We liked that the booth was elevated so we had a great view of the stage for when the artist came back from a break. Our and a server brought us water when bringing menus - which I appreciate. We ordered cocktails, he had the smoked old fashioned. He said it was the best one he'd had in a long time. I had the blueberry lavender Collins it was quite refreshing. To eat we had the Baked Feta to start. It was interesting, it was cubed instead of whipped or somehow smoother. A little hard to explain. The halved cherry tomatoes and cloves of roasted garlic made it for me. The feta was warm, but it didn't really spread. Adding the tomatoes completely changed the overall flavor. They were a little sweet and paired nicely with the sharp tang of the feta. We also split the Dune sandwich. Big fans! The turkey was warm, the focaccia was light and fluffy. Served with a pile of kettle chips. The music was a man and his guitar. A one man show of sorts, he was great. We had a great experience and we will go again, for sure. We want to try the flatbread next time!

Your first bite gives you a little sweetness, and then that heat starts to kick in, followed by all the other flavors coming together. So, so good! There's also a pimento-cheese-style sauce that comes with it, and that just takes everything over the top. And the pickle poppers were an experience all on their own. They were hot, crunchy, and delicious. I was worried they might have too much cheese inside, but the ratio was actually perfect. And of course, the pickles themselves were fabulous. The service was great too. The girl working was super friendly, and even though the lunch line started getting HUGE, they moved everyone through quickly and got the food out fast. Highly recommend! We arrived mid-late afternoon and the restaurant was not busy but by the time our food arrived, Village Baker was pretty busy. The menu is huge but the blackened grouper sandwich was what my wife and I both chose. I was surprised how good it was because every February almost my entire diet is fresh grouper or mahi mahi. The dish here was definitely a worthy contender. Our friends ordered a Rueben and the Baker's Wife Pizza. Everything look so good. Since there were many items I'd like to try, we definitely need to come back. Service-Excellent. On our way our, we stopped at the attached bakery. Lots of really great looking baked items including scones, lemon bars, macaroons, tarts, cinnamon rolls, etc. So glad we discovered Village Baker.

They went first and their report back left much to be desired. They just said it's not right. They said they would give it a second try so we all went. I ordered my usual large pepperoni pizza with extra sauce and my friend ordered the super sub. The crust in the pizza was dead on, but the sauce was totally wrong. The flavor was way off and it ruined the entire pizza. My friend said the super sub was completely different. The ham was wrong and the bun was different. I asked if the new owner was there and they said yes. She came out and we talked. We both told her what she thought and she seemed genuinely surprised. She said that her husband worked for months with the previous owners to learn the recipes the exact way they prepared them. I just reiterated that it was somehow different. Then came the bombshell. She said "well they are exactly the same, but we are using higher quality ingredients." I don't know where she learned the English language because that's not exact if you changed the ingredients. She said we use "a higher quality sauce" and now the buns come from a different bakery. So basically they changed everything and claim it's the same. I continued to monitor facebook for several months to see if other customers had the same experience and sure enough every now and then people would point out it wasn't the same. At one point I added a comment and just said "I wish they would go back to the original sauce". To which the owner promptly responded "it's exactly the same only higher quality". She then arrogantly blocked me on Facebook. I will not go back to this restaurant until they change their sauce back or change owners. They are rude and dishonest.

Other than that, everything else.....wait time, counter-clerk, etc were okay. Bottom line: I will patronize this place again, but unless the product is improved, it will more than likely be the last time for me.
