After going over my medical history, I was asked about my goals and expectations. The therapist asked and listened and we became a team. The therapists were very knowledgeable and took the time to make sure that I understood the purpose of each exercise and demonstrated the correct form. I was also given written strategies to continue the work at home, in between visits. The lab area is well maintained and has a variety of fitness machines and medical devices. You always expect that, at a minimum, your healthcare professional will be competent and careful. Dr. Annie's office meets and then exceeds this standard because they are also encouraging, creative and kind. I highly recommend.

Since that scary time in my life, I've now made them my place of choice for various physical therapy needs. I've never been disappointed regardless of which therapist I've been assigned. I've recommended THIS specific Select Physical Therapy to several people, including family, and they've all be impressed themselves.

The physical therapist that I saw, Hope, discounted what previous doctors and physical therapists…read moretold me. She had me do exercises that flared me up and refused to address the issues that were flared, saying that she didn't believe me. She was insulting and condescending, which is not great for someone doing internal work. I left in tears, tried to email it to address it but she just doubled down and told me to go elsewhere despite not giving me a recommendation. I think there isn't anyone else who takes my insurance that I can physically drive to, especially after she flared me. So essentially, she traumatized.me mentally and physically. And doesn't care. And I have no way to fix the physical part.

First, they tried to ignore severe pain and muscle spams due to nerve damage in my hip that…read moreoccurred during my knee replacement surgery as "a little soreness after surgery." I had to force the issue of effectively treating the situation and it still took them 10 days before they bothered to do the correct treatment that should have been done on postop day 2. This borders on malpractice. Secondly, when I was asked, I told them that I expected to be walking without a cane after surgery. I had been forced to use a cane for about 5-6 years prior to surgery due to safety concerns and the need to preserve what I could of being able to use the knee. My expectation of being able to walk normally was completely ignored. Instead, when I tried to walk without the cane, I was told to keep using the cane. This continued throughout my entire time in rehab. Somehow they thought that using the cane was going to help me be able to walk without it. Even I don't think that's right!! This means that I couldn't really walk when they decided to dismiss me from their care. They didn't care about getting to the correct place; all they cared about was that I could stand and waddle around a little with the cane. That is not good rehabilitation. It is coming up on a year since my surgery and I still cannot walk normally because they never appropriately addressed the problems in my hips that were caused by the use of the cane. Basically they expected me to figure it out on my own. I am going to have to go to a different doctor (not one who is part owner of this facility) and a different PT place in order to get proper medical care. I find that disgusting. I will never recommend this PT facility to anyone. At this point I am unsure if I will ever be able to return to my sport. They do not care about performance. Do they even know what that word means? They only care about money.

Angie was the one who actually advised me that surgery was probably the best option before that as physical therapy was no longer giving relief. The surgery went great and subsequent therapy with her gave me complete mobility back pain free. Shoulder surgery is a lengthy recovery process but all our work and her help paid off. I just had a total knee replacement on June 25, 2020 and Angie was my PT of choice. I just went to my 6 week check in with my doctor and he was impressed by my progress and gave me a clean bill of health and to come back in a year. Angie Cain is a very positive, uplifting, knowledgeable therapist. She customizes all therapy to your needs and provides homework that really enhances the healing process. Regaining mobility is the priority with her. PT is a two way street and if you want to be successful, you have to be engaged. Angie makes you want to be engaged and her chair side manner pays off in the end. I am just shy of 67 years old and I hope if I have any more parts replaced that she will be my go to. Thank you, Angie.

There are times in your life when you go to a place without much expectation, and walk away with a…read morepositive experience you will never forget. I was in a situation where I thought I would need surgery and having physical therapy was the last gasp effort for that not to happen. I'd already been to a chiropractor that had been as useful as a chocolate fireguard so my faith was pretty low. Even after my first visit I was sold on what Brenda could do for me and that it would actually help. I was given straight forward explanations on my condition and a medical common sense approach. Throughout the few months I spent going to physical therapy I actually got better so it is safe to say that I bought into the coffee that Brenda was selling. (Not the decaf though, that would suck). At the moment I feel great and am 99.9% sure surgery isn't in my future. Now don't get me wrong, you don't go there for an hour and come out feeling like Superman, working through an injury is hard work. Also, if you don't do your exercises at home, it isn't going to work. I did get to the point where I actually enjoyed going to physical therapy, the team is really polite, have a great sense of humor and genuinely want to help you get better. Thank you! :-)

I showed up a bit early and Sydney (my Occupational Therapist) was already there expecting me. She was very patient and helpful in finding the right one for me at the lowest possible cost. She also made sure I knew how to take the splint off. She also took time to explain how my injury was healing, so that I knew why I had to have the splint on 100% of the time over the next few weeks. The benefits coordinator (?) Sarah was also great, she had to stay on the phone with the insurance company while helping another patient check in as she came in. No one wishes to have to have PT or OT, but if you do, then SERC is the place to ensure a positive experience for you.

I was disappointed with my experience at Marquette PT in Leawood. My orthopedic surgeon at KCOI…read moregave me specific activity restrictions, but instead of respecting those restrictions or contacting my doctor for clarification, the therapist argued with me about them. As a patient, I don't think I should be put in the middle of a disagreement between my physician and my therapist. Another concern was the lack of consistency in my care. I was treated by different therapists, and each seemed to have different opinions, different treatment plans, and different exercise recommendations. It was confusing and made it difficult to feel confident that everyone was working toward the same goals. I wasn't told when I scheduled I wouldn't just be with one therapist. In my past with different clinics I had always been seen by the same physical therapist throughout. The gold standard of care. I expected better communication, coordination, and respect for my care and physician's instructions. Patients benefit most when their healthcare providers work together rather than giving conflicting advice. I spoke with the owner and it seems they may be short on therapists and overbooked.

The care and treatment I received from the Physical therapist as well as the office manager was above exceptional. The exercises taught in office and then done at home were successful in getting both shoulder and knee back to full use with in the 6 to 8 week treatment time . I feel that both are stronger then they were even pre surgery. .I was taught exercises to help stretch and strengthen the areas and feel they are easy to do at home which has allowed me to return to playing pickleball which was the goal.
