Location wise, it's absolutely cracking for shopping and city centre venturing.
Within easy walking distance of the St Enoch Centre and Argyle Street (duh!) and about 5 minutes away from Buchanan Street and George Square, if you're coming in on the low level from the East side, it's a good call to get off here rather than Central.
The problems are, it's a very isolated platform, underneath the street and far from the ticket office. If it's late at night, it's perhaps not the first place a lone traveller should venture too. I've never really felt unsafe there, but uncomfortable? Yes.
It always feels a bit dirty too. It is cleaned, I've seen staff hard at work, but it just has a general feel of mankiness about it.
Thankfully, services in both directions are frequent, fast and plentiful so you should never be here for too long. Advance warning too: if Celtic are playing at home, before and right after the game, this station WILL be absolutely jumping. read more
