We were shuttled here from the wedding hotel. The building is cool because it's historic - built in 1936. However, repurposed into an event venue, the interior spaces feel a bit more generic and industrial (typical). The spaces were decorated beautifully for this event. Cocktail hour took place in the Lobby and adjacent Mercer room. There were two bars - one in the Lobby and one in Mercer - and hors d'oeuvres. I don't know how many guests there were, but it was crowded and tight, especially in the Lobby. Dinner (self-serve buffets), dancing, and dessert took place in the Packard room. Again, pretty standard space repurposed for events. Decor, sound, lighting, food, and drink (more bars) were all great. There was even a liquid nitrogen ice cream station. To cool off during the reception (dancing), we went outside to the adjacent Cadillac Courtyard. Restrooms are located in the basement. They were spacious, clean, and even stylish.

The Bureau Chicago is very unassuming from the outside, you have to see it to believe it. It is truly a gem of a venue. It is a clean and friendly establishment and provides decent food as well. Their menu was presented and the popular items were pointed out by our server. Our table was given complientary french bagette to chase our meal. The portions were decent and leaned toward the larger side of the pole and the taste was good. I had the clams with pasta in a lemon butter sauce. Yup! delicious. We asked what the protocol was with respect to the tab and the splitting of it and was pleased to learn and see our waiter make each of us a separate bill. (note- unusual for many establishments so we were lucky) Great way to end our journey! Hana Hou

I got the Orecchiette for my meal. It was a decent portion. There was a lot of variety and plenty of ingredients, so it didn't feel like just pasta. I couldn't finish it all, but for the price, the quality was comparable. I felt like the sauce was a bit runny, and some parts could've used more seasoning. Everyone else ordered a variety of dishes and seemed to enjoy it. If you're in the South Loop area and want Italian food, Il Culaccino is a good option. The second floor space was an incredible bonus. The bridal suite was big and made getting ready so comfortable, and the extra huge open space gave our families room to hang out before the ceremony as well as a space to take photos. I literally want to breathe in the building so I can take in every ounce of genius of Mr. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (Architect of Building). The architectural element is unbelievable. The structural beams are on the outside of the building, freeing up the interior space with an open plan. But to diminish the look of the structure, it was painted black where it disappears as the envelop of the building rather than standing out. The floating steps was a great touch to the building where the whole architecture looks lightweight and airy; especially with the curtain walls, you can literally see through the building. Once you're inside, the openness of the plan and the transparent windows allow you to take in the surrounding environment, bringing in the exterior into the interior space, creating an infinite space. This is exactly why this building is one of the prime example of a architectural movement in the modern era. Many buildings now-a-days take so much merits to this building. It's a fabu-licious!
