Avoid this Arco at all cost. They have something shady going on with credit/debit card payments. The machine at the pump will always decline all your cards so you're forced to go inside and charge a high amount, get your gas, go back inside, stand in line again and get a refund for the amount you didn't pump. I've been there three times in the last 6 months on my way to rental car return by LAX and the same thing happened every time. The employees are very rude, in particular the heavy set hispanic girl who'll kick you out if you inquire about the credit card machine. This is the most unfriendly convenience store staff ever! We stay at the Holiday Inn LAX whenever in town for a concert (they're wonderful btw) and on two separate occasions we went into this store right on the corner by our hotel and either found staff ranting about something or just being so very rude- when all we were trying to do is purchase water. This Arco is conveniently located on Century Blvd, several hundred meters away from the airport gates. I stop here every once in a while for a restroom break or a snack when driving to or from the airport. The gas station and convenience store is sizable. There is one restroom here, and there is often a line to use it. You'll need to get the key from the cashier, or just get it form the person using it ahead of you. This store has just about everything that you'd find at other Arco locations, including low-priced gas, and tons of snacks. Keep in mind that they don't accept credit, only debit, here. And they charge a fee to use debit. You get all kinds of characters that come through here, from pleasant travelers on the go, to shady characters, to crazies. But hey, that's expected on a large intersection in a major city like LA. NYC had its fair share of variety too. The workers here are alright people. I've never had issues with them nor their store. For a busy place, they sure keep it tidy. The restrooms are actually not disgusting, which is amazing considering that other gas stations with far less traffic sometimes have unclean restrooms. If you're in need of gas or a quick snack, this is a good place to stop. If you're in need of a restroom break, you might be waiting a few minutes in line. But it's worth coming here instead of other locations. read more

This is a super busy gas station by the airport, but they have cheap gas. Brave the crowds and horrible drivers at your own risk.

You really can't expect anything more from a gas station that is somewhat near LAX. Very clean and organized. The gas pumps are situated in such a way that traffic can flow in and out smoothly with causing accidents. I also appreciate the fact that they have more than one driveway seeing that they are located right on the corner of Aviation and Century. What I enjoyed to was the fact that they have music playing that everyone can enjoy while pumping gas. It gave off a club scene. Too cool!! read more

Before returning rental vehicles at LAX, I prefer filling up the gas tank at this Arco AM PM station. Problem is that they are normally jam packed with customers that I cannot get into the lot. Too bad cause they sell the cheapest gas in the vicinity. Other than that, I have no other reason to come here. read more

You know how when you rent a car at the airport and they ask you whether you want to pre-buy gas, and you waffle because while it might seem like a good idea (especially since they offer a competitive price per gallon) you waffle on it because you have no idea how close the nearest gas station is to the rental car agency and you wonder whether it's going to be practical in the race to get the car returned to stop and fill it up, but at the same time you know you'll never return it completely empty so they're going to get you on at least a gallon or two? Yeah I know all about that. Seriously. It plagues me sometimes. Well, this Arco is super close to the car rental returns at LAX, so as long as you have 5 minutes to spare, you can fill'er up here and scoot on over to return your whip no problemo. Decent prices, but with a $.35 surcharge for using debit. Otherwise it's an Arco. So, you know... what makes this anything special is its proximity to the rental car return lots. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Lilliana behind the counter just ran my card for 50$. I was not able to get gas because...well honestly I still don't know why. She was not able to refund me. She refunded someone 20$ but it wasn't me. In short, she just stole 50$ from me and just stood there stuttering, unable to fix or explain anything. And after all that, I still have no gas. She also refused to give me any information on her manager. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau. read more

Perhaps this is a regular stop for some but I would guess that most folks using this Arco do so before returning their car to LAX. The area is not great as echoed in other reviews but I didn't feel terribly unsafe. I was asked for money, albeit in a polite manner. 4 and a half years after Ryan's post, Arco still doesn't accept credit cards and actually didn't accept my debit card either. The process was long - after realizing that the machine took none of my cards, I was forced to go into the convenience store, take out cash and then put cash into the machine. I of course had to put extra money in, since I needed to return the car full. The gas flow was unbearably slow - literally took 10 minutes to fill the car - roughly 15 gallons. Then I had to go back into the convenience store to get the remainder of my money. It shouldn't take 20 minutes plus to pump a tank of gas. So for all of the foregoing reasons, I will not revisit this Arco. read more

The Gas station is like any other, Not sure how to enlighten you. The intersection is very busy and this is the closest Arco to LAX, so you will get commuters and people rushing to fill up Rentals before they board a flight, keep a watch out for the cars when pulling in and watch out for cars inside the gas station grounds. Things could get hectic but its an Arco so gas will be cheap. read more

Ryan and Kohl, I third your point about the pointlessness of gas station reviews, yet here is review number three. arco is cheap gas, so it definitely beats the other gas station catty corner that is usualy 10-20 cents more. the store thing at the gas station does have a lot of stuff and mcdonalds is essentially in the same parking lot. i kno the posh business crowd that might stop here on their way to the airport is not sure about the individuals milling around the station, but its fairly common at hood stations to have someone offer to fill ur tank for you for a couple bucks. a polite no will do. also a heads up, LAX is only a few miles west down century, in which you will also pass taco bell, carl's jr and a couple other gas stations which only get more expensive the farther west you go. read more

I always come here around 10am to fill up the company car and never have any problems here whatsoever. After years of filling up at this gas station I'm glad to see that now they take credit cards outside and inside. Seems to be the only ARCO in the area that takes credit. So for the people that were whining like children about the inconvenience, now you can stop by and fill up with your credit card at no extra cost. I went in to purchase cigarettes. Its posted on the glass window that mobile coupons are accepted, fine. I proceed to request the cigs and open the coupon on my phone. Only to be told by the cashier she could not accept the $2 coupons. I asked why, and she said the manager said so. I was livid because if the coupon is clicked on, there is only 5 minutes to use before it goes away. can't be aborted. If they accept $1 coupons they must accept all coupons, according to Marlboro. Yup I called them to make a formal complaint against this location. I have used the same coupon amount in the past. No problems. All of a sudden they change rules without posting it. Went there 8/25 around 9-10 o clock to buy some drinks and Advil. For one they were out of Advil but that's not the reason for the review. I wait in one line and get to the front only to have the cashier tell me they're closed. So I get in the other line and wait a good while only for this cashier to do the same thing when I get to the front of the line again. So I ask her what I'm supposed to do since I have stuff in my hands and I've been waiting. She just shrugs and acts like it's not her problem because she's "off the clock." I know it's pretty pointless to write a review about a gas station, but this Arco location is so ridiculous, that if I can deter one person from going there, then my mission is accomplished. From the street it appears that it's just like any other gas station which you might stop at before returning your rental car and flying out of LAX. Except with one important distinction: they don't take credit cards - at all! And, there's no signage indicating such. There's some centralized machine which looks like it would take credit cards, but no, it's basically a station where you can pay in cash. What kind of gas station post- 1973 doesn't take credit cards??? (If you ask the clerk that question, you get a terse "We don't" response a look that says "I'm gonna pop a cap in yo' @$$." So if for some reason you read this, and you have to get gas in the LAX area, avoid this one. read more

As others have written, this is the last gas station on Earth that does not accept credit cards. Total PITA. You will realize your mistake when you get out of the car, look for the card-reader slots on the pumps, and discover that they are not there. Do what I did the second time I came here: get back in your car, and drive 2 blocks west to the Shell station that has joined us here in the 21st (or late 20th, at least) century. read more

Avoid this place at all cost. The worst gas station experience I've ever had. Used my credit card at the pump, it didn't work and told me to go inside to the attendant. Annoying, but whatever. So I go inside and ask the clerk (short, Latino man with short hair) for gas at my pump. I swipe my card and enter my pin. After a slight pause, half-expecting him to ask if I wanted my receipt, I look directly at him and ask, "Is that it?" No reply. Okay, it's fine, I don't need a receipt. After another awkward pause, I assume the transaction is done so I look at him again and say, "Thank you, have a good day." Still no reply. At this point, I'm already thinking this guy is rude. I walk to my car and try to fill up. I press the button to start the pump, but nothing happens. Try again, nothing. I walk back inside a minute later to notify the clerk. In the rudest way possible, he says my card didn't go through and that I had allegedly walked away before he could tell me. 1. I know my credit limit and I am positive my card would have no reason to be declined. Even then, I still had other forms of payment. 2. He had three chances to tell me my card didn't go through. THREE. I asked him "Is that it?". I told him "thank you" because I was under the impression I was done. He even could have told me as I walked out the door to my car. I am in utter amazement that this clerk had such poor customer service skills. One must be severely socially handicapped to believe that after that interaction, that I had just walked away from the register for no reason. And to blame me for the entire incident is just infuriating. I am astounded that the manager/owner of this establishment keeps him around.
