I was going to be a new patient so I expected a little bit of a wait to get an appointment, so I was very pleased they had an opening the next day. From the minute I arrived until I left, the staff were helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Check-in was fast and easy. The medical assistant was friendly and efficient. Unfortunately I don't remember her name, please let her how much I appreciate her care. Stephanie Watson was amazing, she eased my concerns and was so gentle to my sore ear. Jacqueline McLeod! Wow! I needed to have a scope done (I hate those things!) She was so gentle and the procedure was quick. Less than 24 hours and I feel much better. I am so impressed with the care I got. They billed my Insurance $1078.26 for a nasal endoscopy that took 90 seconds. Twenty seconds for the spray to numb my nasal passage ten minutes of me sitting there waiting to get numb with nobody in the room and 90 seconds with the thing up my nose for a thousand dollars. Now I have a bill for $218.88. Where the hell is the doctors or anybody's responsibility to let us know that there will be a charge for all of these massive services when we are going through insurance company and think we have good insurance!? Probably the worst medical experience I ever had!! Went for hearing exam.... you will get diagnosed with the need for hearing aids regardless. I tried the devices and found no differenct and not a real need for them. Way overpriced vs. Costco. I made the mistake of paying up front, was qouted $5000 of which my insurance would reimburse half. They billed my insurance double the qoute. After insurance company paid they would not return my half until I threatened with court. They are about peddling product and are clearly not there for medical service. read more

**DO NOT GET TREATMENT HERE, THEY ARE DISHONEST** I received treatment here and prior to scheduling treatment, I was told I would have NO copay or out-of-pocket costs. I questioned them about this quote numerous times because I normally have to pay 20% of all services I receive. I specifically asked who would be picking up the remaining 20% that my insurance doesn't cover and they ASSURED ME I WOULD HAVE NO COST. I went forward with the costly procedure and upon completion of the procedure they informed me that I owed 20%. I spoke with multiple people in billing and upper management and told them I was promised I would have no out-of-pocket costs. They did nothing about the error they made and continue to send me balance-due messages daily. THIS IS BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE. I would not have scheduled the procedure knowing I would have had this high out-of-pocket cost. It was a little bit of a wait, but is understandable because it was very busy! Staff was actually pretty nice, the lady who took me in the back to be seen was very kind and so attentive wish I had a name, but she made me feel so comfortable, the doctor I saw Ryan Chang, was very kind and attentive! Best doctor's office I've ever been in. When you walk in, the receptionist is welcoming, professional, and patient. When they call you back, the medical tech (I forgot her name, but I think she said I could call her Dee), she filled the room with great energy, which kept me calm and relaxed. She explained everything to a T, and even made me aware of potential insurance coverage gaps. When the PA came in, Mr. Chang's demeanor was super professional and calming. I felt very at ease and safe with him. At no time was I even aware that he had the endoscope inside of my head. After my CT scan was done, he brought me over to the screen and showed me the details and discussed the issues at length. Because my diagnosis atypical, Dr Charous came in and did a quick examination and concurred with Mr. Chang. One full day after my visit, and after starting the treatment prescribed by Mr. Chang, I'm already feeling better. If I ever have to see an ENT after this heals, I know where I will be going. This was worth the drive for sure! Trying to figure out why Yelp has such a bad rating when Google and other sites have 4+ stars (with many more reviews) for this doctor. If you read most of the reviews below, you'll see that they're mostly regarding the patient's insurance company issues, not the doctor. One review has no idea how the 5 star rating system works (said nice things but gave one star), a few are just people who only leave negative reviews. I've visited this ENT location a couple of times. However, they just went into their own private entity and separated from IMS. I like their new name, Arizona Desert. The front staff is always friendly. The nursing staff as well. I am glad that my Doctor is still with the practice. Sometimes when a practice goes private or separates from a major medical group, the Physicians tend go to and start their own practice or to a different partnership. So I was happy to see he was still here. Dr. Daniel Charous. He was very patient , very good listener, as well as understanding that I needed further testing. I can definitely appreciate a Doctor and his staff that goes out of their way to understand and listen to their patients and make them more at ease. It is already hard enough to walk into a new Physicians office worried about the reason you are there to begin with. read more

Desert ENT Stephanie Watson in Aug 2024 she stated my insurance would cover a 3000 Phonak hearing aid. In Oct the aid stopped working so it was brought in to be cleaned. I got a VM from Ms. Watson stating it was dirty they cleaned it and it was ready to be picked up. I tried calling to get it but never could get a hold of anyone. We came in and we were told they could not find it that the audiologist knows where it is at. Finally in January I went in to see Dr. Ching (another story) and Ms. Watson comes in to say they sent it back. I never gave anyone permission to do so. I have been back and forth with Desert ENT. Had 3 ways with BCBS, you name it. Desert ENT agreed to reverse the claim to BCBS and refund my $60 copay and that to this day has not happened. I still have yet to hear from billing after leaving messages. I am in contact with ASHA, BBB and the medical board now. No accountability whatsoever. I am still without a hearing aid because the allowance has not been credited back to my insurance. read more

My Husband has Vestibular Neuropathy & has had a very hard time finding an ENT Dr that could treat his Sinus & Ears so he doesn't have an episode. He has hearing loss from all of his sinus issues. Every single time he comes in to this office even if it's a follow up They immediately want to do a hearing test! He can't just see the Dr or the PA for a 10 day follow up on a sinus infection. It's all about MONEY. So the audiologist can bill Medicare & blue cross for their share. It's very frustrating. If he refuses to see the Audiologist that he just saw a week ago. It's a huge problem for them. He finally just walked out of the office on his last visit without further treatment for a Sinus infection. He called back to discuss his issue with their procedures with the Manager & they never returned his call. Very bad customer service & care! This is at the Biltmore office. read more

Then they never returned calls about the bill to confirm why this was done or to have it corrected. Ended up paying the 2nd copay to avoid collections. I waited 2 hours before seeing the doctor. One hour in the waiting room and another hour back in the examination room. Once the doctor finally came in I felt rushed. I went in for nose bleeds and swollen lymph nodes. I was told not to rub my nose and the lymph nodes are not swollen now must have been agitated and come back for allergy testing. Yeah, not going back, this place is a joke. I didn't get any answer on why I am having these issues constantly. read more

9:30am appointment, arrived at 8:45am to fill out paperwork and I wasn't called until 10am, after I asked when I was going to be called. Takes EVERYONE 25 minutes to fill out paperwork. I was placed in a room, only to be asked why I was there for. It was a referral, don't they need to have my paperwork ready? Waited another 25 minutes and still NO ONE showed up. $150 dollar visit WITH INSURANCE. I really needed this appointment and received no apologies from ANYONE!! I was sent to this specialist for swollen lymph nodes . They did some test on my sinus that cost me extra 200 and didn't tell me wasn't covered in my copay . I didn't need this test, I already know I have a deviated septum. Doc saw me after test, to tell me and I was like I know I've seen a specialist already for that, I'm here for my swollen lymph nodes . I could have sent him the imaging from other specialist on my deviated septum. Then I would have had the money to do some allergy testing instead which I did want and need. read more

Dr. Charous is very well versed in his field, up to date in new procedures and detailed in his analysis of your needs. His medical background is first class. Even in these pandemic times, he and his staff are professional, caring and have the best interests of you, as their patient, at heart. Our experiences with the medical staff were very good. The doctor and PAs were nice and they explained the procedures in detail. Working with the office staff, however, was not as great. Rude! Rude! Rude! Performed tests without any explanation. I was asked to step out of the exam rooms numerous times just to have me sit in the waiting room. Also, I was approached by numerous people without any introduction and after 3 1/2 hours a female came in the room and asked me "If I wanted to purchase the equipment or not" I had no Idea what was going on or what equipment she was referring to. I called and asked the cost of ear wax removal when paying cash as I have no insurance since Covid began. I was told $65. Arrived for my appointment, office staff was very friendly, I paid the $65 as I was told on the phone and a few mins later was seen by PAC Ryan who was fantastic! Long story short, Ryan took care of me sent me out with an Rx and a follow-up in 2 weeks. I stoped by the desk on the way out and was told I was good to go. Upon, my follow-up, again, the staff and Ryan were great, however upon leaving I was told I had $150 due. Said the "forgot" to charge me an earlier fee. I paid the $150. Three months later... I get an invoice for another $300 for the original visit(?). Not only that, but it says the amount is "extremely overdue and subject to collections", marked at 91-120 Days overdue. Again, this is the first communication from them at all since my second appointment, my having no idea I owed anything at all. Over a 3 day period, I left 3 messages for Billing, who are unreachable on their listed ph #, which gives a Verizon out of service message. I ended up talking to the front desk who stated the phones for "Billing" appeared to be down. He proceeded to explain that the $65 I was quoted was just for earwax removal. Not the consult, the need to write the Rx, etc... In the end, the quotes $65 earwax removal cost me $525 and has me more than a little concerned with billing practice when indicating I was 90+ days overdue on an invoice I was never notified about. If you have insurance coverage, I would recommend. If not, do your due diligence or look elsewhere for an office with honest up front pricing. read more

Started off rocky but ended great! We were referred to AZ Desert ENT to get my 10 year old's tonsils, adenoids, and turbinates removed. During the consultation, the nurse mentioned that the the surgery will hurt, really bad. This scared the crap out of my son. After saying all of that, she wanted to get a look in his nasal passage with the long camera thing. Once again, this scared the crap out of my baby. He wanted out of there. I had to put him out of the room so her and I could have adult talk. I just wish she didn't elaborate on the pain in front of my child. After the consultation, they put us in a conference room to meet the doctor. Apparently, he was in an important call so we never actually got to meet him, I was told he will call us. We never received a call; however, after reading all the literature and pamphlets; we decided the surgery is what is best for our son's wellbeing. Dr. Charous is highly rated and recommended so we scheduled the surgery a week later. I met Dr. Charous about an hour before the surgery and he was very kind to us. He even put my son at ease. I just wish I met the doctor before the day of the surgery; then I would have been a little less anxious. read more

The provider is good, but the office staff is the most difficult staff I've ever had to deal with. While the front desk staff is nice, there are some major issues with the way they do business. First, they charge up front which wouldn't be a problem if what they charged was accurate. Second, they will not respond to callback requests, pharmacy requests, or requests from other providers to sign forms for medical equipment. I needed a cpap machine and it took at least a week of calling over and over again to get them to simply sign a form (that they had received multiple times) and fax it back. My pharmacy has called and faxed THREE TIMES for prescription refill requests and received nothing back. I'm just going to cut my losses and find another doctor for this refill. Third, their billing manager is so rude. Never admits or apologizes when she makes a mistake. My insurance was misbilled and she blamed me for not calling it in earlier even though I had changed it with the front desk when I visited for an appointment. When I pointed out that I didn't appreciate her tone, she hung up on me. Fourth, if they tell you that they'll call back or that they're going to submit a referral for you, you MUST call and check up on it yourself because they probably won't follow through with what they promised. All of these reasons are why it took at least 3 months to get the testing and medical equipment that I needed. MY VETERINARIAN IS MORE RELIABLE. I've never had this issue with other offices, so I plan on finding a new provider and never going back. read more

I had a septoplasty & turbinate reduction performed by Dr Charous two weeks ago. Everything is going well and I am happy with the surgery. I have been to their office for several appointments pre & post op. Sometimes I have to wait, sometimes I get right in. I understand the frustration of some reviewers on wait time. If your main concern is having confidence in your Dr & their support staff though I can recommend their office with high praise. I have seen Dr Charous & Mercedes Morris for appointments and felt listened too and respected. I am especially appreciative of Amy ( I believe she is a nurse) I usually see her prior to the Dr and she answers all my questions, helps me to relax, is extremely caring and easy to talk to. She has really been a godsend throughout my journey. So yes, you may have to wait at times for your appointment, but in my opinion they are worth the wait. read more
