I've spend many weekends there tending giant bonfires with our local fire tenders unions, blown giant fire balls in the conclaves, captured flags from a band of banditos, watched the heat from a slat wood fire make green leaves rain down on a bunch of Grateful Dead fans and spent evenings with friends and beverages. This is the closest festival spot I know of in the area that is open to most of the gatherings I attend. There are cabins available for those who prefer to sleep in a more controlled environment during music festivals. For the rest of us there is plenty of space available in the two main fields and some camp spots under tree cover. Bathrooms with showers are available but can become unusable if the crowd is too large or doesn't respect the facilities. port-o-potties are also on site. Hannon's offers many child-friendly events and has plenty of creek space to explore as well as a decent swing set with a slide. (Hint: don't use the slide at 5am after a heavy rain). Some of the Hannon family live on site and often join in the revelry. Queen Elizabeth and Jean are two of my favorite ladies of the camp. There is also a camp dog, Domino the dominatrix, owned by Queen Elizabeth. I've been able to bring my own pup to most events. He gets along pretty well with the other dogs and despite some scares with the proximity of a country road with a blind curve he has had as good of a time as I have. The red barn usually houses musical acts. Local bands like Noctaluca, Hogscraper and the Rusty Van Band have performed. Favorite festivals are Scorched Nuts, OctOHBurn and the Wang Dang Doodle.

I had been in seminary in Richmond for quite some time before I learned that an almost nine-tenths…read moremile of East Main Street is known as Millionaire's Row. This includes the 175-acre Glen Miller Park. Richmond grew east and north of what is Old Richmond. The homes along East Main Street, largely multi-storied mansions, joined with the Starr Historic District during an era when Richmond was home to 47 millionaires during the 19th century. There are walking tours here, however, I'm struck by how "normal" this residential area is these days. formerly, folks like Henry Gennett, lawn mower manufacturer Elwood W. McGuire, and architect John Hasecoster called the area home. To this day, it feels both historic and affluent. If you're not familiar with Richmond, Main Street is really part of US 40 (which is Washington Street here in Indy). This entire district includes 84 contributing buildings, 11 structures, and five objects. Architecture includes Queen Anne, Italianate, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Classical Revival, and for the more ordinary homes bungalow/American Craftsman. The Madonna of the Trail statute is here as are several other homes. While Glen Miller Park isn't necessarily fancy, it's a quite beautiful park and for sure worth a visit. As is probably obvious with such old homes, accessibility isn't the greatest around here. I've done a couple wheeling events in Richmond, and I always make a point of visiting this area. However, I've only had A handful of minor opportunities to actually go in the homes. I've often thought about how much I even just love some of these porches. Absolutely amazing.

The East Main Street-Glen Miller Park Historic District in Richmond, IN. comprises an almost…read morenine-tenths mile length of East Main Street between 18th and 30th Streets, including the 175 acres of Glen Miller Park. This area is also known as Indianapolis's "Millionaire Row." The overall character of East Main Street is that of a broad tree-lined residential street--with some fine homes. The park district recognizes the historical significance of East Main as a major entrance to Richmond and the Richmond Tourism Bureau has free public access walking tours, if you are interested in a closer look. I was very impressed with the lovely, sturdy brick houses, circa 1880, that reflect the early existence of the street as part of the National Road. There are larger, ornate residences such as those of architect John Hasecoster, piano and phonograph manufacturer Henry Gennett, and lawn mower manufacturer Elwood W. McGuire that "attest to the prominence of the street in the decades around the turn of the century," said www.waynet.org, These distinctive homes have been referred to as "Millionaire's Row". Not every home here is a mega-mansion here but the street and residential area has a well-tended attractiveness that cannot be denied. Glen Miller Park was originally owned by John Miller, an executive with the Pennsylvania Railroad. The city purchased the land from Miller and named the park in his honor, opening it in 1880. The park is still owned by the city and maintained by it. Glen Miller Park is proof of the relationship in the past century of parkway and housing development. Two features once characteristic of many American cities - the large outlying park, and the grand residential street leading to and from the center of town - are here and remarkably well preserved. If in the Richmond area, I would certainly go admire and appreciate this beautiful Historical District and Millionaire's Row.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. This was, without question, the worst camping experience…read moreI've ever had. From the second we pulled in, we were treated like we were doing something wrong. We were immediately yelled at about where we parked and where we were standing even though we were on the campsite we had paid for. At one point we were even told we couldn't walk on the grass. Before we even arrived, we carefully read every rule on the campground's website and in the pamphlet they provided. Despite that, management continually made up new "rules" that weren't listed anywhere. It seemed like every few hours there was another restriction that had never been communicated. What made it even worse was the obvious double standard. We observed people smoking marijuana, and another campsite near us was playing loud music well after 11:00 p.m. without anyone saying a word. Yet when our group did anything remotely similar, we were immediately confronted and yelled at. It felt like the rules only applied to us. Management spent more time driving around looking for people to confront than letting guests enjoy their vacation. They walked around at night with a huge flashlight shining into people's vehicles, which felt invasive and unnecessary. Instead of creating a welcoming atmosphere, they created one where everyone was afraid they would be the next person to get yelled at. Before booking, we even called to make sure our large group would be accommodated. We were assured it would be completely fine. Once we arrived, however, it was clear we were no longer welcome. Management complained about our group throughout our stay, despite having approved it beforehand. This wasn't a camping trip, it felt like paying to be constantly monitored and criticized. It was stressful from beginning to end and easily the worst vacation I've ever been on. We will never return, and I would strongly encourage anyone looking for a relaxing camping trip to choose a different campground.

Those same sites are pretty small and you feel like you're right on top of your neighbor. This place is much more accommodating for seasonals. The playground and jump pad are pretty far from most of the nightly sites so the kiddos need their bikes or you need a golf cart. The fishing lake desperately needs stocked. The inflatables at the beach are fun for the kids and we enjoyed the outdoor music, but not sure we'll come back.

The last time I went to Perfect North it was $20 for one hour. We went right at 11am when they opened. There was a 20 minute delay from the groups that got ahead of us signing the waivers. The waivers are on iPads and there are only two. This would have maybe been better if we had not got there right at opening. They have a nice area to sit inside and get warm and have snacks. The snack bar has warm drinks and the normal snacks you would find at a concession stand like nachos with liquid cheese. The slopes are all the same and just a straight down tube run. At Perfect North the have designed some of the runs to be different slopes, humps etc. I love the have some fun, they let me wear my T-Rex suit and tube down the hill. We had a great time in the snow and so close to Richmond Indiana.

This B&B is in a classy home, tastefully restored, with stained glass windows on a gorgeous wood staircase. My wife and I stayed two nights for a weekend getaway. The entire place is very clean and smells wonderful. There is a hospitality room for all guests on the second story, with a mini fridge, microwave, and water dispenser. We made use of the mini fridge and microwave to store and reheat leftover dinner. It would have been nice to have coffee available, as well as tea bags, and/or complimentary soda or bottled water. We were provided with yummy desserts on both nights - lemon sugar cookies and then pound cake. Breakfasts are good - plenty of fruit, orange juice and coffee. The entrees were a kind of quiche in a bowl and French toast. Our room on the first floor (Room 1) was cozy and clean and warm, albeit small. The size of our room didn't matter to us, because we were the only guests on Friday and could wander the house and relax in the sitting room to read on a rainy day. The B&B is within 5 minutes of several fast food, local and chain restaurants. We did not explore Richmond too much, but it seems there are nice parks in town and plenty of classy homes to drive by. Within the B&B, there are only a couple board games, but they do have satellite TV in every room. There are several DVDs for borrowing, but our room did not have a DVD player. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, which was relaxing and stress free.
