I had a fantastic experience with Marc. I really found it was time to get some professional headshots, mostly for my social media and online business profiles. From start to finish Marc was incredibly professional, advising on location, lighting, wardrobe, etc. On the day of the shoot he made me feel relaxed and the photos came out amazing. He must have taken around 100 shots, all of them equally as good making selecting the final ones to use hard. Not the best customer service. In a profession where you are working directly with the client and your name is your business you would expect Marc to be more attentive. He can take great photos, however I will say this, when it comes to your special day or capturing your families special moments do you want someone who is genuinely excited to capture those moments for you or someone who is just performing a task. Basically I will just say this I didn't feel that he was excited to do his job or work with people. I suggest he stick to taking photos of stationary landscapes or stills because when it comes to working with people in formulating a product that you to will love, Marc is not your guy. I'm an amateur photographer and know that the images and people I capture all share a story to which when I shoot I must take the time to read and capture. Marc doesn't seem to convey that to me. We got the deal on Living Social too and were excited to do an outdoor family photo shoot as most of his photos depicted. However, when I spoke to him over the phone he was leaning us toward an indoor shoot even though we wanted something outdoors. Since we didn't want the deal to go to waste we opted for the indoor shoot. When we arrived, he was behind the computer and didn't greet us kindly but rather was quite rude. When he asked what we wanted we told him we wanted to do a more relaxed, fun, candid shoot; however, he kept posing us. He eventually did try to make us comfortable, and did little things to make it fun for our son [so with that, I appreciate his effort]. He asked us to return to review the proofs; and after seeing the photos, he handed us a rate sheet for photo/package options. I was shocked at how much he was charging for the type of quality that we got. Also, we found it strange that we couldn't see or order any of the proofs we saw online; he said, our only chance to order was then and there. I thought that was too much pressure to buy something on the spot. Overall, we weren't too impressed with what we thought was a good deal. read more

My wife and 3 kids have had the pleasure to be photographed by Marc at least 4 separate times now over the past 2 years. We've shot family pics, pregnancy pics, and newborn pics....in-studio and on location in a park and beach. He's a very professional photographer who takes his time to get the right shots. There are plenty of photographers out there that can take nice pictures but it's truly a gift to be able to capture a moment, to correctly frame a shot, to have a vision of what the image should be before taking it. We've used numerous photographers in the past with varying results; I have to say that Marc is at the very top of the list! Marc is wonderful and patient with my young daughters.... being goofy, getting them to smile, offering them a surprise to be good, even turning on a movie so Mommy and Daddy could get some picture time. My newborn cried and cried for 2 studio sessions but Marc was very patient and tried everything to help sooth my little man. Sorry he pee'd on your stuff :) You can hire a photographer who knows how to use his gear or hire an artist who knows his gear and creates an amazing image. Marc is an artist, a professional, and a fun guy. There are numerous detrimental reviews towards Marc here on Yelp, all regarding some Groupon type deal. I actually met Marc through a promotional coupon and was very happy with my initial experience! For some reason Yelp has filtered the majority of his 5 star reviews. If you are going to buy a special coupon, read the fine print and expect to get the amount of work represented on the coupon.......a few hundred bucks is not going to get you far with a great photographer. On the other hand, if you want truly great art you have to pay for it. I'm not saying Marc is expensive.....what I'm saying is that you get what you pay for! If you want awesome pictures taken by a very talented guy, choose Marc. You're paying for a photographers time and artistic ability, otherwise you would just go to Sears and have them take snaps of you......get it?! I continue to go back to Marc because he's a great artist who captures a moment, an emotion, an unforgettable image. He is very professional yet also a laid back likable guy. I really never understand why people have so many issues with photographers, it's not easy, the gear is seriously expensive, their time = money, they have studio rent, and their artistic skill is priceless! I also was introduced to Marc through the LivingSocial coupon. Even though he was pretty busy with appointments, I was able to get a convenient appointment time. Marc also was very helpful and gracious considering I had let my coupon lapse and I needed to reschedule. The studio experience was very relaxed and unrushed. Marc worked very well with my two daughters (aged 12 and 6). He was able to focus my younger daughter and was really welcoming with my older daughter - helping to encourage her and bring her personality out. I've worked with a number of artists and photographers and found them to be just like anyone else - you'll get those that are temperamental and particular and those that are nice to work with. I found Marc to be the latter. He was able to assert his artistic view without being overbearing and was patient to allow it to happen, but did so in a manner where we were making joint decisions. But, then again, I also am usually a nice and easy going person (note to fellow Yelpers - you sometimes get as good as you give). I ended up buying an additional package. Marc gave me the info and didn't hassle me about a decision. The pricing was "that day only" type of discounts which is usual. The pricing was competitive and my girls came up with some additional poses that I really wanted to get as gifts for my family. So it all worked out nicely. Marc Weisberg is an amazing, professional photographer. I took two groups of four high school students to get head shots taken. Which meant I spent about eight hours in Marc comfortable studio. He greeted everyone politely when we arrived on both the days. I brought into the studio two different groups of male and female 15-18 year olds. All the students loved working with Marc on their headshot photo shoots. The students told me any photographer couldn't be better to work with on a photo shoot then Marc. He was very patience, calm and encouraging with each student and the vast assortment of their personalities. I could tell he is a professional photographer and truly knows an abundance about photography. All the parents have told me they are thrilled at the pictures. He does awesome head shots! He was very helpful with everything from working with students on their choices of clothes and colors to wear, offering to use his steamer to get winkles out of clothes and suggesting various poses for students to try. Their high school drama teacher said, the pictures are extremely high quality for headshot, capturing and showing each student at there best representation, like head shots should be. I was fascinated simply watching for two days the process with each student as they would be photographed, then change clothes to have Marc work with them again taking numerous pictures. He never rushed any of them and was amazing talking with them treating them like mature adults, which they enjoyed so much. I plan to have Marc Weisberg work his creative photography talents taking a family portrait, which at least two other families of these students want to do. He doesn't just take pictures he makes works of art! He's the nicest person, very respectful, down to earth, sincere and caring about each one of these eight clients. Everything was super positive and fun on both days. Marc made it so easy for myself, as I oversaw these eight students getting head shots that came out unbelievably, amazing. His level of photographic ability is extremely high. He's a natural at capturing people to show the person they truly are in the most attractive looking manner. What a pleasure dealing with him is...do it and get pictures to treasure for a lifetime. Well here's one more terrible review to add to the list that already exists about Marc Weisberg. I left a message to book an appointment and didn't receive a return call for about 4-5 days, so I called again. First contact over the phone just to book the appointment was off putting. He was cold, rude and inflexible, even though the terms clearly stated I had the choice of an outdoor or studio session, he could only offer me one day outdoors and if we couldn't make that date and time, then we could do a studio session only, and even once I agreed to that, seeing as how I had no choice, I had one choice of date and time again. I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking he must just be busy. I arrive for the session and he is going to be shooting my kids and he is again cold and makes it very clear that he is there providing his time and nothing else. This guy has NO people skills whatsoever!! He made little effort to make it comfortable or get to know my kids so that they would feel comfortable enough at the ages of 2 and 4 to sit completely still so he could get a good shot. His two attempts(and yes I'm serious when I say two!) to get my kids to interact and loosen up with him were, "Hey guys do you want to meet my dog...ruff ruff, that's the dog in my tummy." Literally, dry as a bone, that's what he said. His next lame attempt, was, "Do you want to meet my pink dinosaur?" He obviously didn't have a pink dinosaur, nor did he have anything going for him in providing a good, fun or even professional family photo experience. From start to finish, Marc Weisberg Photography is just BAD business. I found not one redeeming quality, until after I left the session extremely unsatisfied as a paying customer for a product (which even if I did receive, I frankly didn't want to look at for the rest of my life and think about this experience every time I did) I was about to pull away, he walked up to my car and offered a refund, which I accepted. He hastily returned to his studio and I counted the money and he had shorted my refund by $14. So needless to say, that one chance at even an ounce of redemption was shot dead. I have had such wildly different experiences with other photographers that there is just no way I could not post this review. FAMILIES BEWARE! THIS IS NOT A COMFORTABLE SITUATION FOR YOU OR YOUR KIDS! read more

I agree with all the negative reviews I read here. Marc seems to have used his LivingSocial deal in the hopes of getting a lot of upsell. Unfortunately his customer service and pricing ruled this out for us as clients. Hard to schedule but we finally got a date and time so we drove on a hot day to his studio. We were there on time but he was not. We waited, outside in the heat with a newborn and 3 year old, for 10 minutes before calling him. He wasn't even on the way there, but thankfully he lives close by. Before, during, and after the shoot he was rude and off-putting. When we arrived he said we had to pay some "tax" in cash! Not mentioned anywhere we saw and no reciept offered. Maybe to cover his ink and paper costs? Also, the deal said we'd get 4 digital files "perfect for FaceBook and Screensavers," or something. Craftily, it doesn't mention they are very low resolution barely suitable for FaceBook posting. You only find this out when you are there. This was the MAIN reason we bought the deal. Guess what? Full-resolution JPEG would also be perfect, and I feel he knows that is what people expect to get when they are told digital prints from a photographer and are not told a specific resolution or that they are "low resolution". I mean, come on, my screen has 1900 pixels horizontal resolution, not 640 or so. This isn't 1992. He makes you use a site to review and select your picture and files. The instructions he provides are confusing and you only have a little time to use it and select them before it "expires" and then he says you have to pay to reactivate it. He offered us an exception to the reactivation fee, so one star for that, but minus one star for having the policy and poor instructions in the first place, so that's a wash. The only reason it even merits two stars is because he did spend a lot of time to get good shots, definitely more than the 1 hour promised, but this was because he liked the work product and at the end said "That was the best 'baby-in-basket' session I have ever done. I may want to use these for advertising." Unfortunately we already had such a bad taste in our mouth that we just took our included prints and digital files and called it a wash. It's not that we are unwilling to pay for good product and service out of a deal. See my other review if you want a good local photographer with whom I committed to spending almost $1000 total who I originally hooked up with via a deal site. Oh, and I can't wait to see Marc reply to my review. I am a little shocked at his replies to other negative reviews. In his credit a number of good (and one bad) review are filtered for him on Yelp as of the date of this review posting. *** REVISIONS TO REVIEW IN REPLY TO OWNER RESPONSE *** It was hot enough in the sun I didn't want to leave my newborn out in it longer than necessary, and we were never told not to expect the photographer to be there for a scheduled appointment. WEAK! My car has air conditioning and I wish I'd been informed I should sit there and call you to tell you to show up for an appointment. This is basic customer service stuff here, Marc. "800x800 pixels per inch"??? I think you mean "800x800 pixels" and 1:1 aspect ratio would mean they weren't even the full frame of the original. Maybe you mean 800x600? I don't know but I'd expect a professional photographer to know. You are right you didn't use the word "advertising" but you clearly implied you were considering using them. And obviously you market (technically not advertising exactly I suppose) because you had a LivingSocial deal and have a website. That was where we'd assumed you'd put them, or maybe large sample prints like you have all over your studio of work you've done. If you use my shots to get business, I call that advertising with them. The $850 I committed to spending elsewhere included all digital images from all three photo shoots we are doing with Renee. It would have been 4 shoots (maternity as well) but we didn't go in until after the baby was born. And the $850 we get to spend on prints and other goods from our shots, so we still will have prints, but we get to pick exactly what we want rather than your predefined package. In any case, my point was that it wasn't that we were unwilling to spend money on the right photographer. You just weren't that person. Review downgraded from 2 stars to 1 star for added lack of professionalism in the reply and getting all defensive when you were in the wrong in several places and I was in the wrong in one, about the taxes. You still did't give a reciept so I don't know what the taxable amount was to have it coincidentally equal EXACTLY $5. read more

So I too, bought the living social deal and was extremely disappointed. his attitude was not pleasant. very condescending. i'm 27 years old and DO NOT need to be talked to like a 5 year old. i would like to give him the benefit of the doubt that he's not rude, but rude is exactly what it is!! he wasn't friendly and not at all patient with our 14 month old. i've taken her to another photographer and the experience was like night and day. anyhow, the day i went to pick up my pictures i carried my wallet in one hand ready to pay (because i had bought additional poses) and when i went to grab the pictures with my other hand, he lectured me on how to "handle" pictures!! oh the nerve!! again, i'm 27 years old and what the heck made him think that i don't know how to "handle" pictures. he continually stated that i needed to hold the pictures with two hands because if the pictures dent, i won't be able to get the dents out. now mind you, he had a client in the studio at the time and this was going on in front of this lady. how embarrassing!! i never would recommend this guy to anyone. take your money elsewhere!! read more

I feel sorry but I feel that I have to do the review and give 2 stars. I also purchased the deal through LivingSocial (or Groupon, don't remember). 3 pictures (2 8X10, 1 5X7) and 4 digital photos.... sounded very good when I got the deal. What was not disclosed (to me "intentionally hide") was that 3 portraits are only from one same image (**Again never mentioned when we god the deal) and 4 digital pictures are LOW RESOLUTION... unprintable, just ok for sending e-mail, post small photos on FB, etc. AND these digital images even came with his studio's logo on the pics..... basically just Photo Proof quality... really disappointing. **I went back and checked all the details of the deal, none of above was mentioned (even in fine prints) We actually did not get a great first impression from the first phone call, and when we went in the studio (my family felt the same). Some pics came out ok and I could have made additional purchase (which I usually do when I feel that he/she deserves it), however, I felt that we were totally misled and deceived with the deals, I was not willing to give any more business. Then when he finds out that he's not getting additional business $$, it took at least 3 email (I waited a few weeks) from me to finally got confirmation that we would be actually getting the 3 pictures. Again it's hard to give tough reviews like this and I know he has tried during the shoot, however, I strongly feel that this kind of way of doing business will not only help but hurt it, and I hope that he will see that. read more

I will be getting reimbursed because unfortunately many people have had the same claims against this photographer. I also purchased a LivingSocial package for a one-hour shoot. Before the purchase, I looked at his website and was pleased at how many fun, colorful, candid and creative photos of kids he has done. He also has tons of good reviews on other sites. I should have looked at Yelp too, because I am certainly disappointed in the overall experience. The package claimed that Marc Weisberg would provide one hour of shooting at an OC location of my choice. Instead, he offered his studio on Saturdays or one particular OC park on weekday afternoons. He was not willing to shoot in a park on a Saturday. In addition, he did not allow livingsocial voucher holders to book shoots more than 30-days in advance. I tried three times to book at the 30-day mark, only to be told that he was full. **Finally, to his credit, on the third try, he offered to open his studio on a Sunday for us.** Once my family was in his studio (three boys, my husband and I), he had only one backdrop choice available -- white. While we were waiting to get started, he told me to be sure the boys kept their feet off the couches and didn't touch anything. I would have understood the couch concern if they didn't clearly have brand new shoes on, the couches were fabric or otherwise difficult to brush off, or if he didn't sell his business as child-friendly. With all his expensive gear, the request to not touch anything made perfect sense -- can't fault him for that. When ready to start, he asked if I had anything in mind, but that still, posed photos weren't really his style. I told him I just wanted something natural, with us interacting as a family. We tried this for a bit, then he stopped us to say it wasn't working, that we were all looking different directions in every shot (true!). He then commented that we could do something more posed, but that I seem to have come in with an idea in my head of what I wanted and that his style of family portraiture didn't fit into that free-form idea. Really? I then told him that he is the expert and we would follow his guidance. So he posed us after all. After 30 minutes of shooting, my kids were getting pretty restless. The photographer was too. He did not seem interested in changing the situation up a little (beyond putting a stuffed monkey on his camera to get a few more minutes of cooperation) or in taking a break before restarting. Instead, he seemed quite comfortable ending our session. **To be fair, I didn't suggest we take a break because it didn't even occur to me until later. ** This photographer's strength is in his responsiveness to emails and his ability to deliver product when he says he will. He was on-time with everything. He offered to touch up one of the photos for a minimal fee of $50 (which I passed on). The package was for one 8x10 and 2 5x7s -- instead he gave me 2 8x10s and one 5x7. This would be great, except that I had planned to give the 5x7s as gifts and keep the 8x10. I appreciate that he may have been trying to be generous... just wish he had asked first. Overall, this photographer is not easy to work with for families with small children (under 5). I was left feeling we were more of a bother than anything. He certainly didn't charm my children, nor my husband (who is a pretty easygoing guy). In response to some of the other postings, Marc DID meet the photo delivery obligations of the fine print. The only part of the deal that he did not technically fulfill is the "any location in Orange County" part -- though I accepted his location limits without question. No sense in annoying the man behind the camera before even meeting him! I do not recommend Marc Weisberg Photography if you are a discount deal holder. Despite some great looking work on his website, this photographer seems to cater his attitude and attention to the price you have paid. read more

Marc arrived on time (we ran a little late) and immediately knew the best places to pose us (it wasn't his fault that a dog decided to pee on the sidewalk in front of one of his favorite spots ;-) He posed us in multiple positions & locations, some more formal than others -- in the end we were very happy with the results and are looking forward to seeing the prints. read more

I could not be any happier with my choice of photographer for my May wedding. He came recommended by my venue and though I was worried about going a bit over my budget, it was well worth it (I skimped on the flowers instead- photos last longer!). Not only did Marc over deliver on beautiful photos, he was so personal at the wedding. I've been a part of weddings were the photographers was bossy or rude, not Marc! He was able to get everyone involved and laughing. I was prepared to wait a month or so for my photos but Marc had them ready in weeks. So I just spoke with Marc regarding a livingsocial promo going on right now and he was super rude! I had general questions about the promo and specifically wanted to know if he edits all his photos in post-production since his photos on his website looked really nice. The reason I wanted to know this is because some photographers edit their photos for their website only, but the photos you get are crappy. He was so rude and asked me "why do you want to know" and said at the end of the conversation "I don't think I'm the photographer for you". I was not rude in return, just had some simple, basic questions! What a conceited and rude person! I don't care how successful you are at photography Marc, people still deserve respect!! read more

Short and pompous on the phone as soon as I mentioned living social. Why would a biz sign up for LS knowing you'll make little to know $ and be bitter towards ur customers. LS is a form of marketing and an opp to build good will. This dude doesn't get it. He canceled our appt and said go get a refund from LS even tho we both agreed to a shorten session due to us running behind. He wouldn't reschedule. I offered that we will accept a 10min session if need be but he kept cutting me off on the phone. There's a million photographers out there, a few great ones. Marc was pleasant until he found out that I was not going to purchase any additional print, his tone completely changed. He did not edit any of my prints. And to top it all of, I drove all the way from So. LA to meet him at his studio to pick up the photos and he had the date set for a week before the shoot. Hello!!!! I had to get time off and do it doing my lunch hour. What a complete waste of time. I had purchase another living social deal to give to my sister. I ended up contacting living social for a refund. Marc is the best photographer there is. He photographed my wedding back in February of 2006 and when I open my photo album it always makes me feel like I back on that glorious day. He takes so much care in his work and brings out the best in everybody. During my wedding he was every where and did not miss one moment. My photo albums came out spectacular. My husband and I got a large one for our enjoyment, which fits in its own little breif case. Our parent books had the most beautiful photo covers, which our parents have out on display still to this day. He also took our engagement photos in Hollywood which were so great that we blew up two of them to be signed at the wedding. We have the two engagement photos framed along with two wedding photos hanging in our house. He got them framed for us and everything. I had a magnificent wedding over looking the ocean, Marc even took beautiful pictures of us on the sand after our wedding. To top it all off I had purchased these min photo albums for my wedding party and for family who were unable to attend, they were a huge hit. I have been carrying around that mini album in my purse for the last 5 years till my purse was stolen about a month ago. I was so devastated untilled Marc told me he could get me a replacement. Now that I have my mini wedding album back in my purse I feel complete again. All I can say is if you are looking for a photographer, look no further. Marc Weisberg is your only choice. Marc was referred to us by a client of mine and it was one of the best referrals of our wedding. Marc was insanely professional and knew exactly what he was doing with the camera. He also brought one of his good friends, Kevin, to capture our special day. He was unbelievable as well. They worked together as a team and produced so many good pictures and captured every special moment of our wedding. Not only are they professional but they are charismatic and extremely personable. They are the types of people you would want to hang out with and grab a beer! This is very important because you want to feel extremely comfortable in such vulnerable moments. They were able to capture every feeling and heighten every moment with the right angles and beautiful quality of the cameras. Our guests said they felt like the paparazzi was there and these two were all over the place taking photos! The sheer amount of hours and footage covered was just unbelievable. There are no words for the experience I had with Marc Weisberg. I have known of him for quite some time (a constant referral in the animal hospital world, as he does exceptional pet photography). After finally booking the session and spending some time on a gorgeous day with Marc, I can tell you that this will not just be a "session," but instead a complete experience. He is soft spoken, engaging, and he brings a very healing energy. We took our 18 month old Son, two labradors, and bull mastiff to a beautiful park in Orange Hills (Marc's choice). The setting was amazing but I had no idea how well he truly worked with the hardest of subjects to capture....kids and dogs! He had them doing things as if he was speakily directly to them. He took the time to really gain their trust and it was a magical experience! We left feeling extremely fulfilled, and so glad to have had the chance to work with someone so caring and gentle. It goes to say that I REFUSE to use, or to let anyone I know use anyone other than Marc for their photographing needs! His images are not images, they are stories. When you meet someone in your life that is truly gifted, you know it. He is truly gifted. However, the best part of all was getting to know the beautiful soul behind the lense. When we arrived at the studio to pick up our images, my Son ran right to him. We spent the first 20 minutes watching Marc entertain him with any cute object he could find. He didn't have to spend his time this way, but doing this brought tears to my eyes because he made me feel as if he became our Family. The icing on the cake was seeing him put our story on his blog. It was very unexpected. He used such beaufitul words to describe us, and to tell a story about one of our dogs that was recently diagnosed with cancer. Taking the time to really care for someone is something that people just don't do anymore. I cannot say enough good things about this Man! I also am right there with the same experience as the other negative ones posted on here. I am a very kind person so I almost feel bad for this man because he really hurt himself in his actions towards clients. He was so rude to me as well and I felt uncomfortable being around him with my child. Even if people come to you with a deal you offered you should treat them all with respect as if they were paying you top dollar because then you would get a great referral and repeat business. But for some reason this man must really just be this way all the time. I had an awful experience and I did not like any of our shots. bought a coupon on one of the social websites, deal stated that you are allowed to cancel 2 appointments within 48 hours without charge and there is a $25 fee if you need to cancel a 3rd. I had to cancel one (did so 5 days in advance) then had the cancel the second because my son had a fever (sorry was not able to give 48 hours notice because I did not know 48 hours before that he would have a fever) and Marc refused to honor the deal. When he told me he was not going to honor it I contacted him by email within 20 minutes and told him I would be there anyway with my 2 little ones, then I left at least 5 phone messages on his cell and office phone (which he says he never got) so there I am, at the park with a sick kid and 2 littles and he's not there. Still will not honor the deal. I guess I'm out $50 bucks - good riddins Marc Weisberg! Must have been a blessing in disguise after I've read the other reviews. Should have read them BEFORE i purchased the deal. P.S. I'm really shocked by his responses to people's complaints, man, talk about rude and immature! read more

Wow! I should have looked Marc Weisberg up on Yelp before I bought his Plum District deal! The bad reviews could not be any more accurate. I was surprised at how RUDE he was to me over the phone but thought maybe the man was just having a bad day. I guess it's a universal opinion though. He told me that if I was not going to buy more than what was offered on the "deal", that I should not "waste his time" by having him do more poses than I was going to purchase. The online deal consisted of a photo session, 8x10, two 5x7 prints, and 4 digital images. The fine print says prints are of the same pose and the digital images are "perfect for sharing on Facebook...". Sounds great but after I bought it, he tells me that the digital images are of low resolution and that I will not be able to print copies from them. Very DECEPTIVE and SNEAKY. So basically, you only get one pose so it's best not to waste his precious time. I was floored. Plum District happily reimbursed me because they said they have received other complaints about this photographer. Icky E. is right.. a little respect would go a long way. read more
