We have loved nearly all of the teachers that have had the honor of teaching our children. For the ones we didn't quite love as much, well, you win some, you lose some. Some people just don't get along with each other. I can not say anything bad about their skills as teachers because my children are all coming along fine. Their personalities just weren't for us as I'm sure our personalities weren't for them. The Learning Patch is awesome and I truly wish I had more time to volunteer and be a more active part of the PTA. The garden is completely volunteer run, so if you have some extra time on a scheduled workday, please stop by. If you have things to donate: plants, seeds, gardening tools, etc... those things are all happily accepted as well. The PTA: without question or argument, this school would not be what it is without the immense amount of parent involvement. I have heard several people make mention of the the PTA being "cliquish" but I have not personally experienced that type of behavior. I admittedly do not participate as often as I would like to but any time that I have stopped in, I have felt welcomed. I can not recommend this school enough. It has an amazing community.

While I don't remember everything about my own elementary school experience, I know it was nothing like that provided at Broadmor. From the on-site, student and volunteer run garden to the impressive library, from the fall festival and spring Hoodstock events to regular field days and even a visit from members of the Ironman Foundation, Broadmor continues to deliver a great experience to its students and serves as a place where enduring friendships are made. The teachers, administrators and staff are an amazing group of individuals who all really seem to care about each students and his/her success.

Despite the team at this school seeing and hearing the fear in her voice (she couldn't breath...she was in horror and terrified), they refused to switch her out of the class with a bully. Mind you, this school has kids in sections all day. You are with the same group all day. Instead of switching her out of class, they insisted for a month, that forcing her to go to class would help. After 9 days of my daughter in horror of sitting in class all day with this child, I encouraged her to go (per their request). Day one of returning, this bully would not leave my daughter alone and shoved her. The team there says it never happened. They claimed to review cameras and that this never happened. This happened to other parents, and they refuse to provide evidence for parents to see. Meanwhile I have been able to provide a steady stream of evidence to the school, and they claim it's false. The PD has also shared this school has been made aware of this issue from a handful of parents. I've never heard my daughter cry in such fear before. Since they still refused to switch her out of the class, I brought her in so they can face her so they can say to her face (hyperventilating, crying and in terror) and say to her face that she is "lying". They all said they were "busy" twice while I waited. Not one person in their large leadership team could come out. This school took 30 days of inaction and has accused my child and my family of lying. This experience has been beyond traumatic for our child and our family. I am very disappointed in Great Hearts with how this has been handled. The leadership has been rude and condescending during this whole experience. I am telling everyone I know to avoid Great Hearts. They do not stand by their mission and values. Avoid this school at all costs.

As a parent, it was heartbreaking to see that no real concern or responsibility was taken. Due to the incident, I had to take my son to have a tooth removed. I expected the school to handle the matter seriously and ensure student safety, but unfortunately nothing meaningful was done. I hope no other child or parent has to go through this experience. My son's graduation was a complete mess and extremely disappointing. Every student's name was called and recognized except for my son, even though he was graduating as well. Watching him be completely overlooked during such an important moment was heartbreaking as a parent. What made the situation worse was the lack of accountability and professionalism afterward. There was no face-to-face apology or genuine effort made to correct the situation. A graduation should be a proud and memorable day for every child, and unfortunately this experience was the exact opposite for my son and our family. And for this reason, I will not send my son back. Kindergarten was last year there.

He's been able to advance to the math level that makes sense for him--he's a 7th grader in Algebra--and I really appreciate that they try to get kids into a math that makes sense for where they're at. I also think they have a very decent set of electives. For instance, he's taking Forensic Science--which he loves--and he's signed up for Public Speaking/Debate in the spring. The principal, Dr. Michael, is both inspiring and very hands on. The teachers are experienced, and they seem to enjoy teaching kids this age. My son had a concussion at one point, and literally every single teacher was incredibly understanding and gave him significant time to recover and get caught up. We were very grateful. It's worth noting: to limit opportunities for bullying and misbehavior, the time between classes is tight. Middle schoolers are expected to take care of and speak up for themselves. So if someone needs water, they should bring a water bottle and fill it in the morning and at lunch. This means they have to step away from their friends for a hot second, but they figure it out pretty quickly. All in all, my son is getting a great academic education and he's learning to manage his time and speak up for himself with teachers. I'm very pleased with his experience and growth thus far! Please note: our experience is with CGP, math and electives.

Almost everyone at this school had no personality, like they were all copy and pastes of each other. Almost all the girls were blonde even if it was bleached (probably just to fit in), or the typical modern preppy, the boys however had the biggest egos I have seen. Almost every student and teacher made me feel very unsupported, overlooked, and constantly had me stressing over my appearance, and my style. The teachers were very dismissive, inconsiderate, inattentive, and overall just unprofessional. One in particular teacher was my science teacher Ms. Hains, she would constantly support the bullying of one certain student, even sometimes making rude comments to and of this student for absolutely no reason at all. Yes, I know teaching is and can be very hard but it absolutely does not mean you can take out your frustration on to your students. One of my other teachers even said that bullying should be brought back, although I know this could be a harmless joke to some, but for the people who have experienced actual bullying would not have found this funny at all. Sometimes I would go days without showing up just because of how mentally draining this school was, and when I would return NO teacher would ask how I have been, or maybe why I was out, not one single genuine concern for me. I would even go to school every single day feeling so anxious that I would sometimes throw up in the morning because of how overwhelmed I felt. I hope that I never ever have to go to a school like this ever again, I wouldn't even wish this on my worst enemy.
