. We had 4 pets with them (only 2 now) and most times when we've brought our pets in for simple issues like ear infections or allergies, it takes multiple visits and/or processes to resolve their problems and some occasions never resolving the problem. I completely understand that some issues actually do take some follow up action and I've never balked at paying whatever it takes to keeps my pets healthy. But this practice never seems to be able to fix a problem on the first visit and after so many times it gets to feeling as though it's deliberate. Beware of this practice!

After his procedure, Dr. Buehler called, personally to update me post procedure. Despite having a gentle temperament, outside the vet office, he was not at his best behavior during vet appointments. I always appreciated Dr. Buehlers patience with him. Unfortunately, the Sheltie had a congenital heart condition, that recently led to his demise. Dr. Buehler was so kind, and thoughtful, as I was a basket case, during his last days. A few days after the Shelties death, I received a very thoughtful sympathy card, signed by all the office staff, and Dr. Buehler. Recently we got a new rescue dog, and she has her first apt with Dr. Buehler next week, I'm hoping she behaves better than my previous fur baby. You will not regret taking your prized and most treasured pets to Dr. Buehler.

He called colleagues, did research and worked very hard to determine this mystery illness and cured her!! Since then he has been our vet for three more dogs. I think he and his staff are amazing! They always work to fit you in if your dog is sick and we have had to call his service after hours many times over the years. He always calls back within minutes no matter the day or time!
