My brows were rough! I was tired of having meltdowns each day trying to do my eyebrows and started looking into permanent makeup. I scoured social media looking for an artist whose style I liked. (I actually had them done 6 years ago and didn't do much research or take time choosing an artist and as a result was not happy with them, so I never got them touched up and they faded away except for a few spots that remained redish on the tails) While I scoured social media I found many options for artists throughout Portland but when I came across the photos of Courtney's work at Arden Gate Studio I was IN LOVE. I scoured all the photos she had available online and started following her in general. After a month or so I finally enquired about an appointment and sent her some photos since I had previously had work done I wanted to make sure getting them done again was even doable. From the moment of my first interaction with her via email I could immediately tell that Courtney is incredibly knowledgeable in her expertise. She explains things in very detailed ways and is very open and realistic about what is achievable and what isn't which makes you feel like you weren't taken advantage of and more in control of the situation. At my appointment I was impressed with her attention to detail. You can definitely tell she's a perfectionist, exactly what you want in an artist designing something on your face! It's also clear that this is her passion and that she enjoys what she does! She is incredibly warm and welcoming and makes you feel right at home which absolutely makes the experience that much more enjoyable. She gives very clear and concise instructions regarding pre-care, after-care, and what to expect while healing and even gives tips for parking at the studio which for someone like me who has major anxiety... is relieving because I don't run into anything I don't anticipate. I just can't say enough wonderful things about her work and my experience with her. I'm currently in the healing phase of my brows which isn't the funnest part but I'm IN LOVE with them and I'm confident being in Countney's hands. Months ago, I saw a co-worker who had done microblading in her eyebrows. So I thought to myself, why not? She then told me she had done hers on a local beauty school, and it actually looked very nice. Then I thought it would be a good idea since I was also a student at some point, and had to care for my patients despite the fact that I was still a student. So I made my appointment at the beauty school, and got my eyebrows done. To my surprise, despite the fact I told the student and the instructor I did not want my eyebrows thick, they still did the eyebrows gigantic and super thick, besides being also super dark. Oh boy, my eyebrows looked awful. I still tried to have a great attitude about it and just wait it out. Then through a co-worker, I found Courtney. She was so amazing in guiding me through the process of how to remove some of the color, and then work through another microblading session. We did two saline removal sessions, and amazingly enough, my eyebrows barely had any color left on them. We then had our first microblading session, and my eyebrows look nothing but amazing! I wish I could post a picture for y'all to see! Courtney was spot on with the color, thickness, and every single detail you can think of and my eyebrows looked amazing after just one session. Now I am anxiously waiting for my touch up session which will happen in two weeks, and I cannot wait to see what it will look like! Courtney is beyond talented as a makeup artist, and I cannot say enough great things about her work. She is a perfectionist, detail oriented, and has great taste in choosing the right color to match exactly what the customer is hoping for. Thank you for sharing my experience and I really recommend Courtney to anyone. read more

Amazing Experience with Courtney at Arden Gates Studio! I recently had my eyebrows done by Courtney at Arden Gates Studio, and I couldn't be happier with the results! From start to finish, it was the most genuine and authentic experience I could have hoped for. Courtney is incredibly talented and has an eye for detail that immediately put me at ease. She is so positive and friendly, making the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does and that passion comes through in her work. I left the studio not only with beautiful eyebrows that exceeded my expectations but also with a huge smile on my face, thanks to Courtney's amazing energy and talent. She took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and provided expert advice to ensure my brows looked perfect. Her professionalism and skill are unmatched, but what truly makes her stand out is her warm and inviting personality. Courtney is a whole vibe--friendly, upbeat, and genuinely caring about her clients, which makes the entire process enjoyable. The studio itself is clean, cozy, and beautifully designed, which adds to the overall experience. It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a comfortable and welcoming environment, and I felt at ease from the moment I walked in. If you're considering getting a permanent eyebrow tattoo, I highly recommend Courtney at Arden Gates Studio. It's the best experience you could ask for--both in terms of the results and the atmosphere. I am beyond thrilled with my new brows and can't thank Courtney enough for her amazing work! Thank you, Courtney, for such a wonderful experience. I can't wait to come back! Best, Savana Milroy read more

Courtney is hands down the best brow artist! I'm extremely picky about my brow shape and general brow appearance, so I've been hesitant to get microblading or anything semi-permanent especially given how many nice waxing establishments I've been to, yet still leave in almost tears because my eyebrows are lopsided, too thin, etc. However, after looking at actual pictures she had done, and all of her amazing work with varying beginning brow status, different skin types/complexions she's worked with, I was so excited and booked a appointment. The actual process was extremely easy and painless in my opinion. Courtney was so sweet the entire time and made sure I was comfortable, and ofcourse made sure the brow template was how I imagined -before she began the actual microblading. Aside from the amazing quality, I was blown away by her prices. For quality microblade, $600-$700 seems to be the minimum price, Courtney's price was substantially below that with just as amazing results. I do suggest booking soon though, as I do recall her saying her prices would be going up soon. It's been exactly a week since I've had mine done and they are currently in the peeling/flaking stage(this is a normal stage), but still look great. I can't wait to see how they look when they are fully healed! I will be posting pictures for sure. Also, Courtney's instagram is amazing for seeing real before and afters she's done. If you are looking for great brows, Courtney is the women to see! read more

I was under Courtney's care for micro blading and lip blush procedures. She was fantastic in every way! Upon arrival, I was slightly nervous for the procedures, but she quickly put me completely at ease. One of the things I appreciated most was her strict adherence to aseptic technique--having tattoos applied to the face is a serious procedure with inherent risks. It was impressive how many extra precautions she took to ensure my safety as well as a successful outcome. She took her time to thoroughly explain the procedures and gave clear verbal and written aftercare instructions. Extra care was taken to completely measure and map-out customized brow and lip design proposals, she was very tactful and professional in her personalized recommendations for my face shape, and asked me for my input and approval before moving forward. Because of all the extra care and attention, I was completely relaxed for the duration of the procedure--it also helped that I was constantly checked on to ensure I stayed comfortably numb. Courtney nailed it!! The shape and color of my brows and lips are spot-on and spectacular! Artistry, attention to detail, professionalism, and perfectionism--these are all skill-sets that she has to ensure an amazing outcome. I couldn't be happier with my decision to have Courtney at Arden Gate Studio perform my PMU procedures. I wake up in the morning and half my makeup routine is already done! Such a time saver! read more

Courtney is fantastic. The entire process was easy and pain-free. She kept me well-informed before, during, and after the treatment about what to expect, how to prepare, and how to best care for my tattoos. You can completely trust her to take great care of you. She listened to my requests, was meticulous about placement, and went above and beyond to ensure I had a wonderful experience. I had my brows (powder ombre) and eyeliner (classic wedge with lower) done simultaneously. Her numbing process is top-notch. I barely felt anything, and when I did feel the slightest poke, she immediately addressed it with more numbing, ensuring I was comfortable the entire time. I felt as if I was having a spa treatment. I've had my eyeliner done three times in the past by another artist, and Courtney is far superior in color selection, style, application, and comfort. I will continue to see her for all my tattoo needs. I'm 51 years old with sensitive skin, and I'm incredibly impressed with how beautiful my tattoos look and how well they are healing. The building is not what I expected. I did have to accept that it's an antique historical building creaking floors and all. If you like historical places, this will be a treat for you. read more

I had my eyebrows waxed once right before homecoming my junior year... it was 2000 something, thin brows were in. I'll leave it at that. But what I won't leave out is that my eyebrows never grew back. I'm 31 and I've never waxed, plucked, or threaded my eyebrows since I was 16. And over the years they got thin & patchy... Courtney, at Arden Gate is AMAZING!! I am a total wimp with pain & she has it down to a science. I felt NOTHING. Courtney has a process that not all artists use. Several friends of mine have gone elsewhere in years past & couldn't stop talking about the pain. She is so kind, caring, and gentle and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable! She is a perfectionist with the shape she pencils on for you to review & has no complaints when you want a small adjustment. I debated for years on getting mine done, and I am so glad I did, and I'm even happier that I went to Courtney at Arden Gate because she literally makes the whole experience. I have traditional tattoos, that hurt (unlike this with Courtney's special method), and just like tattoos, your artist is who really defines your experience! I highly recommend Courtney for all your PMU... she's literally the best! read more

Business Location: Very easy to find, Arden Gate Studio is located in a super-cool, older building with lots of character; that aesthetic continues into their suite with a vibe that made me feel I was cool just for being there! The decor is thoughtful, stylish and creative- everything you want in your Professional Makeup Artist. Professionalism/Courtesy: Courtney spent lots of time answering my questions before my session even took place, then she answered more questions and eased my nervousness during my session since I had no experience with permanent makeup. Technique/Quality: Courtney told me everything she would do before she did it so there were no surprises. She continually checked in if there was inappropriate discomfort and, if needed, adjusted her approach. I received Eyeliner makeup last night and what I requested created quite a bit of swelling/discoloring around my eyes; however, even considering this, today I received compliments on how nice my eyeliner looked before I even mentioned I'd had it done!! This made me very confident in the quality of Courtney's skillful technique and experience; I feel I've invited a professional artist into my life long-term. 5 Stars! read more

10/10 stars!!! Courtney fixed my life and I am So grateful for her eye and skill! I got a botched microblading job. As in, I was too far in to back out after the $1000+ spent, HOURS long appointments (4 total sessions of pain and so much time I will not get back) with the previous person whom I now believe used false reviews and fake photos. It was really hard to trust my face to anyone else. Met up with a friend and she had gone to Courtney and her brows looked amazing, I said this is what I wanted and I need her info stat! I text Courtney pics of my face and asked if she could help. She replied quickly and said "I can fix those!" And let me tell you, she did! She corrected the shape and the blue gray/silver color that had become my less than 4 months old brows. They look so good now. My husband said "they are the best they have ever looked" coming from a man who could care less about eye brows. I will NEVER go anywhere else but here. Also, my correction took about an hour and the touch up was maybe 20 minutes, I felt NO pain. Nothing. I was gripping the table and digging in my heels at the other place... Thank you, Courtney!!! You are a lifesaver!!! read more

Courtney came highly recommended by top rated, Best in Portland, tattoo removal owner and artist (shout out to the amazing Sarah at Take It Off!) I would have been so nervous to go anywhere else, except that I trust Sarah immensely - when pressed, she did not hesitate to recommend Courtney at Arden Gate. Also, I was so sure that I wanted microblading again for hair-like strokes but! Courtney, with all her integrity and experience, convinced me that powder brows were the most appropriate service for my skin and age (dry skin and 51 yrs old.) All that to say, please don't try and save money by going somewhere a little less expensive with this kind of stuff. It is truly the best $$ I have spent on myself and I would have traveled hours to have her work on me! :-) Like everyone else has said, she is a true artist. My healed brows look so much more natural, and are the perfect, most flattering shape and color for my face. Went back (of course!) for eyeshadow eyeliner and feel and look 20 years younger without makeup. Confident you'll love her! read more

Courtney did my eyeliner and eyebrows and I am in love, my only regret is that I didn't get it done sooner. Permanent makeup is a big decision and can be intimidating. Courtney is very informative about the process and willing to answer any and all questions. She works to create the best look custom to your features. During the actual tattooing/micro blading, there are no surprises, Courtney will talk you through everything before she does anything. I especially had a difficult time with my left lower eyelash line, Courtney was compassionate, comforting and patient and we were able to work through it, they turned out amazing. I did some research before committing to an artist and what drew me to Courtney is how very passionate she is about her work and business. Her passion is clear in her blogs, website, social media and attention to detail. If you're looking for permanent makeup, this is the artist to book with! I look forward to coming back for my lip enhancement soon! read more

I cannot express how much I LOVE my powder eyebrows done by Courtney!! She is absolutely a GEM!! I had been looking into possibly getting my eyebrows microbladed for about 4 years, I came across Arden Gate Studio on Instagram, once I saw Courtney's work I knew I just had to get my eyebrows done by her!! She is uh-mazing! I decided to book an appointment with her and loved her combo eyebrow work but decided to take a free quiz on their website to see what service would possibly suit me. I ended up going with their suggestion and opted in on some powder brows, and now I am here admiring her amazing work on my face as I type this review! Courtney was wonderful throughout the experience and with Covid-19 going on she kept me updated on what was going on with appointments as Washington was still in the early phases up opening back up when I originally scheduled. If you are looking for someone who is fabulous and knowledgeable about cosmetic tattooing look no further!!! read more

I've never been able to master a cat eye. Not with liquid eyeliner, not with a pencil, and not even with all the patience in the world. I randomly came across Arden Gate's Instagram page one day and as I reviewed their posted work I knew I finally had a solution to my problem. I could not be happier with the results. Don't be scared of permanent makeup. This isn't the same stuff you see on little old ladies! It saves me so much time and I even wear makeup less often now because I feel pulled together because of my perfect eyeliner. The procedure isn't painful, but it is a tad ticklish. My healing time for both appointments was about a week, and Courtney gave me this awesome baum that made keeping my eyeliner tattoo moist while healing super easy. Courtney is really professional and took the time to make sure I liked what I saw before she started to tattoo. Thank you! PS My photo is posting weird. Be sure to click on it so you can see it in its entirety. read more

I have never been more satisfied with an artist's work as I am with the services rendered by Courtney at Arden Gate Studios. I was such a mess when I came to her. I had had a truly horrendous micro blading procedure done at another salon, enduring countless tattoo removal sessions before I was referred to Courtney. My eyebrows had been scarred with some pigment still in place. Courtney was able to work with the remaining patches of color and create a beautiful set of brows I thought I would never see again on my face. I like a bold brow but was skittish about going through this again after all I had been through. Courtney reassured me and I felt comfortable with her from the start. Her expertise in color, design and knowledge about aging skin types is unmatched in the industry and I recommend her totally. I loved her work so much that I had her do my eyeliner, which she is renowned for. Total perfection! read more

For someone who has always felt like something was missing from her face and would spend 30+ minutes every day, sometimes multiple times a day drawing on her eyebrows just to have them smeared or wiped off I can honestly say that having them microbladed has been life changing! I have a background in design so I was looking for someone with really consistent work, clean and precise lines, an eye for symmetry and someone who was willing to share healed photos as well! I found all of that with Courtney. My original booking was for combo brows because my hair was so sparse I figured I would need a tint to achieve a natural and full look, but Courtney worked her magic (which almost seems effortless for her) and gave me these big, beautiful, symmetrical and natural looking brows without the tinting! I still can't believe it. Please don't hesitate, you are so worth this procedure and Courtney is your undeniable go-to! read more

Great artist & wonderful professional. Courtney is truly a master at her craft & my anxiety melted away as soon as the appointment got underway. I chose Arden Gate based upon significant research & finding the reputation of the studio to be stellar. The ambiance of the studio has a wonderful aesthetic with unique decor & rare antique pieces. During the procedure, Courtney kept checking on me to ensure i was doing alright.. I am able to tolerate a significant amount of pain & this procedure felt like scratching an itch when I felt it at all. My lips were difficult to color and numb, so I felt some poking but it was not a big deal...Courtney has a pretty light hand & I did not feel the majority of the procedure & even started dozing off because I was so relaxed. The results speak volumes ... if you are a professional constantly in the public eye, "Well worth the time & money!" Brows, lids & lips done!! read more

Courtney at Arden Gate Studios is where it's at! I'm a 90's baby and we all know what that means... overplucked brows! I have been to MANY PMU artists and, if I'm being 100% honest, I usually leave feeling pretty disappointed. So I promised myself that the next time I decided to get my brows done, I was going to make sure that I found the perfect PMU artist before taking the leap. After 1 1/2 years of endless searching and social media stocking... I found Courtney! She is incredible. She did a fantastic job on my brows. And on top of that, she talked me through everything and ensured that I was selecting the best possible method for ME and that I had all the information I needed to maintain my brows properly so they will last. Needless to say, she was well worth the two 4 hour drives for the initial and touch-up appointments. read more

I just got my brows done here yesterday and they are STUNNING! My brows weren't as thick or defined as I'd like them so I got Combo Brows . I am so happy with the results! They are PERFECT. All my friends freaked out when they saw me, they had no idea I'd just gotten them done here and they were shocked when I told them that they are gonna be like this when I wake up every morning WITHOUT MAKEUP!!!!!!! Courtney, the artist, is super sweet, talented and made the experience comfortable & easy! She has amazing attention to detail, which is something you NEED in a brow artist. She worked with me on the shape and the intensity, and they look exactly how I wanted them too. It only took about 2 hours and was literally pain free! Her prices are sooooo great and I could not be happier with my brows now!! #browsonfleek #iwokeuplikethis read more

As one can imagine, the permanent makeup experience can be a little nerve-racking, anxiety-inducing, and uncomfortable going into it. However, I felt totally confident going to Courtney after doing my research and looking at her portfolio! Indeed, she made the whole experience comfortable and was completely flexible with me during the appointment. She listened to and honored all of my requests and needs. The end result was absolutely beautiful and I would feel totally confident going back to her for any other permanent make up needs. An awesome addition is that her studio is quite beautiful and you can tell that she is a designer and a perfectionist right when you walk into the waiting room.
