Excellent Ethiopian downstairs in the middle of the Arcade (a bit hard to find) but worth the adventure. The Enjira, a fermented flatbread, (try to imagine a crepe with the tangy flavor of sourdough) is absolutely fantastic here. I think its the best Enjira I have ever eaten.
Our table had both meat and vegetarian combinations. Of all the 6 dishes I tried here, three of them were the best versions I've ever tasted. The Tikel Gomen (cabbage) was wonderfully crispy and flavorful and had a nice texture contrast with the spongy Enjira. The Misar Wat (stewed lentils) offered a mild spicey, yet sweet flavor, and the Doro Wat (chicken stew) was wonderfully buttery and fragrant.
I prefer the Kik Alicha (stewed yellow split peas) at Yeshi Buna down the street, and while the Shiro (a chickpea flour gravy) was wonderful, I've had better at a wonderful Eritrean restaurant in Los Angeles. That said, considering the quality of all the dishes as a whole, especially given the quite affordable prices, I think Arhibu is the best Ethiopian food I've had, and definitely the best I've tried in Brisbane. read more
