If you're a true city slicker like me, hold your nose, put on your Hunter wellies and resign yourself to touching something dirty. Eewwww. But the kids will love it.
As you go in, you can buy a little cup of seeds or nuts or something to feed the hens with. Even I enjoy this bit and of course the kids will be so excited to feed actual farm animals. After that you can see all the usual farm animals up close and personal - cows, horses, sheep, pigs and llamas. Yes, llamas, which surprised me the first time we visited.
Lovely extras include the pony rides and the farm shop which sells locally produced eggs and vegetables which somehow taste better than the ones you get in Tesco.
My kids love the pet corner where they can handle the rabbits and lambs and even give the lambs a bottle feed. There is a little board with information about each animal so you and the kids might even learn something while you're there. The other favourite is the duck pond where the kids will stand for ages just watching the ducks swim about.
The adventure play area is excellent and will give you a chance to have a seat while the children blow off some steam. This is a good way to extend your visit as entry for a family of 4 will be about £16, so you will want to get a few hours out of your visit. You can also bring a picnic - just make sure you wash your hands! read more
