Just spoke with a nice guy named Mathew over at Metal Specialties for a quick over the phone quote…read moreon having some brake brackets cut on their water jet. Very helpful with pricing and information over the phone; easy to talk with, friendly and knowledgeable. If you are looking for custom fabrication work in Monterey, definitely check them out. To the guy below with 1 star, try giving them a call and maybe ask for Mathew. I had good results over the phone w/ him and was able to get a ballpark cost estimate, as well as information on how to provide technical drawings and/or CAD files, with just a simple 5 minute telephone conversation.

This company was reccomended by a close designer friend of mine...and all i can say is watch out…read morefor these guys!! The word in design circles in Los Angeles is not going good for this shop. Luckly for designers in Los Angeles they are in Monterey. I had a well known fabrication shop in down town los angeles tell me they do shitty work and it will take weeks for them to get back to you. The shop said they cut corners. This is coming from a shop that make stages and costumes for festivals and blockbuster movies. This shop warned me, but by going by referal i wanted to bring a new business in. From the very start, they were 3 months off schedule, blaming weather, blaming their team, blaming other jobs that came in that had prioriry over mine (like that made me feel good), they took days sometimes weeks to get a reply email. After several weeks past the deadline, which pissed off my client because they were depending on having these stools ready for their housewarming party, they gave me a final product photo that was missing the main design feature. Knowingly that it would cost more for the details they decided not to implemnt them into the design. They had the drawings and images that we signed off on from the beginning so I dont understand why they would miss such a huge part?? Its way Beyond me that a wife/husband team cannot communicate the slightest details. So I can see how things would slip through the cracks. But wait!! This gets better. Now redesigning these stools to spec as we had in the original drawings, its now going to take a couple more weeks, taking it even longer past the due date. Once again, I dont understand how a wife/husband team can miss communicate that bad. The owner John tells me in an email that now the details been added, three weeks later, and they are sending the stools without being painted. His wife Heather tried to tell me that it would cost extra, thank God i had an email from her husband that outlined they would paint these stools for me and it was in my quote they gave me. Ok, so thats all said and done....I ask several times for photos to strike off, needless to say i never aprroved these stools. They took it upon them selves to pay for expensive shipping and have a shitty job shipped to my firm without me ever seeing the end product....They new they did a bad job!! Thats why they paid for the shipping. I have NEVER had a shop/furniture store pay for shipping??? You think the antique stores on 1st dibs is going to pay shipping. No, the customer pays for shipping. Unless noted "shipping included" There were photos they sent but not of upclose which i never approved. And i never approved delivery, i would of had my own delivery company that i have been working with for the last 15 years pick them up and deliver to me. So Product gets shipped to me, the dimmensions are off, there were dents, paint spill overs, welding not done proffessionaly, boxes ripped and now have been getting harrased by them. They are sending messages to my children, im getting 30-40 calls in a row, im getting threats...this has been a complete nightmare and i wish i have never met them nor i wished they never sent this product. I inspect furniture for huge clients around the world and this was the WORST job i have ever seen!!!' Oh the stool was supposed to be 18", and when dealing with interiors... inches are everything...NEVER REACH OUT TO MY CHILDREN EVER AGAIN.... business is business, family is family, dont get it twisted....

The guy at the hardware store down the way recommended we try API & boy are we grateful he did! The incredibly nice man who runs the place (never actually caught his name:)) took some quick measurements, disappeared for a minute or two & came back with a piece that flawlessly fit the bolt where our metal piece had been & secured the strut perfectly. He even installed it for us in no time flat! This community is blessed to have such a generous and skilled business owner. Thank you, good sir. You got us back on the road safely and quickly. Many many thanks.

API was recommended to me in that the company would be the best choice for my case. Boy, were they right! Even though the parts could not be welded (pot aluminum), the owner Russell figured out how with much ingenuity and hard work to reconstruct the device. He reconfigured the larger and remaining part of the crank to fit onto the rod that goes through the wooden handle, and fixed it on the spot. Just like new and one would never know that it was not as it had always been. Thank you, thank you so very much! Please consider this very nice company for your metal fabrication needs or repairs.
