Their Terrace Grill has excellent, farm fresh food. They try and use the resources they have on the ranch including their own beef cattle, and fruits and vegetables. I've never had anything bad at their restaurant. The actual Ranch, including the guest cabins and other facilities are also amazing. They have a pool and Guadalupe River access also if that's your thing. If you want a quiet, relaxing getaway, this is the place to go.

Well I hear this guy from the black truck and I don't know who he's talking to. I don't know if he's talking to his friend or what he's not saying hey lady with the small yellow dog yeah you I'm talking to you or anything he's just saying I can hear him saying do you see that big black dog? Do you see that big black dog and I think he's talking to his friend he's not saying calling me out and I'm walking my little 26 pound blonde dog then all of a sudden big black 80 pound German Shepherd comes running over to us and I'm having a heart attack practically because my dog is 26 pounds and I'm on leash and the big black German Shepherd is not on leash later the man said well he was on a shot collar leash shovel cycle if he was on a shock collar leash how come you weren't using it when he was running over to us we were minding our business going to the bathroom and your dogs running over to us and he said well it's a Service Dog so well again if he's a Service Dog and he's got a shock collar leash how come you weren't using it and telling him to stay and sit or do whatever to stay the hell away from us?Coffeemaker did not have a lid for the pot so the coffee just collected at the top where the coffee filter was, and I had to pour into the pot from the sink.

I think much of it has to do with what your expectations are when staying here. The hotel is retro western and reminds me of the days of Route 66 themed motels and roadside attractions. The lobby is a large room filled with taxidermy and old western artifacts like cattle brands, peacemakers, Remington style sculptures, etc. The attendants at the front desk were friendly and helped us get squared away with little fuss. We went to our first room and after walking in, we immediately turned back to the lobby to change rooms. The first room faced the parking lot, had some stains on the curtains, and overall didn't feel like a winner. Thankfully, they had a room facing the pool available and the interior was much nicer/cleaner. The room came with a balcony that overlooked the pool that ended up being a nice spot for late night chats with the mild weather we had. I'd strongly suggest getting the pool view because it was night and day from the outer perimeter room we started with. The floors of the hotel rooms are saltillo tiles, and from someone who has lived in many a saltillo tiled homes, keep your shoes on. It's so hard to clean the grout and tiles perfectly, and I'm sure the maids aren't on their hands and knees steaming and scrubbing between stays. Beyond the tile, the bathroom was clean, water pressure was fine. Bedding and furniture was clean. No big complaints. The restaurant was closed for renovations during our stay, which was a bummer. The bar was also closed during our stay because we came on Monday and left Wednesday morning. The bar's schedule is open every day except Monday and Tuesday. We used the pool while staying there and it was fine for sunbathing and a quick dip. The hot tub was closed for maintenance, but it was too hot out for using it anyhow. Long review short, if you like hotels with character, then you should have a fun stay. I'd say the YO is perfect for someone looking for a cheap stay (we paid $220 total for 2 nights) that doesn't mind tile floors, kitschy decor, and rooms with a little age. It's way more interesting than The Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express!

I called and purchased tickets for the buffet with no problem. Later, I went to their web page, and learned about all their wonderful amenities and activities, and we decided to book an overnight stay. Boy, were we glad we did! It was everything we could have wanted. We stayed in one of their "hotel" rooms at the Wynne/Flato Lodge. The granddaughter would probably say that we didn't have everything -- There was no TV in our room, and no cell reception. BUT, we did have a great internet connection. Once you're settled in, you won't miss TV or phones. In fact, I think it is a blessing that allows you to use your brain and think about what you'd like to DO. At night, there was a hayride up the hill to a fire pit, supplied with fixin's for s'mores, hot chocolate and hot cider. Yes! After the hayride, we went back to the Registration building to watch a family movie, "Beauty and The Beast." Someone even came to bring us popcorn! There are also board games in this area. This same building houses a library and gift shop on the upper level, and art classrooms on the lower level, back side. The next morning, we had breakfast - basic, but very doable, with hot food, a hot bar: oatmeal, gravy & biscuits; and a cold bar: yogurt, fruit, etc., along with the required coffee. Next, the granddaughter went zip lining and rode The Big Gulp (yeah, you'll have to check this out); later, we went back to the Registration building for a painting class and a trip through the gift shop for Christmas gifts. What a great trip! We can't wait to go back! You gotta do MO!!

The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was the cabins. There were big cockroaches in our room, and it smelled old and damp. I understand that it might be because the accommodations are in a rural area; however, it was still unpleasant to find so many cockroaches inside our room.
