I've been coming here for years now, for whenever I need to rest and recharge. The grounds and lodge are well managed and beautiful. It's a wonderful place to reflect and find peace. Suzanne, the current director, is doing a lot of great work to make sure this wonderful retreat center stays amazing and is welcoming to people of all backgrounds and beliefs. The food is sourced locally and always amazing. You'll likely try something new that you didn't even know you would love. Even amidst the pandemic, my experience was magical. He led me to ARC Retreat and from the moment I arrived there was a sweet serenity within. I have repeatedly scheduled retreats at ARC over the last 30 years. Each time I come away restored and refreshed. This last visit was especially soothing to my soul... after a year of pandemic restrictions, it was such a joy to walk in the woods and have someone else do the cooking! You can't beat their freshly baked bread! The staff is always gently attentive to any needs I might have and their welcome truly makes you feel like you've "come home". I just returned from a second time at this fabulous, hidden gem. The first time I stayed by myself in the Cottage for much-needed alone time. This time, my sister and a favorite cousin stayed in the Lodge for a home-grown Ladies Retreat. We were treated with such love and care, beginning with our check-in, including every meal served with sweet notes that contained the menu, ending with our unofficial check-out, and every interaction in between. You can have as much or as little interaction as you want, but I highly recommend at least some, because the staff there truly have a heart for their guests. read more

I've been going to ARC for many years for mini retreats. The space is so lovely. I've stayed in the Cottage as well as the Lodge. The Cottage is spacious, beautifully decorated, and comfy--with a beautiful huge window looking out into the forest. There is a labyrinth outside and guests can use the quiet rooms in the lodge. The staff are lovely, warm and accommodating--lol, I forgot to bring any sweets, so asked if they had anything and they responded right away with some lovely treats. I highly recommend ARC for folks wanting a bit of a spiritual rest for themselves near the Twin Cities. read more

I had not taken a retreat at ARC for a number of years, and finally returned for a 2 night stay last week. It was even more wonderful than I had remembered. The woods, water, animals, birds - all of nature were very grounding for me. The friendly, comassionate staff and volunteers, the delicious nutritious meals, the accomodations, and so much more made for a rejuvinating, renewing, spiritually uplifting, restful and peaceful experience. I had no idea a place like this existed so close to home! My husband and I enjoyed an amazing kid-free weekend hiking in the woods, watching a doe and her fawn strolling around at daybreak, lounging by the fire, and eating your healthy meals. A wonderful retreat. I went for focused, quiet time to revise a lengthy piece of writing, and I made terrific progress thanks to the peace, solitude, and beautiful surroundings. Amenities are great, and I loved the healthy vegetarian food and supportive, thoughtful staff. The cost was very reasonable for a room in a beautiful lodge and being served three meals a day! The weekend was totally awesome! The staff was very professional, The grounds are well-kept, And the children had a ball playing and enjoying the natural surroundings. This was our first weekend retreat of the sort at this location it was a great fit and we can't wait to do it again.
