My brows were rough! I was tired of having meltdowns each day trying to do my eyebrows and started looking into permanent makeup. I scoured social media looking for an artist whose style I liked. (I actually had them done 6 years ago and didn't do much research or take time choosing an artist and as a result was not happy with them, so I never got them touched up and they faded away except for a few spots that remained redish on the tails) While I scoured social media I found many options for artists throughout Portland but when I came across the photos of Courtney's work at Arden Gate Studio I was IN LOVE. I scoured all the photos she had available online and started following her in general. After a month or so I finally enquired about an appointment and sent her some photos since I had previously had work done I wanted to make sure getting them done again was even doable. From the moment of my first interaction with her via email I could immediately tell that Courtney is incredibly knowledgeable in her expertise. She explains things in very detailed ways and is very open and realistic about what is achievable and what isn't which makes you feel like you weren't taken advantage of and more in control of the situation. At my appointment I was impressed with her attention to detail. You can definitely tell she's a perfectionist, exactly what you want in an artist designing something on your face! It's also clear that this is her passion and that she enjoys what she does! She is incredibly warm and welcoming and makes you feel right at home which absolutely makes the experience that much more enjoyable. She gives very clear and concise instructions regarding pre-care, after-care, and what to expect while healing and even gives tips for parking at the studio which for someone like me who has major anxiety... is relieving because I don't run into anything I don't anticipate. I'm currently in the healing phase of my brows which isn't the funnest part but I'm IN LOVE with them and I'm confident being in Countney's hands. Months ago, I saw a co-worker who had done microblading in her eyebrows. So I thought to myself, why not? She then told me she had done hers on a local beauty school, and it actually looked very nice. Then I thought it would be a good idea since I was also a student at some point, and had to care for my patients despite the fact that I was still a student. So I made my appointment at the beauty school, and got my eyebrows done. To my surprise, despite the fact I told the student and the instructor I did not want my eyebrows thick, they still did the eyebrows gigantic and super thick, besides being also super dark. Oh boy, my eyebrows looked awful. I still tried to have a great attitude about it and just wait it out. Then through a co-worker, I found Courtney. She was so amazing in guiding me through the process of how to remove some of the color, and then work through another microblading session. We did two saline removal sessions, and amazingly enough, my eyebrows barely had any color left on them. We then had our first microblading session, and my eyebrows look nothing but amazing! I wish I could post a picture for y'all to see! Courtney was spot on with the color, thickness, and every single detail you can think of and my eyebrows looked amazing after just one session. Now I am anxiously waiting for my touch up session which will happen in two weeks, and I cannot wait to see what it will look like! Courtney is hands down the best brow artist! I'm extremely picky about my brow shape and general brow appearance, so I've been hesitant to get microblading or anything semi-permanent especially given how many nice waxing establishments I've been to, yet still leave in almost tears because my eyebrows are lopsided,too thin, etc. However, after looking at actual pictures she had done, and all of her amazing work with varying beginning brow status, different skin types/complexions she's worked with, I was so excited and booked a appointment. The actual process was extremely easy and painless in my opinion. Courtney was so sweet the entire time and made sure I was comfortable, and ofcourse made sure the brow template was how I imagined -before she began the actual microblading. Aside from the amazing quality, I was blown away by her prices. For quality microblade, $600-$700 seems to be the minimum price, Courtney's price was substantially below that with just as amazing results. I do suggest booking soon though, as I do recall her saying her prices would be going up soon. It's been exactly a week since I've had mine done and they are currently in the peeling/flaking stage(this is a normal stage), but still look great. I was under Courtney's care for micro blading and lip blush procedures. She was fantastic in every way! Upon arrival, I was slightly nervous for the procedures, but she quickly put me completely at ease. One of the things I appreciated most was her strict adherence to aseptic technique--having tattoos applied to the face is a serious procedure with inherent risks. It was impressive how many extra precautions she took to ensure my safety as well as a successful outcome. She took her time to thoroughly explain the procedures and gave clear verbal and written aftercare instructions. Extra care was taken to completely measure and map-out customized brow and lip design proposals, she was very tactful and professional in her personalized recommendations for my face shape, and asked me for my input and approval before moving forward. Because of all the extra care and attention, I was completely relaxed for the duration of the procedure--it also helped that I was constantly checked on to ensure I stayed comfortably numb. Courtney nailed it!! The shape and color of my brows and lips are spot-on and spectacular! Artistry, attention to detail, professionalism, and perfectionism--these are all skill-sets that she has to ensure an amazing outcome. Courtney is fantastic. The entire process was easy and pain-free. She kept me well-informed before, during, and after the treatment about what to expect, how to prepare, and how to best care for my tattoos. You can completely trust her to take great care of you. She listened to my requests, was meticulous about placement, and went above and beyond to ensure I had a wonderful experience. I had my brows (powder ombre) and eyeliner (classic wedge with lower) done simultaneously. Her numbing process is top-notch. I barely felt anything, and when I did feel the slightest poke, she immediately addressed it with more numbing, ensuring I was comfortable the entire time. I felt as if I was having a spa treatment. I've had my eyeliner done three times in the past by another artist, and Courtney is far superior in color selection, style, application, and comfort. I will continue to see her for all my tattoo needs. I'm 51 years old with sensitive skin, and I'm incredibly impressed with how beautiful my tattoos look and how well they are healing. I had my eyebrows waxed once right before homecoming my junior year... it was 2000 something, thin brows were in. I'll leave it at that. But what I won't leave out is that my eyebrows never grew back. I'm 31 and I've never waxed, plucked, or threaded my eyebrows since I was 16. And over the years they got thin & patchy... Courtney, at Arden Gate is AMAZING!! I am a total wimp with pain & she has it down to a science. I felt NOTHING. Courtney has a process that not all artists use. Several friends of mine have gone elsewhere in years past & couldn't stop talking about the pain. She is so kind, caring, and gentle and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable! She is a perfectionist with the shape she pencils on for you to review & has no complaints when you want a small adjustment. Business Location: Very easy to find, Arden Gate Studio is located in a super-cool, older building with lots of character; that aesthetic continues into their suite with a vibe that made me feel I was cool just for being there! The decor is thoughtful, stylish and creative- everything you want in your Professional Makeup Artist. Professionalism/Courtesy: Courtney spent lots of time answering my questions before my session even took place, then she answered more questions and eased my nervousness during my session since I had no experience with permanent makeup. Technique/Quality: Courtney told me everything she would do before she did it so there were no surprises. She continually checked in if there was inappropriate discomfort and, if needed, adjusted her approach. I received Eyeliner makeup last night and what I requested created quite a bit of swelling/discoloring around my eyes; however, even considering this, today I received compliments on how nice my eyeliner looked before I even mentioned I'd had it done!! 10/10 stars!!! Courtney fixed my life and I am So grateful for her eye and skill! I got a botched microblading job. As in, I was too far in to back out after the $1000+ spent, HOURS long appointments (4 total sessions of pain and so much time I will not get back) with the previous person whom I now believe used false reviews and fake photos. It was really hard to trust my face to anyone else. Met up with a friend and she had gone to Courtney and her brows looked amazing, I said this is what I wanted and I need her info stat! I text Courtney pics of my face and asked if she could help. She replied quickly and said "I can fix those!" And let me tell you, she did! She corrected the shape and the blue gray/silver color that had become my less than 4 months old brows. They look so good now. My husband said "they are the best they have ever looked" coming from a man who could care less about eye brows. I will NEVER go anywhere else but here. Courtney did my eyeliner and eyebrows and I am in love, my only regret is that I didn't get it done sooner. Permanent makeup is a big decision and can be intimidating. Courtney is very informative about the process and willing to answer any and all questions. She works to create the best look custom to your features. I cannot express how much I LOVE my powder eyebrows done by Courtney!! She is absolutely a GEM!! I've never been able to master a cat eye. Not with liquid eyeliner, not with a pencil, and not even with all the patience in the world. I randomly came across Arden Gate's Instagram page one day and as I reviewed their posted work I knew I finally had a solution to my problem. I could not be happier with the results. Don't be scared of permanent makeup. This isn't the same stuff you see on little old ladies! It saves me so much time and I even wear makeup less often now because I feel pulled together because of my perfect eyeliner. The procedure isn't painful, but it is a tad ticklish. My healing time for both appointments was about a week, and Courtney gave me this awesome baum that made keeping my eyeliner tattoo moist while healing super easy. I have never been more satisfied with an artist's work as I am with the services rendered by Courtney at Arden Gate Studios. I was such a mess when I came to her. I had had a truly horrendous micro blading procedure done at another salon, enduring countless tattoo removal sessions before I was referred to Courtney. My eyebrows had been scarred with some pigment still in place. Courtney was able to work with the remaining patches of color and create a beautiful set of brows I thought I would never see again on my face. For someone who has always felt like something was missing from her face and would spend 30+ minutes every day, sometimes multiple times a day drawing on her eyebrows just to have them smeared or wiped off I can honestly say that having them microbladed has been life changing! I can't say enough about Courtney and Arden Gate studio. I was referred to them in 2020 as Courtney is well known for her eyeliner work I had tattooed eyeliner in 2016 but the artist, who I found on Groupon, did an awful job and for four years I spent more time trying to cover up her bad work than anything else. Then I had a consult with Courtney who advised she could repair the work already done. After waiting for an available appointment, she's understandably booked a couple months out, Courtney did the first correction with a follow up six weeks later and I look like a new person.
