The quality of screenings is faultless and attention is obviously shown to the quality of the sound and the picture. The auditorium is very spacious yet it feels homely, the seats are comfortable, and as everyone is there for the same thing - to see a quality French film - it is very unusual to have people talking through the screening. The cafe area is also lovely, with a good atmosphere, if a little pricey. If you're a fan of French cinema you can do no better than Cinema Lumiere.

The cinema tickets are pretty pricey, however I am impressed by the lounge/bar areas and especially the internet/lounge area. They actually provide films with headphones so you can watch films on TV, and it's a nice place to come if you needed somewhere cool to do some work or just have a drink while you checked your emails when it's not busy. The screen and sound here are great. Everything else feels so dated and underserved compared to…read morelike a hundred + cinephilie places in the US. On the outside it looks like a temple to movies as you're getting close to it; it's a huge, imposing oval of a building in the middle of the street. But the temple illusion is shattered quickly as to get to the place you have navigate into one of several tunnels with some of the local homeless community and their respective full use of the place as a toilet. This is especially disconcerning if you go to a late showing. Once you get inside, your feeling will shift from slightly tense to slightly underwhelmed. The interior here is kind of like an AMC megaplex from the early 1990's. There's some light celebration of movies going on but it really doesn't appear like some flagship for the BFI, especially given the gravitas they employ on their movie collection video they play before many movies here. Food is also really underwhelming compared to nearly all higher end theaters in the States with full service; I guarantee if you were to visit the first Alamo in Austin that was converted out of a dumpy old 1970's style four theater complex you'd find that experience an order of magnitude better than what you'll get here (and that's before we get into just the attention paid to the love of cinema bv a company like that compared to the vanilla offerings here!) LIke I wrote before, once the movie starts it's very good. If you have a BFI membership like I do and can access the VIP seating, they definitely have more legroom than anywhere else I've been in the country. But overall experience is just deeply underwhelming and they should really overhaul this whole place to truly immerse people in the love of film - even the Everyman chain in London does a way better job of this than this location does.

This is…read morethe closest cinema to my place of residence, and it is very easily accessible via bus, tube, foot, hoverboard, roller skates, although I can't vouch for parking, as I clearly don't have to park my hoverboard. Regardless! Movies are £11.50 for standard seating and I believe £13 for VIP. I don't know that splurging for the VIP seats is necessary here as the standard seats are quite roomy, comfy, and have tons of leg room. I'd plopped my bag, coat and scarf in front of my seat, still had plenty of leg room, and people could easily pass by. There don't appear to be any "XTREME" screens, so you'll have to go to a larger Vue if that's what you're after. The seating and floor were clean, they had a Ben and Jerry's, and I got to see the new Bond well before my American buddies back home. I couldn't really ask for more.

Noted for it's spacious couch seating, waiters to bring you the snacks you ordered, and a little table to keep it all on, it is a little more expensive than other cinemas, but you get your money's worth. I have been to other Everyman cinemas and enjoyed the VIP treatment, but in this instance, I found my seat very hard to get comfortable in. It wasn't too hard, but it was so high off the ground that it was impossible for me to get comfortable. It might work for someone 6ft tall but for me, it just wasn't working. I would recommend not sitting in the front, I think there might be better elsewhere in the room.

I'm so happy about Everyman opened in Selfridges…read more Came here for an one-off showing of Mary Poppins on Christmas eve, the film I loved for many years but first time seeing it on a big screen. It was delightful. Later saw Paddington Bear here too. The seats are very comfortable, especially the soft leather sofa. Unlike some other cinemas it's kept very clean. You can also purchase adult drinks at the bar to take into the studios.
