No one was at the door, but all of the bartenders and others at the bar looked at me standing with my ID and money, but no one would say anything to me. I smiled, put my money and ID away and walked into the karaoke room. Not a minute later, a guy who said he was owner came up to me and told me that I need to be drinking if I was going to be in there. ( No hello, no welcome to the club or anything). I told him that I just came in to enjoy and participate in the karaoke. and that I was not a drinker. (I never have been into drinking, especially every since I have been on alchohol and sugar restrictions because of my diabetes diagnosis). He said I would need to buy a coke then or I had to leave.. I nicely told him that this was unreallistic and that I would post a review. His response was "Go right ahead ". They really made me feel unwelcomed.

Not friendly not rude just not very welcoming. I got a muted and obviously painful hello. I live in NYC and frankly this took me a back. NYC bartenders are friendly! They know how to make their money and or they're just nice and enjoy their work. I had my beer and left. No "Thank you" for the $5 tip for a beer. No "good night" No anything! I will definitely not return. Just another bar that will see itself disappear into the dust bin of another poorly run business. Too bad, the location is central. Decor is colorful and fun with gender neutral restrooms and free condoms galore! Loving the cocktail menu with very affordable prices. Fun drinks are waiting for you while you dance with yourself in the mirror! Who doesn't love the sound of that?! I love the staff, the bartender/co-owner makes you feel welcomed and goes above to ask what you think of the space and how he can improve during this reopening. There's plenty of bar seating and a few tables. They also have a coin operated billiards table. There is a side room that is used for Drag shows and other events. The crowd was packed and everyone seemed to be in good spirits. A few people had on costumes, so I'll definitely come dressed next year. But this is part of the charm of the older buildings in Mainstrausse - businesses downstairs and living quarters upstairs. I love this cozy nook of a bar! Expect a crowd, but you will find sufficient bar staff to provide timely service and answer any questions or help you make a selection. Parking is horrendous, and if someone in your party has mobility issues you will probably need to drop them off in front while you seek a place to put the car. But worth the trouble!
