Prior to eating here, my dad joked that a Chinese roast chicken was probably better. Louise has a Michelin star and has the setting to match. Unfortunately it was a bit too warm and humid to sit outside, which would have been lovely. We ordered a few dishes, including their famous chicken. The hamachi crude was fantastic, as was the pate en croute. If it had been just these two dishes, I would have given Louise five stars. However, their famous chicken missed the mark. They make quite a show of it, bringing a whole chicken to your table so that you can take pics, before serving. I am convinced that the chicken they showed was not the same one that was served as it did not have any aroma wafting from it. I think they brought it out to show the table next to us as well. The chicken was ok. The skin wasn't as glorious as a Chinese roast chicken and the meat not as tasty. The fried rice had bits of chicken skin in it, which unfortunately tasted overcooked, thus marring the flavor of the rice. I knew it was bad when I was eager to take more romaine lettuce salad, instead of more fried rice. Service is top notch. Roast chicken is totally overrated.

The bread and butter in the beginning was a bar setter cus everything that comes after is even better than that. If you order the chicken, be prepared to wait for a long time as we have waited 1.5 hours from the time we order. We were getting a bit hangry but luckily we weren't in a rush. Food: 4 stars Environment/service: 4 stars Value: 3 stars Recommendations: organic vegetables, white clam linguini The pasta here is what to get and in my opinion is better than the pizza. The pizza is cooked in a cast iron pan, which gives you a nice crispy crust. I prefer the wood fire oven cooling style and a more chewy crust. The pricing is on the high side but is in line with Hong Kong. I would expect to pay between 200-250 hkd per person. If ordering the more high end proteins then it will be more.

I passed by this place several times and it as usually always full. Today I thought I have to give it a try. The staff is very friendly, only one table was free and I had no problem getting the table. The menu is relatively condensed- but I personally like this as this makes sure your not getting some old left overs. But the staff should be more knowledgeable on they have on the menu. Especially when you have dishes of the day. I asked the waiter what the soup de jour is and he said - pumpkin soup. So I decided to take the onion soup. 2 minutes later the guests at the left table asked the same question and another waiter said cauliflower soup. Maybe it's not the soup of the day - it's the soup the hour - and the hour moved on. As a starter they Server a small hot baguette - I have to say very nice taste and texture. The onion soup arrived very fast. Nothing to be remembered. A watery soup with a slide bitter taste and chewy cheese on top. The main dish were mussels, they could have been the star of the evening but the quality was to mixed. I had the 500 g portion. First all the good things about them: 0 empty shell - not like in other places where they cheat you with 500 g or more but a lot of the shells are empty. The taste of the majority of the mussels was great. The mussels itself and the soup they were made in. Very balanced. Now the but: Quite a lot of the mussels were not cleaned well, they were sandy. I would also explain etc that the kitchen would take out all closed mussels - I had 7 closed once. Now that the real star of the evening: The mouse au chocolate - great taste, very fluffy and light. I think I need another visit to see if the less optimal areas were normal or just a human error.

After a long day of walking and exploring HK,…read moreand from exploring the SOHO area we decided to try something different beside the regular Hong Kong food or restaurant and decided to try something different. We went with French and it was not a bad decision, it was a great choice! Restaurant was not too big but there were tables available during our dinner time and we did not have to wait in line or book prior to being seated. There are plenty of option for dinner but I forgot what they were and did not take picture of the menu. We had a complimentary toasted bread and butter. We then ordered a plate of Escargot to share, I ordered a Ribeye with fries and a Kronenbourg 1664 Beer. The escargot was very delicious or probably I was very hungry, but definitely the taste of it was great and there was the buttery oil coming out of it that made it that much more good. The ribeye was epic paired with the butter sauce I got and it was very tender and very satisfying for my appetite. The fries were perfect as well not soggy or too salty and just right for fries. The beer? Well that was great as well, who wouldn't enjoy a beer paired with a nice dinner?! By the time I finished eating and drinking, I was very full indeed and this was a perfect dinner! Location: around the SOHO area and there are many different types of restaurant as well, but you wouldn't go wrong with Bouchon. Service was very good, order was fast and food came out pretty quick as well. Clean and atmosphere was very nice, there are high tables and also regular tables for seating and a small bar as well. Overall, if I was looking for a nice little dinner and French dinner this would be the place! Price wise was not too bad but have to thank my cousin for that, with much appreciation! Dinner was just plain awesome! And your appetite will definitely be fulfilled and your gonna have a good night sleep after eating at Bouchon Bistro Francais!

Food: 4.75 stars Service: 5 stars Environment: 4.25 stars Overall: 4.5 stars Recommendations: pigs head terrine, cheese course (ice cream), cod, grilled salad, Apple tart I came here for lunch and there are three menu options: 1) three course lunch 2) short tasting menu 3) full tasting menu. We had the three course lunch menu which is 290 hkd pax. At the recommendation of the staff I added the cheese course which is actually a cheese ice cream. 1) pumpkin - the first item that came out was an amuse bouche. A power punch of a bite where the pumpkin really shines through. 2) Soda bread- This tastes quite like a muffin. The bread is made fresh in house daily. The butternut is paired with is really high quality and had to use some self control not to eat all of it. 3) Grilled salad (Recommend) - This dish is really tasty. The vegetables are sourced locally and you can really taste the freshness. There is an option to add shaved truffle here. We didn't and didn't regret it as the truffle flavor is usually really strong and j think would over power the veggies. 4) Pigs head terrine (Recommend) - I'm typically not a fan of terrines and cold preparations of meat dishes in general. However, this dish is really flavorful and the pork has a real depth to it. The pork flavor is real strong so if you don't like gamey meat this might not be for you but I really enjoyed it. The brioche it was paired with was also really nice. Crafted in a cinnamon roll type of shape you get some nice textural component from the bread which helps offset the texture of the meat. 5) Cod (Recommend) - The fish was cooked perfectly. Really refined dish which clearly showcases the fish. 6) Duck - The Duck is prepared two ways. One as a seared duck breast with skin on and the other as a the meat component to a purée. The breast was slightly tough but overall I still enjoyed it. The sauce it came with was very good. The purée was slightly too rich for me but it was tasty. If it was a larger portion it would have been to much. 7) Cheese course (Recommended) - At first blush the description of the dish doesn't sound appealing, but this is definitely worth a try. It was my favorite dish of the night. The cheese ice cream uses cheese sourced from the UK. Cheese flavor is subtle and not too overpowering. The sweetness from the raspberry sauce on the bottom was a nice balance to the dish. 8) Apple tart- The apple tart was nice and delicate. The juniper ice cream was an interesting pairing which gave some earthy notes to the dish. Really good and would definitely order again. 9) Stout ice cream - Like the name implies the ice cream has a sour beer taste to it. Definitely not for everyone but if you like that taste you will enjoy this because the beer flavor comes through. The ice cream is paired with burnt milk crisps which I thought were the star of the dish. I really enjoyed my meal here. The food is great and the service was good. The staff understood the menu and were able to help guide my food selection, which really enhanced the experience. I definitely would come back and try the tasting menu sometime.

A few places I've been in Asia usually aren't willing to cook a steak or anything else for that matter, than medium. While I was afraid that it would be the case here I was glad to hear my call for medium rare, then just 'rare' was taken without a blink. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender, moist and even though they brought out a few sauces but honestly they're not needed. While steak is obviously the centerpiece of a good steak house, the sides shouldn't be neglected. The creamed spinach was really good. I'd definitely recommend it and I usually don't like creamed vegetables.
