Beautiful event center with friendly staff!…read more My company recently held the El Monte job fair at the Grace T. Black Auditorium and it was a great turnout with over 2,000 people who arrived. The auditorium accompanied all our job seekers and employers. We had a lot of indoor space although it reached max capacity pretty quickly. There was a very nice outdoor patio with clean restrooms nearby, a cafeteria room where we set up our food and refreshments, and another two rooms we used for computer access and resume critique. There was plenty of parking behind the auditorium but access to that parking area seemed a bit tricky. I would highly recommend this auditorium for weddings, and special events with a max of 500 people. Anything over that number and there might be some problems fitting everyone inside. The courtyard and outdoor patio area was a nice addition which provided ample shade and covering.

You must join but the annual fee is reasonable. They have two major events and these help hem be low cost to the community. But due to work, I have only been able to take a few classes throughout the years. But I do love the variety of classes that they offer and how constant their schedule is. If you are looking for a Japanese school for your child to attend, they offer that. If you would like to just learn more about the community through the different cultural classes, just sign up for the emails and you can be alerted for upcoming classes that they offer. I've taken amigurumi (crochet), ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), and a cooking class. All of the instructors are great and mostly volunteers. So it just shows you what a great community there is. They have festivals through the year and also help put on the West Covina Cherry Blossom Festival. They also host the West Covina obon at the center but it is organized by the Buddhist church which is based out of the community center. So there is just a lot of activities that you can get involved with.

The staff are condescending. It's loud from children talking and dogs barking. I've gone to this library twice now and was not happy with either visit. Although the space looks like it has a lot of tables, there are very few with outlets to plug a laptop into. The first time I came, I was able to find only one available table with an outlet because I came shortly after they opened. That time and this time, the library was extremely loud. There were so many children running around and screaming. This time, there was even a dog barking and running around too. I just went to the library again today and was not able to find a single available table to sit at. The only empty seats were where the computers were. Only a couple of the computers were being used, which left 6 empty spots. I didn't really want to sit there since I already had my own laptop, but it was the only open table. I shifted the keyboard to the side and made do with the small space. Since there were plenty of computers still available next to me, I didn't think it would be a problem to sit there. Boy was I wrong. A woman with glasses approached me maybe 15 minutes after I sat down and told me that those spots were meant for people who were going to use their computers. When I told her that there were no more tables and that there were plenty of available seats still next to me, she condescendingly told me that I'm the one to ever argue with her because everyone else usually just moves. I told her that I would move if someone needed the computer. She again said I had to move then walked away without another word. Since there were no other available spots to sit at, I had to leave the library. This woman was not just condescending to me by the way. Right when I first sat down, the same woman was speaking to a man by the printers. The way she was speaking to him was equally condescending. I didn't want to listen in on their conversation, but her tone was really mean and obnoxious as she told him he was wrong about something. She was speaking to him in a way that felt like she was absolutely looking down on him. I hope upper management has a word with her about her customer service skills because they are terrible. My last note is about the temperature of the library. It's really hot outside, so I thought it would be nice to study where there's an A/C. Although it was slightly cooler than outside, it was still pretty warm in there. It did not feel that much more comfortable than studying outside. I don't think it was warm just because there were a lot of people because it was equally warm the first time I went too(right when they opened).

[This is not to be mistaken with Los Angeles (city) Public Library.] There is plenty of parking that can be accessed from Muscatel Ave. There are a lot of charging stations for electric vehicles. There is a QR code to scan to pay PowerFlex. The book drop boxes are also in the parking lot. This library is closed Sundays and Mondays. Overall the library is very clean, not cluttered. I think this is because they don't overcrowd the library with too many shelves. There are bathrooms, water fountains with a refill station, and a conference room in the lobby. Beside the kids section, there is the teen section, some computers, and tables scattered around. There is separate area called the Asian Pacific Resource Center. There are more books, prints, and audio resources.

The process was very smooth and organized as employees, beginning with the uniformed security guard, provided very clear instructions on what to do. All of the employees I had contact with were very helpful and friendly. The wait in line was approximately 30 minutes, as there were 25+ people ahead of me. Once inside, I received a copy of my birth certificate within two minutes. Service was VERY efficient. The cost to receive a copy of my birth certificate was $34.00, plus a $1.75 fee for paying by debit card. Tip: There is a free parking lot to the rear of the location. Tip 2-This is one of a limited number of offices to assist you if you need a copy of your birth certificate, marriage certificate, or death certificate, as long as your incident occurred in LA County.

There are costume contests for age groups and even dogs. Vendors are there, a few good trucks, and some nice photo ops. There's also a movie being projected and a Halloween maze. I believe see can vote for the best decorated trunk. Some were pretty awesome. The kids love it! And we feel safer with the treats that are passed out to the children. Note that you should be there early so you don't have to wait in line for too long. However, the line goes fairly constant. Only stalling when there are photos taken. Will be back again next year, and will try to make it to the Alhambra one too.
