This liquore store has a well stocked selection of wine, beer, and spirits and quite large. It was also very clean and tidy which I liked a lot. The owner convinced me to try out a small single shot bottle of an organic vodka. Based on his recommendation, I wanted 5 of them at $1 each, but was talked down to only 4 bottles by my friends. We also bought a few bottles of sparkling wine and Devil's Cut Jack Daniels for pre and post partying at the Courtyard Marriott down the street for our friend's wedding. read more

Sooo glad I decided to stop in here last minute. I tried a beer at Ciceros on Delmar a few weeks ago that I LOVED and immediately looked online to try and find where it was sold. I tried Whole Food who was supposed to carry it but when I went they didn't have it. I got discouraged and just went with a different not so good beer. I decided to stop in here after work today and was impressed with the selection they have and they ended up having the beer I was looking for! I will definitely be making this my go to store! CENTRAL LIQUOR is the worst place to buy beer! Bought Miller Gen Draft from a them about five months ago - it was flat, did not take back. Bought 6pack again today and it was flat! Expired in Aug., 2018, this is Nov. This time I took it back but he didn't give full refund because one had been opened. How else would I know it was flat???? Do not come here if you are under 30, even if you have a valid ID. I thought they had a great selection, and I would have been very happy with my purchase if I had been allowed to purchase it. Let's just say my interaction with the manager or cashier who gave me the name "Hector" (friendly enough Indian man who seemed to have a Vendetta against me) enraged me enough to write my first yelp review. They had a great and affordable selection of liquors, a good selection of beer, and a suprisingly decent list of california wines (I am a Santa Rosa CA (Sonoma/Napa County) native, and have been to several of the wineries, of the wines they carried, personally). So I'm no stranger to prices. Now let's get to "Hector." When I got in he was on the phone and laughing, which I took to be a good sign (friendly enough), but he immediately didn't like me. I do look young, so that is understood, and when he asked me if I needed help I said "Not unless you have any suggestions" which he laughed at, so I took that to be a good thing. But he had no suggestions. And boy was I wrong. When I get into a liquor store, I like to take my time because I memorize the prices of every bottle I ever purchase, and so I know roughly when a place is going to rip me off. This place wasn't. Hector eyeballed me the entire time. When I finally got to the register, I showed him my valid CALIFORNIA driver's license. He took half a glance at it (maybe 2 seconds) and said that it was fake. I assured him that it wasn't, and politely asked him if he could scan it. He said he could call the police and have them verify that it was fake. I replied, please do, they will tell you it is real. He then said he was from California and knew what CA ID's looked like. CLEARLY he didn't and wasn't. He then said he couldn't call the police, because it would take too long and other customers would get mad (of which there were few to none). I asked him again to scan the ID. He said they had no scanners and to go somewhere else. I then asked him that if I could provide the letter from the DMV that the license came with would I be allowed to purchase this stuff? (I recently had to get a new license after having my wallet stolen and so still had that available). He said sure. When I got back, less than ten minutes later, with the letter, he then SCANNED MY ID. Or at least ran it through with the barcode, which he did not even attempt to do before. I asked him what that was, and he only said "go ahead and buy something" very rudely. And with no apology. I asked him if he still had my stuff. He laughed and replied that he already put it away, even though it had been less than ten minutes and it was probably still behind the counter. In any case, I know I'm young and only 23, but I appreciate being treated like a human being and taken seriously. I understand that it is better to be safe than sorry, and I do think Hector could be nice to some customers. But it was an awful experience. If they really don't have scanners (which I may have been lied to about), management should seriously consider investing in one. An apology, or a gesture of some sort, would have been nice. I really don't understand what the point of lying, or being so rude, to customers is. read more

this was my neighborhood store to go to.. but as of friday jan 19th it is no longer. my boyfriend purchased a cork screw from them on thursday jan 18th it was only 4.99 he figured what the hell the only offered 2 types to choose from which was a $4.99 and a $2.99 which the store clerk told him the $4.99 was a great one. so he purchased it. i opened the package when he brought it home and noticed it was a plastic cork screw opener and as soon as i tried to open one of the 3 bottles of wine i purchased from arena liquour it broke. he took the cork crew back around to them and they did not want to honor it nor giver us another one after i just spent over $100 for a grey goose set and 3 bottles of wine i'm a regular with the wine every week.. so i was terribly upset when he came home and told me what happened the clerk felt bad that his boss said he could not do anything about that even though the clerk told him we were regulars so the clerk gave us a $2.99 cork screw we couldn't get the difference back from the original $4.99. i had the receipt it doesn't state no refunds. i would never return liquor... but the cork screw was a joke. it broke as well because they were plastic.this time i went around there to return the other cheap cork screw and the owner was there this time. i placed the cork screw down in front of him and told him this cheap cork screw broke too.. since he was being cheap about that i wouldn't spend another dime. he would let someone who faithfully spends with him every week min $60 just for my wine to walk away. you open these stores in our neighborhood but don't want to take care of your patron when need be. that's.. sad... you will not be in business long like that and i felt bad because you barely have customers in there but i will spend my dollar somewhere else. read more
