OMG, I could not let this horrible review stand alone. Let me first state that I am also a female physician, a retired anesthesiologist, so I like to think I do have a more "insider" opinion. I have been with Dr. Arcand since she left her previous group practice. The ONLY complaint I have ever had with her is that her scheduling becomes cramped around school holidays as she is a young mother with far away family in Canada that she visits on school holidays. It also took me awhile to get used to the new idea of hospitalists, that hospitals now employ internists to care for you in the hospital to free up your family doctor to care for their other patients. Dr. Arcand doesn't round on her patients who are inpatients at the area hospitals. But, this is the wave of the future, she is in the majority here. She gets a full report from your hospital stay.
What I most like about Dr Arcand is her ability to think on her feet, to combine your many problems into a good treatment program that she can explain to you. I like that she will listen to your ideas no matter where you found them on the Internet. I like that in a crisis, she can get you on the cath lab table if need be in 2 hours. She keeps up to date, sometimes more than even the Mayo docs in Jacksonville, or the Cleveland Clinic folks down south. I suffer from a genetic disorder that is common, but doesn't cause problems all that often, when it does, it is deadly, painful, and serious. She has been a shoulder to cry on, someone to help me wean off serious narcotics that were more exacerbating than helping things, she LISTENS at each visit to each complaint, which to me is so important because many mornings I have so much pain I don't want to face the day.
As for her staff, I have never been treated with anything but respect. Like any doctor's office, they fall behind, I bring a book. When I leave voice mail, they promptly return it. The specialists she has sent me to have all been at least competent, some have been awesome.
I gave 5 stars as a fellow physician.... read more
