First time customer. I appreciated the hospitality I received here while waiting (coffee/cakes) - however, my masseuse was over 45 minutes late. All in all it was an uncomfortable experience for me as my first-ever Spa day. I had an 11AM appointment. First, the masseuse was on her way and going to arrive soon, then, 11:30. By 11:50 I decided to ask the receptionist about her tardiness. There was a lot of back and forth between the masseuse and receptionist. I didn't want to be massaged by someone so frantic sounding. I left. My services would have totaled 250$+ so I cannot imagine how they treat regulars and more expensive patrons. I would give it another try but it did not make me feel good. Today I showed up for my confirmed appointment to have the owner tell me they've been trying to reach me to reschedule. I've had them call me in the past to reschedule- however this time nobody had called me- it's easy to see on my cell phone if there were any missed calls, messages etc. Lying to my face is a horrible way to treat a customer- especially one that has been a regular for months. thankfully there are plenty of good options in the area to take my business- I would recommend others do the same. read more

Went in for manicure and pedicure. Called the place prior to making an appointment to confirm prices for both services and specifically asked for gel polish for both. They told me $40 for gel manicure, $5-$10 for designs, and $55 for gel pedicure. When I was getting the services done, they said that gel polish would be $20 for pedicure which is more expensive than any salon I have ever been to. I was charged $40 for regular polish as they claim "gel takes too long to do" and then charged $2 for each French tip design ($20 additional) when I was told designs would be $5-$10 in total. In the end, I paid $60 for the manicure with regular polish when I should've received gel for that price. Additionally, the polish chipped the day of getting the service done and was not applied professionally. There were missing areas of polish on the edges and the lines for the design were very messy. For the manicure, Cyndi didn't even remove and push back the cuticles. She just went straight into soak, file, and nail polish application which was very rushed. For the pedicure, no leg massage was even done and only filed the heel of the foot, missing the scrubbing on the top and side of the feet. Despite this, in total, the service took about 3 hours which is longer than I have ever spent at a salon for the same services. Was very disappointed after leaving and felt ripped off. Never have I paid $115 for regular polish and uneven application at any salon before. Be aware of charges before paying and confirm prices many times even after making an appointment. read more

Olga -- I was charged for my massages that day, just not the facials. I still paid for services. Just to correct your reply. Unfortunately we did not have a pleasant experience here at all. There were scheduling issues that caused us to lose out on 40 mins of our 60 minute services, but mistakes happen. My issue is more with the bigger picture - this did not feel like a relaxing day spa at all. It was a very busy, loud, clustered and crowded hair and nail salon that had a couple rooms for spa services. There were pedi chairs and supply carts in every spare inch of the building. During my 60 minute massage all I could hear were people yelling to each other in the hair section and full conversations by all the hair and nail clients. The massage itself was ok. The awkward set up resulted in me walking through a crowded hair salon in a spa robe while everyone stared at me to get from my facial to my massage. The facial was cut short but the esthetician was very unpleasant and made the experience very awkward regardless. She had on loose gloves that crackled and rattled the entire time which was distracting and not relaxing and the facial service was subpar. Not to mention she seemed to take it out on us regarding the scheduling conflict. I will not return here as I do not consider this a day spa for what I look for in a day of relaxation or pampering. read more

I can not believe I have to leave this review, but you'll understand why. To preface I called and spoke with Olga to express concerns and that was not handled well...more to come on that. I just recently scheduled a prenatal massage. When I got there had I not brought up being pregnant to the massage therapist she would have never known (20 weeks). Her response "oh this is a prenatal?", claiming she didn't have that on her schedule (Olga later confirmed to me she did). She claimed that she didn't have any of the proper bolsters to make me comfortable. I was very uncomfortable intermittently throughout. The bolster she used between my legs had a hard plastic on the end which I later noticed scratches on my leg. She was going to have me lie on my back with no wedge to which I said I don't think I should be lying flat...I then pointed out something in the room that could be used, she placed me on it with no pillow support and then I have to problem solve with her how to make myself comfortable and provide my head support...not ok. So I called and spoke with Olga just letting her know the therapist said she didn't know it was a prenatal and that she didn't have the proper tools and that this was a concern to me and wanted her to be aware. Her response after telling me this therapist did in fact have it as a prenatal on her schedule (so complete negligence) was that they have two other massage therapists who are amazing prenatal therapists and this was her first one there (why wasn't I with them) and that they have all the right tools...She then proceeded to tell me if I wanted to schedule something with them to mention this incident and I would get 10% off! TEN PERCENT! Insult to injury! No sorry for this situation yada yada. I wanted to argue about it but at that point I figured if that is seriously how you approach a HUGE oversight with your salon and a very uncomfortable service for your client then no thanks. Unfortunately this was a giftcard...maybe that is also why she handled it this way. If I had charged this it would have been disputed ASAP. Hate to hate on a small business but not cool. read more

I've been to Aretee Spa 3 times, and I have enjoyed each experience at this spa. I first learned about this spa from the Groupon website, about two years ago. I purchased a deal for a 60 minute facial for $35.00, which I felt was a great price. There is limited parking by the spa, but I have always managed to find somewhere to park. The spa is nice, smaller and quaint compared to other spas that I have been to. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Each time I've been there, I received the 60 minute facial. The lady that does my facials, her name is Shanna. She is a very energetic, funny, and a nice young lady. So I enjoy my time there, and she makes the experience very relaxing. I would refer this spa to anyone that is close in the area. There are always deals on Groupon. And although they only allow you to use a Groupon deal once, I do believe that the prices are not over the top, so the services are affordable with regular price. read more

Assisted and attended my friend's bachelorette spa party here. While they can cater, you have the option of bringing your own food and drinks. The bride's sister handled all the communication, and the owner was a peach while we put out snack trays, wine, and decorations. They have a great space to setup in the back, with refrigerator. They provided all the dishware (really pretty!) and wine glasses. Teas, cold water and biscuits were provided by the spa. There were bar stools, as well as a cozy couch to sit and relax with the bride and her friends in between spa services. And speaking of which, the mini-services were luxurious. We did the 15 min minis at $20 each: facial, massage, man and pedicure. My favorite was the massage, but each service was worth every penny. The interior was beautiful and peaceful. We lucked out with the addition of holiday decorations :) If you are thinking about hosting an event for important ladies in your life, I would definitely recommend Aretee. read more

This review is for a spa party. Great customer service, reasonable prices, and excellent results. Would highly recommend as long as you're not pressed for time. As maid of honor, part of my bachelorette plan was to have a relaxing spa experience. The ladies at Aretee were great to work with. Two months prior, I booked our date and was given a planner, where each guest can choose various durations of massage, facial, manicure, and/or pedicure. Aretee also made sure to provide wine glasses, plates, flatware, etc -- real stuff too, not plastic -- for the snacks and cocktails we'd bring. I filled out the planner and was told to call back a week before to make sure we were on track. No deposits required, which was nice. On the day of, everything went very nicely except they were one tech short-staffed. They had notified me earlier and tried to fins a replacement but with no luck. After three hours, the other six ladies had had all their services done, but I had chosen to skip mine so we wouldn't miss our dinner reservation. I was so pleased with how happy everyone else was, that I didn't mind too much. read more

I found a great deal on Groupon, and I am so glad I did! The place had a wonderful, professional, and calming atmosphere. The front receptionist was such an Angel. I didn't realize there was only street parking and she spared me a couple quarters so I didn't have to run to a CVS for some cash/change. That was so very kind of her, and unnecessary. But I was so grateful! My experience with the woman who did my facial whos name is Shana was more than fulfilling. She was very friendly and very informative. I told her my skin type and she listened to what I like and disliked. Very good attention to detail if you ask me, and caters to your needs :) I'm 7 months pregnant and due in less than 47 days! I was NOT happy at all with my facial. First of all, the clothes that Constance used to wash my face smelled as they weren't fresh. Second, she didn't check the temperature of the wax before applying on my upper lip, and it was super hot, actually burnt my skin. The facial she performed on me was second-rate. I was hoping she would cleanse my pores, but all she did was extraction of a few pores here and there, she did not even touch on my most clogged area, the nose. Most of the time I was there, I laid with some mask on. I don't know if she was distracted or just had a bad day. I wish I could give her the benefit of the doubt, but then, I also wish I hadn't waisted my time this morning and had a facial that I really needed. I would not recommend. read more

The reception told me about the "day of beauty" package so my husband bought me the gift card for Christmas. Daniel did my facial and massage both in the same room and it was amazing !!! Then I took a break and had lunch they provided followed by a manicure and pedicure with Julia. The environment is super relaxing and everyone is really nice. Nestled in the lush Grosse Pointes, this spa looks beautiful and once inside seems like a tranquil paradise. After relocating from East Lansing, I decided to find a new wax spa closer to home. My experience was horrific, unprofessional and belittling. While I cannot speak for their spa, hair/nail, or massage services, I can assure you you do NOT want wax services from here. 1. I waited 10 minutes to make an initial appointment. Upon entering the spa, there was no one at the reception desk, I decided to take a brochure from the front table and write my request on there with my phone number. As I was walking out, the receptionist finally came out and attended to me. 2. I booked an appointment for a Brazilian Wax, now I'm no novice to this procedure and I have a very high pain tolerance, but this experience was the most unbearable and unprofessional service I have ever experienced. I should preface this by saying I've had 10+ wax appointments in Lansing, they took no more than 35-40 minutes and the staff was a lot more personable and kind. But, it's been 72 hours since my wax appointment and I'm still in unbearable pain. Why? Well, here's the gist: (a) First, the woman didn't even TRY to make small talk or assuage the obvious tension of it being my first visit. I'm sure she's inexperienced and does not know how to be personable. She repeatedly, awkwardly, profusely used the word: "labia" and "growth" so much it made me cringe. (I have nothing against those terms, I'd just rather talk about the Lions or the holidays or the weather...something...!!) (b) She made me "assist" her in my waxing, which I NEVER had to do before in Lansing. She became frustrated when I didn't know how to properly assist in HER job. (c) She used hard wax on my sensitive spots, which is not recommended and my previous spa consultant never did. (Soft wax exists for a reason). Furthermore, her technique was OFF. She removed the wax agonizingly slow, waited too long for it to dry, blamed me for waiting beyond the 4-6 week span and kept implying how difficult I was to treat. (d) The service took 1.5 hours....WHAT??! I'd much rather trek back to my previous stylist who has more experience and genuine care for her craft than deal with the shitty service I received here. Back in April the ladies from the hospital I work at down the street from Aretee decided to surprise one of our co-workers who was getting married with a trip to this spa. We called ahead of course and booked the spa and all of the things we wanted done. While there, they told us that only 8 people were actually needed to shut down the spa for a private party. Good to know. They let us bring our own food and alcohol, and were incredibly accommodating. All of the staff that I interacted with were very nice. They have spa samplers where you get mini versions of all the good stuff for $15 each (each sampler is 15 minutes long). I got a mini facial, mini pedicure, and mini massage. Some of the other ladies got manicures or had their eyebrows done. There were many things you could do. Stephanie did such a good job with my mini facial that I left feeling completely refreshed and everyone commented on how nice my skin looked. Some said I was glowing, which was nice to hear. My skin looked really good. I got a mini pedicure from Ashley Van which was nice and relaxing with the massage chair. The massage I got later from Jennifer was very nice. All in all, we all had a wonderful time, and the bride to be was as relaxed as I've ever seen her. I'll definitely visit again next time I'm in town. read more

I have been to multiple massage therapists and there is no one that compares to Bernadette, the massage therapist, at Artee spa. She is the best! Her technique cannot be replicated and I always come out of every single one of her massages feeling amazing. They are reasonably priced and from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave you're completely relaxed. I love the environment. This place claims to be an upscale salon. There prices reflect that but my experience didn't. The stylist did not listen to what I wanted and made a huge mistake. She said her hand slipped while cutting my bangs. She chopped off six inches accidentally? She proceeded to apologize. But you can't put hair back! Went in for full head hi- lights and what I got was a few sparsely painted on hi-lights no foil involved. She totally ruined my hair. I had to go to another salon just to fix the bad haircut that was uneven and not hi- lighted at all. Wish there was a negative star because that's what I'd give them. There prices are sky high and its not even a clean place. Thank god I didn't let them do anything else. She even pulled out some Suave dry shampoo spray after she put to much morracan oil in my hair leaving it limp and greasy looking. I was appalled. For a salon that claims to be a Aveda salon to whip out some Suave products was the last straw. The serve warm lemon water in the lobby, no ice in sight. They were not overly friendly or accomadating. While she was shampooing my hair in a closet that was cheaply decorated I looked up and the light in the hallway was filled with dead bugs. Do not waste you money on this so called luxury spa. Its dirty, the stylist ruined my hair, and there prices are outrageous. I'd be ashamed of myself if I owed this dump. Hard to get an appointment like they were so busy but nobody but me was in there. A total disappointment all the way around. read more
